Yesterday (Sun.) the sun came out and the rain went away and it was quite beautiful. Even though 'twas humid. After all that rainy and dismal weather, we needed to "get out of town." :-) Didn't go far. But it was a nice little (15 min.) trek. Over to the villages where I grew up and where he spent many years of his growing up.

First we visited the old cemetery which is near the Revolutionary War Memorial, looking for the oldest graves. It would have been a nice walk around, if not for the flying, biting bugs. Ugh! I call 'em chiggers and they just LOVED me, per usual. All flying, biting bugs just LOVE me. Ugh...

So we had *to bail* there and went across the street to the "Catholic" cemetery... Where I thought I remembered the area of my family graves. But, either I didn't remember. Or the roads in there, have been changed. Or the chiggers just got to me again, before we could really look well... Anyway, had to get back in the car and leave.

On down into my old village, pointing out where people-used-to-live. My old home continues to be well maintained, which is lovely. But many old places, are gone, or completely changed, etc.

Then down the mile, to his village. We rode around and looked for old landmarks and etc. Then a stop at the Apple Orchard, where it was very busy. Very, very busy. We left without cider, and came on home.
It was sooooooooo great to get out of the house, after all the gloomy weather. Nice to take a back-roads-ride, in the sunny weather. N-I-C-E...
