Old photos, new film, wasted time... -pout-

These 4 photos below (not about the film...) are old photos, from an old blog of mine.  We were out Sat., but not to take pictures.  Just to get errands done.  ~~~~~~  These pictures below, are of big/long icicles...  And of a couple of our many, many Springs...  Both flowing and frozen.

I came across a review of another one of those great films of "olden folks."  ,-)  (Something like "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" was...)  This one is called "Quartet."  And has great actors like Maggie Smith,  Pauline Collins, Billy Connolly and etc., in it.

It's set in a home for retired opera singers.  Or rather, a home for down-and-out old opera singers.  The resident's equilibrium is upset by the arrival of an old Diva (played by Maggie Smith).  Perhaps "Downton Abbey" fans would like another chance to see Maggie Smith, playing this *uppity* kind of a role?  :-)

there is nothing wrong with nursery
food now that we are grown up and
can have a glass of wine with it."
~Elizabeth Ray

Sadly, I wasted a time, reading 100 pages of "Beautiful Darkness," a 500 page book.  -moan-  I hate to waste time, that way.  ~~~~~~~~~  "Granddaughter S." is so excited about this series, because it's coming out as a film, next month.  She was telling me about it, and I remembered; "She wears a necklace of reminders of memories!"  Yes!!!  I had read enough (In the 1st book "Beautiful Creatures") to remember that.  Magic...  Set in the South...  Yesss!!!  So if the film is coming, I better get going on the other books in the Series.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  But 100 pages into the 2nd one, and its just not my kind of magic book...  -sigh-  Plus, the writing seems to be drawn out.  Tiresome.  -pout-  ~~~~~~~~~  But I have "The Lace Reader" to pick up today!!!  :-)

Today/Sun. is another Big-Football-Day!  All my cute quarterbacks have been eliminated, so it's not that interesting to me.  "Uncle A." doesn't still have a favorite in the running either.   Other than Grandson J.'s fav team (The Ravens) are still in the running, to play in the Super Bowl.   "Pop" will go next door and watch that game, with J. and family.  :-)))

They'll watch the Super Bowl together too.  FUN!  Good FOOD!  Hopefully Good FOOTBALL.   One of those silly-but-ingrained American Habits.  ,-)  For some people, that is.  I know, not all watch the Super Bowl.

How beautiful these photos are of the icicles and that gorgeous fountain!!!

Auntie, I just adore watching anything with Maggie Smith in it! She is a fantastic actress and plays her parts with feeling and brings her characters to life!!!

When I find a book that I am reading won't hold my attention or bring wonderful pictures to my mind...I stop trying to read and focus on it. There are so many more books out there that are waiting to take me somewhere, real or not and I can't wait to find them :)

Hugs,
Jan

Lots of wonderful photos indeed, and yeah I hate when I waste time watching or reading something that is not my cup of tea.

I paused and studied each photo of icicles. They are beautiful. I have a fascination with them (probably because we don't see many (if any) of them at all.) Thank you for sharing!
Hugs,
Jackie

I just finished a book that I really didn't care for, but made myself finish it before moving on to a new one. The Witches Daughter - LOVED it!!!

We watch football - love to make the food for the games and to watch it too.

Have a great week!

We watch the Super Bowl here, always...even though The Lions are nowhere near close to ever even making the same paragraph as the word SuperBowl, much less the game itself. ;)

Loving your post today....all your cute quarter backs have been eliminated...LOL...you watch football like me :) Love the ice cycles. I have been reading one of my recently purchased vintage books. It has different stories. Most are death and virtues. Oddly strange but good reading.
