"January is a stretch of peace
when one lives in the moment,
forced by weather and whim to
sit still and do some accounting.
It's telling that this is a month
named for a Roman god who
looked both forward and back-
ward. If you can't go out, perhaps
you can find yourself within."

Oh my gracious, isn't that lovely? Oh to be a writer, and be able to string words
together, like a calm and beautiful necklace of pearls. -happy sigh-

And this, from a lady in Ontario... Not necessarily a writer... She wrote a letter to the Editor of "Victoria" magazine, Jan./Feb. 2010, about her Winter.
"The night sky is clear, and hundreds of stars are visible.
When we go outside..., the air freezes inside our nostrils,
while the snow crunches beneath our feet. The cold seems
existential. Returning to our warm, cozy home,
we marvel at both nature's power and the quiet, stark beauty
of this frozen landscape in the middle of a busy city."

Hmmmmm... How are we doing, with looking on Jan.,
in such a peaceful and appreciative way?
♡
I admit it, I'm not doing nearly so well, as these two ladies.
Especially with getting "my knickers in a twist," the last couple of days...
Over blogging. When I said I was not gonna' get "my knickers in a twist."
-Hehhhhhhh-
♡
Any reason for a good 'getting-riled-up', hu? -sigh-
How come it's so easy to 'get-riled-up'?
And not so easy, to just flowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww?
♡
Mmmmmmmmmm, perhaps because we are human? :-))))

all these quotes and poems were written by people in the frozen north, come south to Florida and the sun is shining and we are wearing shorts and t-shirts in Jan. high today is 76 tomorrow is 80
Those are beautiful quotes and you are a writer, too, my dear. Don't toss out your ability to string a few words together as calm and beautiful as a pearl necklace. (That was beautiful!)
Okay, I switched to the new interface and I now have the new comment system. I may switch back. Who knows? Everything is so different... keeps the synapses firing.
Beautiful photos. Snow really 'is' pretty. Too bad it's so dangerous for us oldsters. That's why I decided to take off today. They're saying now it is going to snow all day tomorrow, perhaps up to five inches. Have to have food to eat. And besides, I have tons of sick time.
Mary
Thanks for sharing your beautiful words and quotes.
I live in south Florida were the snow melts on its way down from the clouds. We could use some rain, the grass is so dry its turning brown.
Hugs,
Pam :)
I can comment! I can comment! Yeah!!!!!! Happy Winter!
blessings,
karianne
Thanks for the calming post, The lovely words written by you and the others, should calm me down for about an hour. Then look out. Never can tell if its my dander, or snowflakes!! :)
Ommmmmmmm ...
Hi Auntie - aw, I'd say you do a great job of stringing words together!
Now if you really wanna sound like a poet (and a Texan) you'll have to say...
"I really got my panties in a wad." So, Auntie, you really got your panties in a wad over blogger issues. See?
OR as my son turned this phrase...
"Dad got all wadded up" over some such thing. Tony hates that. Me N Adam just laugh...
;)
Actually I'm having quite a nice January. I like going out but like staying home too. There is always something to keep me busy.
Getting out walking each morning really does put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. : )
I loved viewing your snowy weather...but, only in pictures. I'd much prefer what we're having right now...partly cloudy and mid 70s. The poetry is super. What a great share today "Ms. Auntie"
WHOA......you really did have a snow-eeee
winter in '08. Looks so cold....makes me want to go make a big fire and bring out the hot chocolate...but since it is supposed to get 70 here today, guess I won't. :))
I got tickled...I told you just last week that music on blogs bothered me...now I have 3 or 4 playing on my blog. I take it by spells...sometimes, I can't stand it...other times, I want all I can get.
and I LUV Little Richard...:)))
We are having a mild winter thus far here in Texas! Not at ALL like last year!! It is in the upper 70's today and I had to change from winter clothes to spring ones for the day!
Talk about getting our knickers in a twist!!! I can now comment on your blog.....but CANNOT comment on Vee's!! I could see that others could.....I saw the '30 comments' but I could not add mine to make it 31!!
I am not changing anything on blogger until I have to!
I love your picture with the snow covered chairs - it's sort of surreal!
Lynn :D
I think that you write beautifully - me I just write as it comes into my mind.
We're supposed to get 1-3inches tonight - I hope so. We haven't had any since October's odd ball storm.
Enjoy your weekend!
Leann
