Hot~~~Humid~~~Blahhhh~~~Books~~~Etc.

(Source)

Another hot/humid week...  Mon. high forecast is 91 degrees.  Followed by 95, 93, 90, and 91 degrees, the rest of the week.

There was "Jazz In The Park," on Sun. evening.  Free concerts, in the lovely Park.  But we didn't feel like going down...  When it's been a very hot/humid day...  -sigh-

One of those books, which I didn't read fully.  It's a skim, and get what I want, from it book.

It's an in depth look at the history of the Renaissance Faire.  I've never been to one.  But when I was on "Live Journal" blogging, there was much talk of Faires and attending them, etc.

You can read more about this book ("Well Met"), at "Good Reads", by clicking here.......

Our kitchen faucet was (finally) replaced, last week.  But the sprayer hose was installed in the wrong place...  Meaning, I can't pull the sprayer up far enough...  So we have to get the plumber back again this week.  ~~~~~~  It will only take about 5 minutes, and "Uncle A." could do it...  But I don't want him to.  We have had so much trouble, getting this ding-dang-faucet set fixed, that the plumbers should do ALLLLLLLL, on it.

I'm losing track of what books I have linked to...  Here.  I've been reading faster than reviewing books, on "Auntie's Reads 2013" and this has to stop.  I mean, I have to review, post, link to... right after I finish a book.  So I don't get mixed up.

Anyway, I loved "Buried In A Bog" (#41) and you can read my review, by clicking here....

I also loved "Bweitched, Bothered, and Biscotti"  by Bailey Cates!!!  My #42 book this year.  And the 2nd in this delightful series.  Loved it!!!!!!!!!

You can read my review, by clicking here....

Sad thing is, since finishing the above book, I've been hitting-a-wall, as to finding books-I-really-enjoy.  Oh I've gotten books out of the library.  But end up, losing interest in them.  -pout-  OH Bother!!!   But have a queue of "Cozy Mysteries" coming.  Hope they are really fun!!!

Well, I'll close this kind-of-blahhhhh post.  ,-)  No need of spreading my "blahhhh-ness," any farther, in Pretty Blog Land.  Hope your Monday is not starting out "blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"...  :-)

Bringing back an Annual Floral Parade... :-)

Old photo...  Isn't that the sweetest thing???  An old picture, from an earlier "Floral Parade."  For our 150th Ann. of Racing (this Season), we are resurrecting the "Floral Parade."  :-)  The First was held in 1894, and continued for years, until it got tooooo big, according to reports.  :-)

According to an official program, the Third Annual Floral Parade, consisted of "magnificently decorated private equipages," over 2 thousand bicycles decorated with flowers, and "the famous Olympic Bicycle Band on wheels."  Whooo-hooooo...  That must have been fun.

Certainly hope our resurrected one, will be pretty and fun too.  It ends with an Ice Cream Social in the Park.  Ice Cream donated by a local company.  :-)

And back to the present...  3 "Grands" over, to have "Pop" fix their bikes...

Still trying to get my picture size, big enough.  But not too big....

"Grands" showing us, some ripe wee, little tomatoes.

According to comments, my blog is now *working* for some, who had problems before.  Not so, for others.  -sigh-

Please keep telling me, of problems you have, with accessing and reading my blog.  With luck, all will smooth out eventually.  I'll keep this setting of only 1 entry showing...  And keep working on the pic size issue.  Keeping them nice-and-big, but not too-big.  :-)

"Look Changes"~~~City~~~Repairs~~~Etc.

(Urns, in the Park...)

As you can see, I did "Blog Look Work"!  :-)  I didn't intend to do all this.  But I messed up, some how...  And had to "fix" many things...

(Interesting tree roots, in the Park...)

So I figured, as long as I got started, I might as well continue.

(Ballet Slipper, in front of Drink Hall)

This summer, our city has quite a few of these Ballet Slipper sculptures, here and there...  This one, is on the lawn, in front of the old Drink Hall.  (The drinking referred to, is that of various Mineral Waters, of the area.)  :-)

(Closer look at Ballet Slipper, in front of Drink Hall)

And here is a cropped look, at it.  Needless to say, you'll be seeing more pics of these...  :-)

In summer, we have wildly painted Horse sculptures, here and there.  And this year, the addition of the Ballet Slipper sculptures.

This year is the Celebration of 150 Years of Thoroughbred Racing, in this city.  Lots of special events are planned.

We've been unable to get a local channel, on our tv.  So we called, and they tried to fix it, by whatever "magic" they use.  This time, it didn't work.  So they sent a repair man over, this morning.

Not only do we have our local channel back....  He fixed old cable, inside and outside.  He showed us the way squirrels had chewed on the outside cable.  Yikes!  And this messes with reception.

And really, we could see clearer colors on the TV!   We have the phone, tv and Internet connection Package.  He said my computer, may work faster also.

Did anyone ever think to request that their outside cable connection wires be checked, for stuff like squirrels chewing on them?

(1921 - 2013)
We all love Esther Williams' movies, yes?  Did you know that Turner Classic Movies is doing a tribute to her?  TCM pays tribute to legendary film star and swimmer Esther Williams with a 24-hour marathon of films beginning Thursday, June 13 at 8pm ET. And running till about 8pm Friday, June 14th.

I love it!  Her films are such a Joy.  Even after all these years.  The color.  The clothes.  The sets.  The extravaganzas.  The hair.  The fun.  :-)))))

First Peony...

I had one bottle of Mead, from my liquor store...  I wasn't too happy.  It was a bit too sweet, or something.  Thought that was the end of my Mead experience.

But!  Read of a local guy, who is making his own Mead.  His company is called The Helderberg Meadworks.  Look at that label!!!  How cool is that, hu?

Click here please, to go to his web site.

Whooo-hooooo...  I hope to have a bottle of his Mead, with which to Celebrate Mid Summer Night's Eve!!!

Poor little Daisys, got knocked down by the rain...

Tues. afternoon, I made my first Almond Pecan Bread.  Which is made in a bunt pan!  It is still cooling, and then I have to glaze it.  Oh I so hope it comes out, tasting good.

Later this evening, I'll take some over next door.  My daughter-in-law is Gluten Free and Sugar Free and Lactose Free, and Juicing too.  And of course, since "Gabe" liked my Paelo Bananan Bread, I have to have him try it too. !!!!

I hope, I hope, I hope it works!  If so, will show pics, in my  next post.

Yes, the poor little Daisys got knocked down, by this rain...

Out front.....  Too much purple in the Wave Peonies.  But pretty colors, in the Begonias.

These just won't quit.  And they make a pretty vignette, with the wild Queen Ann's Lace in front of them.

The 'spent' Poppy...
