"Uncle A." (aka "Pop") recently celebrated his 79th Birthday.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Daughter-in-law didn't try to put 79 candles on his Boston Creme Pie ("Pop's" favorite). So she put 6 candles on it. Since he has 6 Grands. Instead of blowing them out himself, he called for a "Group Blow Candles Out."

(Gabe, being his simply cute self...)
There have been a lot of Birthday Parties, around here. First a Granddaughter had her 14th, with a family get together and cake. Then the next night she had girl friends over for that party, and cake, and they came over after dark, and swam in our lighted pool. Then on Sun., was "Pop's" Birthday. With more cake.
Nope I didn't have any of the cakes, in case you were wondering. Haven't had any Birthday cakes, since I avoided a massive heart attack, by having my heart arteries stented, over 3 years ago. :-)))))

And here is my latest book (by a doctor) on health. Many articles you read today, say that gut fat is the worst kind of fat, to have on our bodies. And I have it. And it's hard to take off.
There is also a lot of consensus on the fact of inflammation-inside-the-body, being very bad. This book suggests how to work-on no longer adding foods to our body, which cause inflammation-inside-the-body.
Granted, with the various foods which I can no longer eat (because of Gluten and Lactose Intolerance, etc.), my selection of foods is limited, more than most people. But those 2 problems, do NOT eliminate many, many foods. And I can still eat many, many foods which contribute to inflammation-inside-the-body.
Actually, this (book's) way of eating, is really putting into practice, the Mediterranean Diet. Which has been hailed for a long time now, as good for us. It's NOT a wildly different or funny-combo-of-foods. It's simply fruits, veggies, whole grains (I can still eat a lot of them, besides wheat), less red meat, etc.
I think the biggest part of really following the Mediterranean Diet, is TO ELIMINATE ALL PROCESSED FOODS FROM OUR DIET. Processed foods are a huge source of inflammation-inside-the-body. Processed foods... Ya' know.... All the aisles on the inside of the grocery store.
Whole foods are all around the perimeter of the grocery store. The good stuff. The NOT PROCESSED stuff.
But inside isles have the processed foods... The kind that are "easy," and manufactured, and in a box, or a package, or a can... How eat without them???? The same way "Grandma" did... She took whole foods and cooked her own dinners, and baked her own desserts and make her own soups and.... You get the picture. -grin-

OK!!! "Auntie's" "Health Wisdom 101" is over for now. (....And a relieved sigh is heard, across "Pretty Blog Land"!!! -gigggles-) Now take a close look at around the little bird bath fountain pond... Can you find the (now) 5 resident frogs, sunning themselves? 3 closest are easy to spot. The last 2 are kind of hidden. But I made sure to count the number of splashes, when I scared them and they jumped back into the pool. ,-)
One was recently rescued by "Uncle A.," out of the pool skimmer!!!! And given home, in the pond. ,-)

Tell Uncle A Happy Birthday for me and Boston Cream Pie is my favorite as well. Looks like a great book. I've several of those Idiot's Guides on different subjects. Love them.

*Sigh* =D
Happy Birthday to one and all! Uncle is making 79 look fantastic!
Oh, Auntie! I am SO glad to see you reading this book! I can tell you it makes a difference. Especially eliminating sugar (and you would NOT believe how prevalent it is in our food supply!) I had arthritis soreness in nearly every joint which has been virtually eliminated just through following this kind of diet and eliminating as much sugar as possilbe. It DOES make a difference. P.S. Check out Dr. Andrew Weil's site on the Anti Inflammatory diet on the web also. Great information!
Happy late birthday to Uncle A!!
Just last night I heard about a link:
http://www.myheartbook.com
Haven't checked it out yet but the guy is wonderful to listen to.
hughugs
Happy Birthday, Uncle A, and thanks, Auntie for all the information. It is true that we, as a country, eat way too many processed foods -- I think we all got lazy, and now we're paying for it!
I couldn't find the frogs :-<
Peace,
Muff
Happy Birthday to UncleA! : )
I haven't had a Boston Cream Pie ages but I do like them!!!
I saw the three frog right away. I think I see two more on the rocks almost hidden behind the green leaves.
that cake looks DEVINE... i love that first photo, a perfect family memory.
Happy Birthday "Uncle A.", and many more.
I love Idiot books...I have quite a few of them on lots of subjects. Proud of you "Auntie" for not having cake! I would like you to stay with us in blogging land for many, many more years :)
Happy Birthday to Uncle A. Hope you all are doing well.
Happy Birthday Uncle A....Oh and your take on the whole foods...I was just discussing that with my goddess at the natural food store...how now I mostly shop on the perimeter, barely touch the inside aisles..that book looks interesting considering i have Crohn's ..I'm going to see if our local library has a copy
I love Gabe's little feet!
Looks like a HAPPY Birthday - the only kind to have!!!
(LD will be 76 in November - I think the fact that your husband and mine stay so active is what keeps them so YOUNG!)
I (sadly) have gut fat, too!
Happy Birthday to all the birthday celebraters....I don't even remember the last time I had cake....I don't miss is though...great photos...love those curly locks on that precious Gabe...
I suppose a Boston Cream Pie falls into the Atlantic Diet category....
