♥Leap Year... Sadie Hawkins Day?

When is Sadie Hawkins Day?  I thought it was on Feb. 29th of Leap Year.  Thought there used to be Sadie Hawkins Day Dances held then...  But it says here, that's not so.

Feb. 29th in Leap Years, is connected to St. Bridget's Complaint

Ahhhhh, but here is the reason, for my confusion....

"Although the comic strip placed Sadie Hawkins Day in November, today it has become almost synonymous with February 29."

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then again, does anyone remember the comic strip "Li'l Abner"?  ,-)  If not, please click on that click-able link (in pink) and go seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  ,-)
is not Puritanism
but February."
Trying again as that needed too many fixes...
I didn't read Li'l Abner though my father supposedly went to school with a guy who grew up to be an artist who worked on this comic strip. So that's my one and only wee connection with it. And I didn't know about the Sadie Hawkins connection either.
So are you going to invite Uncle out somewhere or something? Take the reins as they say?
Vaguely remember Lil Abner, Auntie. I guess I noticed it cuz when I was very young I learned to draw by copying comic strips and I remember seeing Abner and Daisy Mae.
When I was 16, we had Sadie Hawkins Day at our high school IN THE FALL, and I asked my husband to go - first dance we went to. (I did NOT wear Daisy Duke butt-baring shorts.)
Happy Leap Year Day, Auntie!
The Goatmother's connection with L'il Abner is that she was Daisy Mae in the musical version in her hometown Little Theater production. Me? I see little point in running after a guy when you could have Peanuts. :)
Seems all the Good strips are now gone!
I, of course, being the age I am, grew up reading Lil Abner...and have heard about Sadie Hawkins Day all my life, too.
I think it is unofficially connected with Leap year.
You know, my grandloves don't even know what a FUNNY BOOK is. :(
Thanks for taking the trouble to visit and let me know that I had a word verification on my comments. I really thought it was turned off. I find it frustating to use when I want to comment and don't like it so wouldn't want others to go through that rigmarole on my site either. It is now definitely turned off.
I also remember reading Lil Abner when I was a kid, we didn't do the Sadie Hawkins thing though.
I had heard about Sadie Hawkins Day but never knew when it was. I don't think that was celebrated here in Canada, though. As for Li'l Abner I sure do remember him:-) I remember reading the comic strip in the newspaper every Saturday and my brothers had some of the comic books. Hope you had a wonderful Leap Day:-) xoxo
