How to avoid that "bare" look...
NO, silly! Not THAT "bare" look...!!!
~~~
THIS "bare" look...!
The "bare" look of your house, after you take down the Christmas decorations and put them away!!!
That "bare" look... No happy Jingle Bells or Christmas trees or holly or dancing elves, etc. ,-)
~~~
But...!!!
~~~
Pat ("Back Porch Musings" blog) has done a simply beautiful post, on replacing your Christmas decorations...
With Silvery, Winter ones.
Her post is simply beautiful... Please go over and see/read it!
Thanks for the link! I always leave my "winter" decorations up - like pine cones in a bowl and even my evergreen wreath is still hanging outside. No need to put it all away!
Nice look...sweet blog pal
my house has the bare look and that is what i like the best. i love that photo with nothing on the desk. i don't decorate, and for Christmas just the nook has the tree and a few glass things, and when i put them away i sigh with relief that i am back to bare. i am minimalist to the bone...you would have a fit looking at my house. my mother loved to decorate for every season and she had all the pretties like you have. i love to look at pretties but not in my own house.
It's funny you wrote this today, for last night I was mourning how bare my livingroom looks now that all the decorations are "put to rest" for the year :)
What beautiful decor!
Great idea!! I try to leave a few 'wintery' things around. Like snowmen and pine cones :)
what a great idea! i will take a look right now!
Oh yes! We decorate for every other season, yet so often leave winter out just because Christmas preceded it. Makes no sense to me. So many of my Christmas things also serve as winter things...it can feel a little cold so one has to be careful. I loved that post of Pat's. She is a very artful gal!
It makes me feel cold just to look at that bare young lady.
Many of my Christmas decorations have a general wintry theme, so I tend to leave them up for a while after the tree is gone.
Pat's post looks lovely! Shall check out her photos.
Oooh..bare makes me cold too. All of the Christmas decorations are still up here. I hate to rush into things!
Thanks so much for the visit!
Hahahahaaaa....well, I'll go look after I stop laughing!! You got me!
((((HUG))))
We have all of our decorations down, too. It does look bare...but we always look forward to next year!
Hugs and love,
J.
I have quite a lot of collections of different things so I don't have the bare look, even after the Christmas decorations come down!! : )
Gorgeous and makes sense to me!
Happy New Year sweet friend!
I always hate taking the decorations down, but this year I'm kind of looking forward to it in a way. Hubby bought me a mother and baby giraffe set whittled out of wood, and I can't wait to set it up. I also bought some polar bears for Christmas decor, but I think they can add some year round joy to my house.
I've just been thinking about this very thing! The bare look vs the cozy, Christmas look. I think Pat has a beautiful home, but I like a more colorful and cozy look. The wintry look isn't quite as colorful as I'd like. Unless the snowmen have red scarves around their necks. :)
I've been pondering what changes or additions to make. I love the lights, but I'm not going to leave the trees up. Are more lamps placed around the answer?
Great post, Auntie!
I have to admit this - we did take our Christmas down - I like to have empty spaces - I breathe better! lol sandie
Very nice! I keep 'stuff' and 'debris' up year round! Some of it is actually Christmas.....but who cares? It's pretty!!
Absolutely Gorgeous!!! I Love The Look!!!
I took your advice and added some tiny white lights to my fake tree that I keep in my living-room. I still have to come-up with some more ideas :)
Hugs Auntie,
Jan
Thank you for the mention, Auntie. I appreciate it.:-)
I spent all day yesterday cleaning and putting my apartment back in place with a few new touches. The winter look is lovely....maybe an idea for next year.
I have several Bare Spots. Still haven't figured out where to put things from moving a year ago. LOL
