♡FIRST post of the New Year...

(Gabe - This Year)

Since I just love that pic of Gabe, above...  I'll put it at the top of my first post of 2012.  That has to be a *Token of Good Luck*.  :-))))

Yes, I wanted a Red, White & Black Blog Look for now.  As we have no snow, I copied (and linked to, of course) this beautiful photo from a beautiful photo blog.  With luck, we will get some snow, and I can go out and find a local pic of my own.

I'll start out 2012, with a few words, about the last book I read.  "Wicked Autumn" by G. M. Malliet.  I enjoyed it!!!  So nice to find that I'm more-liking her books, as they come along.  It certainly has the makings of a delightful new Brit Cozy Mystery Series.  This one is set in a purrrrrfect little British Village (of course), but in the present day.  I recommend it!!!

"Max Tudor has adapted well to his post as vicar of St. Edwold’s in the idyllic village of Nether Monkslip. The quiet village seems the perfect home for Max, who has fled a harrowing past as an MI5 agent. Now he has found a measure of peace among..."

I like it, that this (newly minted) vicar has a very different past, from the usual vicar in a lovely Brit Town.

Yesterday afternoon (Sun.) we drove down to the P.O., parked the car, and walked Broadway, from there to the intersection of Spring St.  Not hurrying...

Amid lots of walking families, people, and people with dogs-on-leash (the Law...!!!), enjoying the very mild temps.  But......  -sigh-  It didn't take long enough.

Next time, we'll have to plan on a longer stretch.

No Karen, :-)  I still don't have a pedomiter.  :-)  Just count minutes.  See, since I never, never, never wear clothing-with-a-belt of any kind, I don't know where to *attach* a ped.  -Hrummmph-  ,-)

Took these photos last week.  Not yesterday.  But it's all the same views.  :-)  So I'll put them, in this post, and use them up.

I certainly hope all my Dear Readers,
had a very nice New Years.  As we did.

I even read a column yesterday, which I'm going to *hang-on-to,*
in hopes of alleviating some *Angst-About-the-News.*   ,-)
~
Every little bit of such, which I can find, I'm gonna' grab onto
and hold onto, for a while.   It's called self-preservation.

This is the kind of a year, when (in my *Olden Years*) I'm finding it necessary to put myself into *Ostrich Mode,* more and more and more.  To keep myself from *blowing my cork* and from *nights-of-bad-dreams,* etc.  I really don't like *Ostrich Mode,* but when it becomes necessary, we have to do what we have to do.

"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God
who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect
has intended us to forgo their use."
~ Galileo Galilei (1564-1642)

I like the gingham. My friend Vicki at Turkey Feathers went with gingham as well. It made me look for yellow gingham, but I don't have the whole upload your own background thing down so well and so the yellow gingham turned to mustard and that was the end of that.

Must read that article...haven't had the chance and now I'm waiting for The Rose Bowl Parade at 11 while listening to Nate B*erkus with one ear.

I love that photo of Gabe, too. Those glorious curls!

How lovely to get out for a walk in these mild temps. John and I went out for a walk this morning in 40F temps. Just lovely! My friend in Manitoba CA says that it's just beautiful there and they could be walking about wearing shorts. Crazy weather.

Yes, we must do what me must do to protect our hearts, minds, and spirits. It's the way of life.

Again, a Happy New Year to us all!

I find the older I get the more I indulge in ostrich behaviour too. Where we live we can't get newspapers delivered which is a good thing but I can read them online but I find more and more I skip over the bad stuff. Don't want to see or hear it anymore.
You live in a beautiful place.

That Gabe is so precious.
Love his golden curls...hope he keeps them forever....:)

Yep, many times, Mr. Sweet and I just have to "look the other way" over things that are happening in our world. I pray to God every night to take my worries....and HE does. Sure is a relief to know HE is carrying them for me. Doesn't mean that I just QUIT worrying...just a lot less. :)
It is cold here today...hope it warms up a little.
Love your red and white checks.:)

There are pedometers you can put in your pocket. It's not important how far you walk just that you get out and walk. : ) I'm just a bit obsessed with walking! : )

The book sounds good and i've put it on my list of books to read.
Stopped in at an used book store today but didn't have any luck on finding a Verday book.

Hi Auntie. Love the new look of your blog, and that snow photo is beautiful. Little Gabe certainly has grown. What a lovely photo! Love his little curls (a bit like my little Ruby!). I agree with you on the self preservation bit. We have to do what we have to do. ThaT Wicked Autumn certainly looks like my kind of book. Hugs to you.

What an amazing pic of Gabe!! The HAIR!! Oh, the HAIR!!

I wish I could join you for a walk downtown. What fun it would be to look at all the things YOU see in your life. Alas, I will have to content myself with peeking in the window of your life via the world of blog!

Love the snow and the red checks!

Oh, my! A lovely town to walk in. I guess you are not a neighbor. :) No snow here either. Rain and lots more rain. And, I have to tell you we have occasion to go into 'ostrich' mode as well. Oy.

Gabe is about the adorable child I have ever seen. How can you not help yourself from giving him big ol' bear hugs? Thanks for the window shopping in your lovely down town. We have lots of snow.
