♥ What-To-Do? What-To-Do???

Having a bit of a run of bad luck, with books, of late.  Good thing I keep many, in the queue.  -grin-

We spent 8 great days in Paris, in 1999.  But it fits the old saying of----  "Nice place to visit, but I'd not want to live there."    They preserve all the old BEAUTY, yes.  But they also preserve old outmoded bureaucracy, and attitudes toward women.  Ick...

"Dragonswood"  Why wouldn't I love such a book, with a title like that?!?  Well, I did.  I love Dragons and the Fey and....    But half way through, I'd had ENOUGH of the violence of humans, toward other humans.  Ugh...  So this one, I quit.
But I have a couple of books, which I hope will wipe out my losing streak.  :-)  About half way through one already, and looking forward to the next.  With nothing but re-runs on tv, it's very good for my reading streak.  -grin-

"Uncle A's" line up of sprouting seeds, some of them.  And this pic is old.  Last week maybe.  They are really bopppping along and will be ready to plant soon.

Tuesday was one of those we-really-got-things-done days!  Whoo-Hooo!  We both did regular indoor house cleaning.  And we both did some of the gotta'-do-it-now-and-then kind of cleaning.  Super!!!  His days are always busy with his projects.  Mine are not always so productive.  -blush-  ,-)  So it was great for me to have done-some-freakin'-work, for a change!!!!!!!!!!!
.
With all the rain, and now with the heat/humidity, EVERYTHING is growing like crazy!  That's fine for the things one plants and want them to thrive.  Not so wonderful, for all the over-growth which happens.  It's beginning to feel/look like

"Sleeping Beauty's Castle" around here, again.  -sigh-  Mainly around the pool fencing.  And back-left of our property.  It's a lower level, only used for the pool 'works,' and we don't other wise use it.   So.....  It's easy to *forget.*

Usually, spring and fall, I am down there...  Clippers and sawing instrument in hand...  Whacking and clearing and culling...  Have not this spring.  And now, it's getting to Crunch Time.
--Will I attack?
--Or will I let it go?
Can't expect "Uncle A." to do it.  He has ENOUGH to do, keeping the pool in good shape and taking care of the lawns/flowers, we do see.
Trouble is, if someone doesn't keep after it, my one-down-a-street view will completely disappear.  Once rogue trees/bushes get a hold, it's hard to evict them.  Gotta' keep after them!  Not let 'em go.
So, what'cha' think I'll do?

Learn to live in "Sleeping Beauty's Castle"?

Or get whacking?

OR!  OR!  Throw frugality to the winds, and hire someone to do it?

"Man is a creature who lives not upon bread alone,
but primarily by catchwords."

Such dreadful weather we are having here and no relief in sight. Showers and humidity. Makes even my rocking chair creek.

sometimes it's nice to just pay someone to do it...I used to spend all weekend working on mowing and such...we are on almost an acre...now I have a yard company that comes about every 10 days or so...they get it done in an hour or so and charge $60..well worth it to me..

Have you read Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver? I just finished it; excellent book.

I feel like that over at the old house. It is just so hard to keep it tidy when I'm not there every day. I will be happy when we finally put it on the market and get it sold. It used to be so pretty - I had so many pretty gardens and now things are just a mess.

Please hire someone to do it. (I thought to myself as I was lightheaded and miserable after the third attack on those lovs that if there is a next time, I WILL hire it done. It will mean having every plant dug up and set aside and then having the entire garden raked with a fine tooth comb and dug out and then the plants replaced. I hate to do it, but I'm resorting to the plant killer next.)

Of course, Cinderella's castle does have it's own charm. I am not happy about the lack of programming for the summer and am trying to think what we'll do of an evening.

Someone has mentioned Barbara Kingsolver. She is a favorite author around here. Try The Jade Tree, Poisonwood Bible, or Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. The last one is autobiographical and very refreshing to read, at least to me.:)
I'd hire someone! They will hopefully come with all the tools they need to do the job, and may have more than one working on it to finish it quickly!

i vote hire someone to do it OR just pretend to be sleeping beauty and let it run wild. of course hubby might not care for the handsome prince that drops by

Sometimes it just helps to let someone come in once to do it then do a little at a time, yourself...that's what I do for hubby. It really makes things go easier...

Hire someone. :)

Why is it SO hard to get a project done? I am SO guilty of that. Like right now, I'm blogging and I should be folding clothes.

But...I justify it by conjuring up that cliche question: At the end of your life, would you be happier saying that you (fill in the blank with something fun, like blogged) or folded laundry? LOL

I just started reading Mudbound. So far, I'm really liking it.

I vote for hiring. My hubby is still of the mindset that we can do many things, but the reality of it is that it simply doesn't get done. Now he says he will cut down some trees that are dying. I'm opposed to him climbing trees with a chain saw in hand. I feel a battle coming on. :(

Sometimes it's just better to get a little help just for thr peace of mind it brings.
