♥ A "Blast from the past"... ,-)

A blast from the past...  ,-)
Please excuse the over-head-light reflection, when I took a pic, of this pic.  ,-)

Came across this OLD picture, when looking for something else.  From when we accompanied our Daughter and Son In Law to St. Thomas, V.I..  Long ago.  :-)  Can't figure exact year, and it's not written on back of the picture.  But it had to be *about* the beginning of the 1990's.

I would have been in my early 50's.  Brown hair, old glasses, not too-over weight, with my "Shirley Valentine" ear rings on.  -grin-  (Remember the play/film "Shirley Valentine"?)  I bought those wild-for-me ear rings, down there, and they made me feel very fun-in-the-sun-ish.  -grin-

And the short perm I used to keep my hair in, was just wash-and-go.  So it was perfect for the Caribbean climate.  :-)   Humidity just made it better.   I LOVED that hair do!!!!  But it's very dated-looking now.  Just like the BIG glasses.  ,-))))

"Uncle A." got up early this morning, and came down and made himself some Scones.  Don't they look deeeeeeeelicious?!?  ,-)   And no, I can't eat them because they are made with regular flour.  I'd have to make mine, with G/F flour, and I'm not inspired, to bother.  -grin-

Our Impatient(s) out front, are simply dying off this year.  Even with Miracle Grow sprayed on them.  ?????????????????????   He had to cull Lily of The Valley, growing right behind them.  They were just multiplying toooo much.    He wonders if (Lily of The Valley) has encroached (under the soil) on them, and that's the reason?  Or maybe we just need to plant another flower there, for a change?

We always have Impatient(s) there and they usually thrive.

-pout-

Saturday, we had an extended thunder storm, with heavy, heavy rains.  Everything needed the rain...  But the extended heaviness of it, did-a-job on lots of his flowers.

Above, the pot of Tuberous Begonias on the front step, has been soooooooooooooo beautiful.  But the rain pounded them, and we will have to remove the damaged blooms today....  Before they just kind-of-rot.  With luck, many more blooms will come.

Thanks for sharing that picture with us. I once had my hair like that as well. Only my perm destroyed my hair. Turns out my hair took way too quick to the perm, and then the girl didn't condition or trim afterwards. It was my first one so I didn't know that was supposed to be done. When I washed it it looked like I stuck my hand into an electrical socket. Had to go and get it cut off. Then I decided to let it grow because I had never really had long hair.

Those scones look delicious. I'd love the recipe if you don't mind.

i love old pics, brings back memories i would have forgotten. impatiens are my next to favorite flower, i love daisy's and impatiens. used to have a lot of them. they grow here but the heat kills them unless they are watered every day. i had them in a window box in Savannah

Love looking at old photos -- they hold such fond memories! Our Impatiens were planted later than usual in our half-shade rock garden. So far, they seem to be doing ok. Good luck with yours.
Peace,
Muff

You cutie, you! Thank you for being brave and sharing that. We all looked permy and bangled and big glasses back in the day.

That rain was revolting. We got it, too. And it certainly did knock the plants for a loop.

We could use some good rain! The garden is really dry, although my husband is able to water it some.
I love wash-and-dry hair.:) That's how I "do" mine.:)
Pictures are forever. It looks like everyone was happy.:)

Send some of that rain our way! It's 100 here today and feels like 105!
I love seeing old photos. I had those huge glasses! And the thick lenses to go with them because I'm so nearsighted. I'm happy that's not the case now...thickness of lens that is...I'm still nearsighted!
My impatiens I planted in pots are doing much better than those in the ground this year. But the petunias are all struggling to stay alive in this heat.

Don't know the big glasses - they are making a come back - I just bought a pair of really big sunglasses - very Jackie O!

Love seeing an earlier version of you:)

I love the perm, and the glasses. So stylish in their time.

Unfortunate that you can't partake of those lovely looking scones.

I'll stick with my very straight hair now until forever, though. So many perms dried it.

I had a curly perm in he 90's too except my hair was longer. The big glasses seem to be making a comeback.
Those scones look delicious!!

I think I had the same look back in the day. I just saw a photo of my cousin and myself taking in the early 90's. We had on the same type of glasses as you do in your photo. LOL

My impatiens aren't doing a thing either. I have sprayed them with Miracle Grow to now avail. I think it is just too darn hot. The like it cool and they like to keep their toes wet.

You look great NOW and then!!
I told my soon to be 50 year old daughter - enjoy the way you look NOW! Growing 'older' gracefully is not for the faint of heart!

I think you and I have GOT this!!
