Cold! Books... Chair!!! :-)))

I am so tired of being cold...

I repeat, I am so tired of being cold...

But I shouldn't complain too loudly.  This latest NE storm, has not even moved our barometer. Nor dropped a flake of snow.  I'll take it!  Although the Weather Report says it's still coming.

Upstairs, I found a book which I got, when our oldest "Grand" was a little girl, and I was taking "Nana-Day-Care" of her.  "The Fantastic Drawings of Danielle," written and illustrated by Barbara McClintock.  From the art work on the cover, you can see why I loved, loved, loved this book.

Soft!  Imaginative!  Precious!

You know where I'm going, with this, don't you?????  Such perfect illustrations, to try to draw myself!  And water color...  :-)

I readily admit, I just don't have the imagination, to think up interesting drawing topics.  And neither do I have the particular talent, to look at reality, and draw it on paper.  (As Susan Branch seems to have)  So, I do a form of copying.  A form of!!!!!  If I laid tracing paper over the pic and copied it and passed it off, as my own, THAT  would be really COPYING.  I simply look at an illustration, and try to do it, myself.

I've been working my way through a few books, which I don't read-cover-to-cover.  So they don't go on my "Auntie's Reads 2013" blog.  These books, I skim over.  Reading here and there, gathering the information, which I want.  Non-fiction, of course.  For me, it's fun to have a couple of those, to dip into, when not in the mood for deep immersion into fiction.  :-)

The Chair!!!  "Uncle A." looks like a happy man, does he not???  :-))))))))))))))

It's Mission Style and I dislike Mission Style.  But that doesn't matter!  The only thing which matters is, that he sat in many, and this was the most comfortable to him.  !!!!!!!!

haha looks very comfy in the chair, and I'm the opposite, have the ideas but can't draw past stick people.

He does look very comfortable in the chair. I like mission style so it totally works for me! =D I'm such an eclectic person.

Now I'm wondering about your background and I'm wondering what would happen if it were cropped down to the lightest portions of the paper. Just wondering...

We need to get Louis Dean a new chair when we finally go home to stay!

If you paint something yourself - copy or not - it is considered 'Original art.' That's how the old masters used to paint. I'm reading a book on Van Gogh now and that's exactly what he did - at the beginning as well as when he would go into an uninspired (to him) period. He would go back and paint the masters. His brother Cleo sold them in his gallery.

Auntie, You are right about the cold..I'm ready for some spring warmth. Uncle looks very pleased sitting in his chair. I love the art of Susan Branch. She's a natural. When I paint, I need something for inspiration. I have a ton of books for that, plus I save photos from magazines. My problems is , I love painting with others. I guess it's the motivational thing. Stay warm , xoxo,Susie

Oh, to be able to draw and paint like Susan Branch!! When I used to dabble in painting, I'd used patterns or eyeball something.

That's a great looking chair. I can tell Uncle A is quite happy with it!

Now, that looks like a chair I could get lost in. I've always wished I could paint, but paint by number is all I was able to do.

Uncle looks happy and content sitting in his chair.
I like the looks of the mission style but like soft arms on my chairs.

Love the Danielle book cover and yes, can see why you love it too. : )

Uncle A looks happy and comfy...you can't ask for more than that :)

The books you posted all seem interesting and for different reasons. This is why I love being eclectic in my books and in my life.

Try to keep warm, Auntie. Winter can be a bit tiring but then for me...so can summer :)

Where is my head??? I forgot to mention that your background is lovely and I adore your new header photo of your mantel~~~

Oh yes! That makes all the difference. (I'd noticed this with some of the background pictures I was using...it as better to crop it way down.)

I am tired of being cold myself...your photo's captured cold really well. :) Uncle does look comfy and that is what counts I suppose. My Frank has a big black fake leather recliner. I dislike it so much but he is comfortable in it. :(
