This & that, and that & this, and more...

"My ancient white house with its
steep roof and low eves looks like
a ship anchored in a still, white sea."
~Gladys Taber

(Sparkles...)

Wed.  Noon time... Just finished "Seraphenia" and it was wonnnnnderful!!!  I look forward to the next book in this series.  It's so super, when you find a book, which is exhilarating.

Early on in the book, delving into a whole new world, isn't easy.  But I'm so glad I didn't give up.  I highly recommend this book!!!!!

(Tracks...)

Wed. 12:40PM Eastern Time...
Just read a grrrrrrreat post at "BJ's blog.   "A Cold Wind A'Blowin'"   Full of suggestions and ideas, for all of us...   For the hard times we are all facing.  Ideas on saving money, each week.  And on eating healthy.  And many things.    An impressive post.

Wondering to "BJ," if a lot of us in Pretty Blog Land, might consider starting a section (at the bottom of) on our blog entries...  Mark it something like "TIPS FOR HARD TIMES" or some such...  When we come across, or think of a tip with fits, we could write it there.  Perhaps helping someone, with a new idea...

Your thoughts, Dear Reader??????

(Concentration...)

Wed. 12:50PM Eastern Time...
Look at that look of concentration on Gabe.  When he came over for a visit, recently.  Of course he played with the Little Train.  But got his blocks out, and began using his own imagination!  The blocks didn't "talk" or "move" or "interact."  They were just blocks.  Until he made them something, with his own imagination.  LOVE IT!!!

Let's make sure children have some things, which are not totally-interactive, to play with!  Let's make sure that children get a chance, to use their own imaginations!  Please...

(I love frosted anything...)

Wed. 04:55PM Eastern Time...
-chuckle-  See?  I'm kind-of having my own Twitter here, on my blog entry.  Ya'know how on Twitter, you simply say/tell...  "What I am doing now"...  Well, that's what I'm doing, today, on my blog!  ,-)

Today I took everything back to the library.  And came home with a new batch of books.  And a dvd too.  ...
Yes, that RED book IS called "The Case of The Bouncing Grandma"!  What is it about?  I don't know.  Except it had better be a "Cozy"!  And yes, I have a left-over Holiday Themed book.  So what?  >,-)
And also Yes, I have a couple of Susan Branch books, to sink into and get to feeling all warm and cozy and happy and safe and peaceful and cheery...   My brain wants to let "The Worries" keep pecking at me.  And since it is totally stupid, to let "The Worries" keep pecking at me, I will use Susan, as an antidote.
How silly, to allow ourselves to spend any time, concerned about that which might happen, but certainly has not happened yet.  Silly to waste our pleasant "NOW" ...  On possible future 'Ughs'.    But how hard to keep that Wisdom, front and center.  -sigh-

Dear Reader, how do you rid yourself of "The Worries About That Which Might Happen"?  Please share.  We all have them "pecking" at us, some of the time.  And we all could use ideas, to banish them.

"To all, to each, a fair good night,
And pleasing dreams; and
slumbers light."
~~Sir Walter Scott

Haven't seen any snow here in a couple years at least so I enjoy it vicariously through your photos. Thanks for the link. I've been looking for a good recipe for potato soup. I'll find a way to cut the sodium.\

Well my grandson is 11 - and I love when he PLAYS with things or talks with us - and has his head out of electronics!

Also I don't know why it is so warm here - in the 70's in January. But no snow like you!

We watched Dr. Phil last evening and wondered if the book mentioned would help with the anxiety that can wheedle in. Most of my anxiety is the result of wondering if I am the only one who sees that we are in a big heap o trouble in this country. It can be a challenge to see that the emperor is naked every single day. :o

Yes, children must use their imaginations as Gabe is doing so well. My grands still love blocks and now they also enjoy their Legos creating wonderful things.

You have a fine collection of books to read. I am intrigued by the bouncing grandma!

Oh a tip section on any blog could be interesting. Of course there are so many doing this daily. Hmmmm...maybe I should gather a list of helpful hints sites. I saw that Martha Stewart even had one on her site. She included some pretty good ones, too.

Auntie we really do have a habit of wasting our pleasant "now" on worrying of the future or ruminating about the past. We spend so much time looking forward and backward that we rarely ever just enjoy the here and now.

I admire how often you use your library resources! I did that for YEARS!!! I looked longingly at the library when I passed it on our recent trip home. But two weeks is not longer enough - although I could recheck them automatically. I am hoping to find the time to locate a library branch here in Katy. My rental receipt from the RV Park should prove me to resident material!

Hi Auntie!

Thanks for stopping by! Please let us know what happens with your egg in water... we'd be very interested to find out.

I love for children to have basic things like blocks or Lincoln Logs to create with. My grands always have so much fun creating when they're here. I have costumes for them and lots of simple toys and baby dolls. Their parents don't like make believe stuff but I always tell them that the grands can imagine to their hearts content at our house! No complaints yet.

As far as worrying about the future - we always have to make sure we are right with God, we know not what day or hour that anything will happen in this world. We can only look forward to where we are going in the end. We must go about our lives in the meantime and worry only blocks us from doing anything today.

Love your post! Big hugs, Sherry

Hi Auntie

Seraphina is going on my list of books to read this year - we have such similar tastes. Yes I watched NCIS - Loved it!

My worries are constantly with me but at night when I lay down they plague me the worst - so I pray that I can "Let go and Let God!"

Happy Thursday!

I just refuse to generate fear for myself by worrying about What May Be...God sees and will get us all through it...
Love the tip idea though!

Auntie, I always love to read your blog! Your photo of Gabe playing is just so sweet. He's so adorable!
I think tips, especially on how to cope with the stresses/worries today over where this country is headed might be a good idea. I TRY not to worry overmuch, but some days I'm more successful than others. Household tips are another that I love to collect.
You have mentioned some very interesting books, I just wish I had time to read them...I spend way too much time on the computer.
Have a happy day!

I love coming home from the library with a whole stack of books. Such a great feeling. Your stack should keep you busy and happy!!

When my grandkids come over, we play with blocks all the time. We also like to color and go for walks. No surprise there huh ?

I'm one of those people who don't worry much.
My reason, I give my worry over to God. : )

I so agree with the imagination toys for children..toys that make them use their imagination...not feed them full of stuff...Hotrod can play with an empty box and have a great time...I love just watching his imagination go...

Your little Gabe is so adorable. I could just kiss his skin off. :)
I know something he would just love...well, at least all 10 of our grands loved them when they were little.
Let me get the web address and I'll come right back....
