♡ Books... Books... Books...

♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡

(Spirea)

After a string of lovely-but-hot summer weather, Sat. dawns gray......
♡*♡
With strong afternoon thunderstorms predicted.
♡*♡
Oh my!  All the Phish people, will probably get less-than-perfect-weather today, in the middle of their longgggggggggggg weekend.  -chuckle-

♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡

I've read 3 books in Susan Cooper’s award-winning fantasy series, "The Dark Is Rising."  Think I will *switch-out* and wait awhile, to read the last 2.  When the weather gets cooler and autumn comes, maybe...  ,-)

♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡

"Named Of The Dragon" by Susanna Kearsley...  Another of her romantic suspense novels...  Where the heroine is pulled into an ancient world of haunting legends, etc...  Delightful!!!!!!
♡*♡
Btw, though these are called *Romances*, they are not the over-done-peek-through-the-key-hole-and-see-more-than-is-necessary-in-the-Romance-Dept. kind of books.  ,-)   What do they call them???  *Bodice Rippers*....  NOPE.    NOT *Bodice Rippers*...  Happily...
♡*♡
What will I do, when I have read all the books which Susanna Kearsley has written to date?????  Eeeek!  -moan-  -sigh-   I know, read the rest of the Mary Stewart books, which I haven't read yet.  :-)

♡*♡*♡*♡*♡*♡

"Three Houses" by Angela Thirkell.......  A delightful book, in which the author;  "......writes of her late Victorian childhood, in which her memory inhabits the three houses which shaped the sensibility later displayed in her beloved Barsetshire novels."
♡*♡
Those Dear Readers who have read/enjoyed Thirkell's beloved Barsetshire novels, would enjoy this book, it seems.  I guess one would recognize settings in her novels....  From this memoir of her childhood.  :-)

"The new curtains of...
white damask with gilt cornices and holders,
extending to the floor...are very rich looking."

~~Tryphena Blanche Holder Fox, writing to her mother
from her Southern plantation home, July 1856

Oh, that picture of your pool in the header makes it look so inviting. I'm off now, very early, to get my errands run before the heat really comes upon us. Stay cool, my friend.

Ohhhh, it's a memoir? I'm all over it. I'll be calling it in on loan from somewhere. Thanks.

Just love the patterns in the water...they're beyond lovely.

I never enjoyed those 'steamy' romance novels! TMI. I've been reading by author as well lately, but I have three different ones, so there's enough variety.
Peace,
Muff
