♡Decorating... And some ollllllllllllllllllllllld ones...

'Uncle A.' was up-and-down the ladder yesterday, putting up garland and wreaths and the wee little tree.  ~.~.~  We are seriously considering my idea (which he never could see doing, before), that of covering the ding-dang-tree with something, after Christmas is over, and putting it upstairs.  We have 3 rooms not being used up there.  Why not?!?  ~.~. A Net friend of mine (waving to Wilma) used to do that.  Her husband covered the tree and put it in the back yard shed.  Which is probably a better way, but...  Our shed is full-up of yard tools.  :-)

Not sure I'm happy with the mantle this year.  Sometimes it *comes together* and I love it, every time I look at it.  Mmmmmmm...  Not quite so, this year.....  But ornaments still have to be put on the tree.  (Which neither one of us like to do)  Soooo, the mantle may just stay-as-is.  :-)

Late yesterday afternoon, I saw a squirrel eating away at the Patio Pumpkin.  :-)  Wonder how long it will last, before it's all eaten, except for the left-over mess.

The Elf, who has *been hangin' around* at Christmas time, for 50+ years.  Our first child's Christmas, he hung right on the same hanging lamp, over our dining table.  She was just 2 months old, and we put her in her little reclining-seat, on the table, and she watched him.  :-)   No danger, because she could not roll over yet.  ~:~:He is in pretty tough shape by now....  But we *have to* keeping putting him up.  :-)

Another one of those *in-tough-shape-but-it-has-to-stay-hanging* items...  Our youngest son brought this home from school at Christmas, years and years ago.  One of those tree Ornaments kids make.

Needless to say, "the bird" has lost his head, over the years...  Lost other parts too, and the sparkle no longer sparkles.  But we had it hanging, between the Kitchen and Heath Room.  Year after year, it hung there.  A few years ago, when we did the Kitchen over, we took it down.
~:~:~
And our son ended up in the hospital, very-very-sick with Food Poisoning....
~:~:~
Whether we believe in *whooo-whoooooo* or not, we put it back up, and it hangs there, to this day.

Do you Dear Reader, have some *in-tough-shape-but-have-to-use-them* Christmas ornaments, too?  No, not the pristine-lovely-carefully-handed-down ornaments.  The *really-ugly-now-kind*...  :-)))))))))

Yes, I have things that the kids made when they were little that go up on the tree every year.

I like putting ornaments on the tree. The part i don't like is putting the lights on it!

I have kept them ALL.....the precious things little hands (who are now middle aged hands of my oldest two!) made. I can NOT bear NOT to put them up! Or display them.
I loved seeing yours!
I am busy as a bee decorating! I have at least one tree in every room. So far I have two in the den. Granted- they are small. One is 4 ft. and the other only 2 ft!
Pace yourself!!

I know quite a few people who just cover up their tree with a sheet and place it in storage somewhere. As you say, if you have the room, why not:-)

Oh how I love that little elf and such precious memories behind it. I have quite a few "ornaments" that the boys had made when they were little and I've saved them all.

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas around here....:-) xoxo

Several years ago, my niece and I were putting up Christmas and she found one of my son's ornaments...a nativity scene. I was all gaga over it when she said, "Why did he glue a rat to Baby Jesus's head?" In all the years I displayed that ornament, I had never noticed that he had, indeed, glued a rat to the holy infant's head. Gracious!

Love your rememberies and that you keep on doing the same things you've done for years now. The elf hanging over the table is priceless!

I too have old and tattered things I still hang on the Christmas tree each year. They hold Happy memories for the whole family to enjoy.

Well there are a lot of handmade things from years gone by but I wouldn't call them ugly. A few painted and glittered pine cones top the list.

I have all the ornie down from the attic just have to decorate the tree then move on to the rest of the house.

Love your elf - I have a few of those.

Hi Auntie - and Yes, I Do still have all those old ornaments. Made with toilet paper rolls, glitters, pipe cleaners, tongue depression sticks, plastic milk jug lids, cork, etc. They are precious and they are special! and I'll keep putting them up until they rot to pieces. I have my husband's elf that his mom gave to me. It still goes on the tree, too... ;)

The ornament your son made is very precious.

No decorations for us this year, the house is undergoing serious renovations and I may not even have a kitchen to cook in which suits me just fine!! :)

1st your mantle looks lovely to me, BUT i know what you mean, when I do something I want it to look good to ME each time i look at it, not just Christmas decorations.
2nd I love your kitchen header and your kitchen
3rd I don't decorate. you decorate like my mother did, and she had every ornament and every thing we ever made and put it up until she died. no space in her house was free from Christmas decorations.
I put out 2 little 2 foot trees ANd they are put in bags and stored in the closet, so go for putting you tree in a bag.
i have a glass nook and it gets a few things but unless you look at the nook there is no sign of decorations. I was born this way. i like going to see decorations and looking at yours and others on blogs so keep on decorating. i am waiting to see it.
