♥Winter lingering... Only a memory...

♥  ♥

~~~
Looking back through a past blog of mine  ~~  I came upon a late Feb. '09 post, titled
"A Late Winter Fantasy...  Come join me..."
What a difference in our weather patterns, from '09 to '12!
I copy some of that post, below...
Photo from   "Mary Emmerling's Country 1994"
Dear Cielo says to look and to listen... That Spring and Faeries are near. And I love her, for saying such. But... -sigh-
~~~
When I look, I see only snow and ice. And when I listen, I hear only howling wind. I fear my Garden Faeries are still ensconced for now, in some warm and far away place, because of the latitude of where I live, or something.
~~~
So I think I'll stay in the library above, for a little longer. Curled up on the comfy sofa, in front of a roaring fire in the big fireplace, reading and reading and reading... Until the snows stop falling and the ice stops forming and the winds stop howling.
~~~
Actually, the fantasy of doing such, is very, very pleasing. If I had such a library as pictured above, I might not fret so much, if winter did linger. And... If I had a long-time supply of cocoa and coffee to sip in the day time... And a long-time supply of Champagne to sip, in the evening hours... And plenty of firewood for the fireplace. It might be quite nice. :-)
~~~
If you are in a latitude where winter is lingering, perhaps you'd like to come visit with me? And sip and read for a while, too?
Back to the present...
Though it looks as if Vee had snow, all we got yesterday was rain.  And this morning, we have this...
...and this...
I'd still love to have that beeeeeeeeautiful Library, pictured above.  And a roaring fire in a big fireplace.  And books and books and books to read.  :-)
"I used to be Snow White, but I drifted."
~Mae West
-chuckle-  I've also seen this quote written as;
"I used to be pure as the driven snow, but I drifted."  ~Mae West
Either way, one *gets the drift*...  ,-)
i am with you on the books and books and books, my favorite pastime is reading. but no roaring fire, that is why we live in Florida, i prefer lots of sunshine and no need for a fire. but if i lived which i will not, in a place with cold i would like the fire. but i do like looking at the pretty ice in your photos...
That quote made both John and me laugh. Too funny!
This weather stuff is so cyclical...some winters are "better" than others. I'll leave it up to you to decide which is which.
Sigh. We have snow predicted for Sunday and Tuesday. All the flowers peeking out will get their widdle heads frozen.
Just checking my new Icon.
I got tired of that particular pic, of my face. So I got a cute little roses and violets one.
Oh, I'll bet there were some slippery roads. Stay snug with your books until the weather changes. I'm reading "The Rose Garden" and yes, as soon as I have read blogs, I'm going to get out in the sun and stick my nose in a book.
OOO, Auntie, I do have the wonderful library...a wonderful fireplace....lots of books....plenty of hot chocolate and flavored coffees....just not the cold, wet weather and I would LOVE IT TO PIECES.
It is what we pray for out here in dry and barren West Texas.....
and, I love anything Mae West ever quoted..:))
Reason for so much work here at Sweet Nothings today...20 or so home fellowship sisters and brothers are gracing us with their presence tomorrow.
We have so much snow here and it snowed again all day yesterday, I'm just about ready to go into hibernation until Spring finally arrives! lol March is sometimes worse than February where snow accumulation is concerned so it will be a long while yet before Spring shows its face. Can you imagine having such a library? I'd be wanting to be in there all the time:-) xoxo
Sure is a big difference!! I'm rather glad we are having such a mild winter. No ice means I can keep walking!! : )
I'd love to have a library like that!!!!
Our weather is dreadfully changeable this year. Snow one day, temps in the 40s the next, then in the teens the day after that. Much milder than the last two winters - and somehow it doesn't feel right.
What would life be if we couldn't complain about the weather? :)
