The Bugle... A Story...
When our oldest "Grand" Kate was only 2 years of age... I gave "Uncle A." a bugle for his Birthday. (People who have been in the Army, as he had, *hate* the Bugle, which wakes them up.) I thought it was a cute Birthday gift.
2 year old Kate was at the table, with the rest of us, for Birthday Cake and presents. When "Pop" opened the bugle, she wanted to hold it. We gave it to her. Rest of the family was sitting around the table, chatting, etc.
She put the bugle to her wee little mouth, and BLEWWWWWWWWWWW! We all got such a kick out of it! And Kate blew, and blew, and blew, and blew....
When doing our Big Clean Out upstairs, we came across the Bugle! We decided to bring it with us, to Family Thanksgiving Dinner... In a bag and unseen. After dinner, "Pop" went and got the bugle and presented it to Kate.
She had to try again, to blow it. All these years later.
And she finally puffed out those cheeks again, and blew it!!!
Then of course, the little ones wanted it and it got a wee bit noisy. The poor doggies ran to their crates in the back room, to *escape.* -grin-
So I said, we now have a new Thanksgiving Dinner Tradition. We bring over the bugle, and Kate has to blow it. :-)))))))))))))))))

Oh, how these traditions begin! Thanks for sharing this one with us. Getting ready to go to the supermarket now. A cooking weekend for me...as if I didn't already have enough of cooking. LOL!!!

Great story... and great idea for a new Thanksgiving tradition! And I noticed your Portmeirion Serving Bowl - another fav of mine.
What a cute story! Kate is pretty cute blowing that bugle, too. The dogs, however, are probably never going to trust you again.
Awwww, I love that story and also love that a new tradition has now been started in your family:-) A shame you don't have a picture of Kate blowing the bugle when she was 2 years old but at least you have the memory. Your grandchildren will always remember this moment:-) xoxo

I have some of the same Christmas books as in your heading! Will be packing a lot of them up to bring back down here when we go 'home' on Friday! Many I will be giving to Amber since they have been a part of her childhood.
A good tradition ... Maybe not on the eats though lol
Now I think that's a very cool tradition....Bugle Day! Oh btw....Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your friends and family from Canada!
