"Here's to the old apple tree..."

Have any of you Dear Readers, made an Apple Pie...  Frozen it...  Thawed it...   And then bake it?  I'd like to do this, before Thanksgiving.  But never tried it.  Does anyone have any pointers, please?

Ice...  It's a good thing that "Uncle A." got the winterizing 'stuff' in the gas, in the old truck...

Frosted Rose leaves...  Good thing that he got the Old Rose bushes, under a layer of leaves...

I love pictures of frost.  Is it called "hoer frost" perhaps?  Don't know where I remember that name from, but I remember it.

"Here's to the old apple tree,
Bud and blow,
And bear apples enow,
Hats-full, caps-full, three-bushel bags-full
And some for the boys to steal.

~ Traditional saying

I've never made a pie, frozen it, and thawed it. Hope that you find a good solution for your holiday table. (My solution? Buy a homemade pie from the Library Association. ☺)

I just buy pies, so can't help you there. I love hoer frost, especially when the sun shine on it, making it all sparkle!!

I'm not a pie maker, but my grandmother was. We had an apple tree in our backyard growing up and there were apple pies from it. They were winter apples, but good for pie and sauce.

My mother used to blind bake a pastry case and freeze it and some cooked apple separately and then quickly put the pie together and heat it through once the components had thawed. No idea if that helps.

They never last long enough for freezing around here....and yes, there is such a thing as hoar frost. If I remember correctly, it's a really hard frost that turns everything white.

Do you remember the song "Don't sit under the apple tree/With anyone else but me"? One of my dad's favourites.

Yes! I've frozen apple pies...unbaked ones. We had apple trees when we lived in the country and one year my grandmother, who was a wonderful cook, helped me make at least a couple of dozen. She made the crusts, which I hate to do, and I peeled apples and put together the filling. Just pop in the oven unthawed. I even canned apple pie filling since I didn't have enough room in the freezer for more pies. :) I don't make too many pies these days without using Pillsbury pie crusts. I still don't have much success with rolling out, etc.!! And Mrs. Smith or Sara Lee makes a pretty good pie, too. I like one better over the other, but can't remember which at the moment.
As to the hoar frost, it's very pretty when everything is covered. It's really picture- postcard beautiful!
In answer to your comment about my hand. My kitten tripped me up and I threw my hand out against the door frame to keep myself from falling. It felt like I bent my ring finger and little finger backwards. Ouch!! This happened about 10 days ago.
Good luck with the apple pie!
