Icicles.... And Fantasy.........

It's that time of year again, when we can watch icicles grow.  And grow.  And grow.  And grow.  'Twas 2 degrees outside, when I opened my patio door, to get this shot.   It had probably been colder, during the night.

And there is a pretty wee little moon, peeking out from among the bare branches...  I'm not that great with moon-shots, but it's still kind-of pretty.  :-)

I was happy to find that on Susan Branch's Calendar, she shows us the Full Moon date.  (1/26 for this month)  And she even names the Full Moons!  Super!  I drew the little Moon, myself.  :-)

I love, love, love this illustration.  And don't know where I originally found it.  -sigh-  It has so much contained within it.  Books, books, books.  Old books.  A Dragon.  Water-coloring being done by a little girl.  Who sits atop the head of the *long-suffering* Dragon.  !!!!!!!!!!!  I want to be that lucky little girl!

Actually, I'd settle for being me, as long as I could pop into that painting....  Have access to those Old Books...  Paint...  But mostly!  Mostly!  Mostly!  Have a Dragon for a Friend!!!!  The last is the most important!!!  To know a Dragon!  :-)

Even if you aren't *into* making friends with a Dragon, who could be afraid of this particular one?  Who could?  He is simply precious.

*In-fancy*, I could begin, with getting to know him.  And then move on, to knowing more fierce kinds of Dragons.  And on to flying on a Dragon.  If one is going to fly on a Dragon, the Dragon might just as well be rather fierce looking.  It certainly adds to the entire "fancy."  ;-)

-sigh-  But I have to come back down to earth.  -pout-  I'm not lucky enough, to conjure up a real Dragon.  Not even a friendly one.......  -sigh-

"It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations,
if you live near him."
~J.R.R. Tolkien

2 degrees? Burrr. You also mention not being great at moon shots. I have been trying to capture a nice picture of the moon for a long time and I can never capture the shot I'm looking for. I suppose I need to invest in a more professional type camera. Happy Friday Auntie!

Ah...interesting quote from Tolkien. And so true. One must face such things head on even if one finds that the situation is "berserk"

Do you name dragons or anything? Puff? Smoky? Charcoal? ; D

i love that dragon, he is wonderful. and the icicles like that i have not seen since 1959.. we left KY that year and never saw them again. we were from the deep south, land of no icicles and moved to KY and talk about fascinating. mother kept using her browie camera to take pics of them and the locals thought we were crazy.

O, Auntie...how I love your "little girl" heart. You are so much fun and I would dearly love to come see you sometime and we could go on a dragon hunt together.
Let me think...my first little grandboy loved a dragon story...I remember reading it to him over and over and over...what was it??? I'll probably wake up tonight at 4 and remember it...if I do, you can bet I'll get up and email it to you. :))

Absolutely LOVE that watercolor dragon illustration! You are right... with the dragon and the books and the watercolor... it is perfect. If it was on a current calendar, I would run right out and buy it!

It's been cold here, but not THAT cold!! Brrr!
Love the dragon and little girl photo. That's the only kind of dragon I want in my life...sweet and friendly. But, so often they're not. I remember a teacher we had so many years ago that we called "dragon-lady"! ha ha.
Have a wonderful and warm weekend!

The icicles are beautiful. They have a magic of their own, to me.
Soooo many books...sooo little time...and dragons, too! What could be better.

That is a wonderful illustration.

We've got massive icicles too - Mr. M thinks they should all be knocked down but I like to see them dangling from the eaves. :)

I love that dragon illustration too. My book club just read a Dragonflight by Anne McCaffery and we all wanted a dragon to be able to fly about and between times.
