So basically, my attitude is that this *new* ability, will simply encourage more bloggers to reply to questions, right in the comments of their post. And mostly no one will ever read/see them.

3rd....i agree, who goes back to a blog once you have left a comment. i never reply to comments left on my blog, in the comment box. i do try to reply to comments via email, if i can. the main thing i do is, if you left me a comment, i will visit you and leave a comment also!! lately i am all over the place so things have been a little different. i do like when people allow you to reply to questions via email, i find that to be a quick and easy way to answer questions!!
What beautiful pictures. Now, it snow was like that here, you'd never hear any complaints from me. Unfortunately though, city snow is gray and slippery, very slippery, and for an oldster like me, downright dangerous at times. Sometimes I will go back. Some bloggers will comment on their comments and these I always go back to reread.

Beautiful pics, especially the first one. Sometimes I will reply in an email, but when I comment on your blog and you then comment back, I think, and that's just my opinion, that should be enough, unless there are questions, then I will send an email or reply. Hope you have a great Sunday! Hugs
What I found, was that I felt 'special' if someone took the time to comment on my comment or answer a question. Soooo... I started doing the same. If they go back and read it fine, and if they don't that is fine too, but that way I feel that I acknowledged their effort to comment. Myself, if I ask a question I really want an answer to, I go back and see if there is a reply.
afer i read the post that day, i don't go back unless later i think of something i wanted to say. i like reply's to emails and for bloggers who have email, I most of the time reply to their comment by email, if they don't have email and ask a question i don't answer the question and i never reply to a question on my blog by writing on the blog. now that i think of it, i might use the reply is someone ask about the post so the next people will see the answer. but then i don't read the comments on others post except rarely, i read the post, comment and move on
Well, if I've asked a Specific question of the Blogger, I will go back to check and see if they've left a reply...but that's just me...

If I know of someone who replies to comments or I've asked a question, I'll go back and check but don't go back normally.
I have and do at times answer questions in comments but lately I've just been emailing the person and that seems to work.
I agree with you and it will be a waste on me as well because I never return to a post to see if my question was answered or not. I have enough problems keeping up with everyone's blogs without having to return to previous posts! lol If someone asks me a question in a comment, I usually answer them in an email. xoxo

In terms of your question re comments on a blog - if I leave comments for someone I usually subscribe to any replies by email. I don't know if this is always available but at least you receive replies that way.
