INNNNNNNTERESTING night, I say... :-(

On the 4th of July, there were lots of other desserts, for rest of the family.  But I made these, for my daughter-in-law and myself...  We who are staying Gluten/Free.  And mostly lactose free and sugar free.

Yes, that is fruit and real whipped cream, layered.  And if we *pay* some, for ingesting lactose, so be it.  :-)  But we had our own yummmmmy loooooking parfait!!!!  -grin-

One of those "Surprise Photo Ops"!!  -grin-  I added some clear dish washing liquid, to the little bit left, of the pomegranate (pink) dish washing liquid.

The pink on the bottom, started rising up, through the clear.  I was mesmerized.  And I kept clicking...  -grin-  A "Because-I-Can" photo op!!!

 Well, last night was interesting...  :-(  At 2am, our alarm system went off.  And when I say "went off," I mean loud enough to wake the dead, and nearly fracture ear drums.  Between ourselves and the Alarm Co., we deduced that no break-in-attempt had occurred.  But the system said; "Front door was violated."

Nope.

The Co. has to come over and check it out.  Some glitch in the system...  Some low battery or something...  Well, we know it makes a helllllllll of a lot of noissssssssse!

 Whole lot of Phish-ing going on, in town, this weekend.  Ugh...  Ugh...  Ugh...  Guess what?  I'm not a fan.

Nor am I a fan, of all the illegal substances, which are floating around, during this annual occurrence.

Yes folks, "Auntie" is "Olden".  She may have fun with some Hollywood Soap Operas.  But this Phish-stuff, is beyond her/me.

The forest, is a swamp...!!! :-(

I know this is nothing, compared to the flooding, in many places.

But the college land, across from us, overflowed last evening.  See it flowing????

What aggravates us is...  That the college has promised the home owners, who live near this lovely, old, wooded area...  That it would remain untouched.  But it has not.

It is becoming more and more of a swamp, because of college cutting trees, building buildings, and making parking lots.  And they are *supposed* to be SO  GREEN.....

OK, I got that rant out!

I hope all my fellow Citizens, are ready to Celebrate the 4th of July...

"Who wants to feed that to your kids?"~~~plus other stuff

Wondering if you can *see* my New Hair Style?  :-)  I never can get a pic, to show what I see in the mirror, but.  Anyway, I had Patricia cut it very short, on the right side.  And I've been letting, from the (right side) part, to the ends,  grow for a while.  Since it was layered very short, for the "Judi Dench" look, it's taking a long time to sort-of-grow-out.  But by now, with 1 side cut short and the left side growing, it actually looks like a *new* hair style.  :-)

And all I do is blow dry with a big, round brush.  The left side of my hair always wants to flip-up.  So, I like to go-with-it.  And I'm happy with the look.  :-)

We 3 families share one lawn mower, here on "The Compound."  The other day when our daughter-in-law was cutting our grass, it began to SMOKE!  Eeeek!  Something wrong!  Ask "Pop" (aka "Uncle A.", aka "Dad")

Seems there was an oil problem.  Which took some "babying," to get fixed.  "Pop," son, and 2 youngest "Grands" had *fun* with getting it working again.  :-)  Son and "Pop" worked...  "Grands" watched... "Nana" kept "Grands" from getting into-the-"gunk"!  ,-)

(This Juice looked a bit pink, due to strawberries and etc., in it.  :-))

From: "Greenpoint" A Schenectady Gazette community blog...  Ideas on greener living

""Why are you growing potatoes when potatoes are so cheap?" a friend once asked, and the answer is that potatoes are good at absorbing whatever pesticides they are grown in, and that commercial potatoes are also run through a fungicide bath before being bagged.  Who wants to feed that  to your kids?"

Spring has flown~~~Greens~~~Possible Ratio~~~

First flower to bloom, in "Uncle A's" front garden.  A Stella Doro.

It's cold up here.  Spring blew away, on all the wind, we've been having.  With frost temps possible at night, if one has plants planted outside, they had better be covered, at night.  To be on the safe side.

The ferns are coming up.

We are mostly sticking to the usual plan of not planting much, till Memorial Day.

Lily Of The Valley,

But as I have showed you, next door has their gardens well planted.

See the little white "bits," and "stuff" scattered around on the green leaves?  They are things falling, from spring- time trees.  ~~~~~~~~  Some pale green "bits," get all over the car, and make a mess.  Ahhhhh spring......

Well, the Creepy News is, that the Government targeted groups of citizens, by (click-->) using the IRS.

And that the Government has  (click-->) obtained AP News phone records

But the &*^&%$#%^&*^%^% Abortion  (click-->) Doc got convicted

What's that?  Lose 2 and Win 1...???  Here in The Land Of The Free and The Home Of The Brave...

"The Internet is a........"

"The Internet is a surveillance state"  by Bruce Schneir

Excerpt:
"So, we're done. Welcome to a world where Google knows exactly what sort of porn you all like, and more about your interests than your spouse does. Welcome to a world where your cell phone company knows exactly where you are all the time. Welcome to the end of private conversations, because increasingly your conversations are conducted by e-mail, text, or social networking sites.

And welcome to a world where all of this, and everything else that you do or is done on a computer, is saved, correlated, studied, passed around from company to company without your knowledge or consent; and where the government accesses it at will without a warrant.

Welcome to an Internet without privacy, and we've ended up here with hardly a fight."

Quartz...Views...Books...Blahhhh...

We found this quartz half, down cellar...  Something which survived the "big clean out."  "Uncle A." washed it well and it's lovely, again.  :-)  The holder is gone...    He'll have to make another 'thing,' to hold it correctly.  Out of wood.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Just a light-shadow, on the kitchen floor...)
Our heating system quit, Wedesday morning.  So Wes (our long time plumber) came over and got it going again.  A couple more things have to be installed, but that will be another day was done on Thurs.  I'll tell ya', tiss way too soon, to be without heat, in the house.  -chuckle-
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, I had been "pushing the envelope" on dairy consumption.  And today, I "paid the piper."  With a sudden and long trip to the "looooooo."  lol.  Too much information, I know.  But just letting you know, why I do NOT  EAT  many things, which I DO  NOT  EAT.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
My gut has a way of keeping me *on the straight and narrow.*  Which is a good thing.  If I could consume loads of "bad-for-me-things," and get away with it, would I be as careful, as I am?  Don't know.  But don't have to find out.  :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Do you Dear Reader, have any health necessities, which your body insures that you *keep on the straight and narrow,* about?????????????
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"When asked to explain the brisk pace of his novels, Elmore Leonard said; "I leave out the parts that people skip.""  (Written by George Will)    Sadly, that's what I feel like I have to do, when composing blog posts.  Leave out a lot, because Dear Readers may just skip words/thoughts, if I don't.
Do you get this feeling also?  Do you sometimes begin, with a plump paragraph?  And end up, with 3 sentences?   Do your own eyes tend to "glaze over," when you open a post, with lots and lots of words?
A tiny detour here, for a mention of a fav peeve of mine.......  Writing, which is not broken up into paragraphs Eeek!  Eeeek!  Eeeek!  Please people, begin a new paragraph, when you move to a different aspect, of your over-all topic.  IN Comments too...  Please and thank you.
It's still cold here in my neck of the woods.  I'm not feeling particularly *Spring-eee*.  But so many bloggers are, feeling *Spring-eee,* that I thought I'd add a pretty picture from a Net source.
Actually, I really need to PERK  MYSELF  UP!!!  I'm getting tired of blogging,  tired of trying to do a wee bit of art, tired of doing even a little baking, etc.  Blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh kind of covers it.  And I DO NOT HAVE A REASON to feel Blahhhhhhhhhhh.
So snap yourself out of it, "Auntie"!!!
Hip, hip, hip!
Get to it!!!!
Perk up!!!!
NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cold! Books... Chair!!! :-)))
I am so tired of being cold...
I repeat, I am so tired of being cold...
But I shouldn't complain too loudly.  This latest NE storm, has not even moved our barometer. Nor dropped a flake of snow.  I'll take it!  Although the Weather Report says it's still coming.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Upstairs, I found a book which I got, when our oldest "Grand" was a little girl, and I was taking "Nana-Day-Care" of her.  "The Fantastic Drawings of Danielle," written and illustrated by Barbara McClintock.  From the art work on the cover, you can see why I loved, loved, loved this book.

Soft!  Imaginative!  Precious!

You know where I'm going, with this, don't you?????  Such perfect illustrations, to try to draw myself!  And water color...  :-)

I readily admit, I just don't have the imagination, to think up interesting drawing topics.  And neither do I have the particular talent, to look at reality, and draw it on paper.  (As Susan Branch seems to have)  So, I do a form of copying.  A form of!!!!!  If I laid tracing paper over the pic and copied it and passed it off, as my own, THAT  would be really COPYING.  I simply look at an illustration, and try to do it, myself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been working my way through a few books, which I don't read-cover-to-cover.  So they don't go on my "Auntie's Reads 2013" blog.  These books, I skim over.  Reading here and there, gathering the information, which I want.  Non-fiction, of course.  For me, it's fun to have a couple of those, to dip into, when not in the mood for deep immersion into fiction.  :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Chair!!!  "Uncle A." looks like a happy man, does he not???  :-))))))))))))))

It's Mission Style and I dislike Mission Style.  But that doesn't matter!  The only thing which matters is, that he sat in many, and this was the most comfortable to him.  !!!!!!!!

Well, that was interesting... UPDATE

Well, that was interesting...  We live across the street from a college campus.  Last night, the campus was put on lock-down, and police checked all, coming or going...  Looking for an off-campus person, who had allegedly threatened a student.

Our daughter lives up on the corner, near a walking entrance, to the campus.  Police cars all over the place.  She called our son, who lives between her house and our house.  He called here, to tell me to put the SCANNER on.  We called others in the neighborhood, and we put our outside lights on.  We figured, if someone was sneaking around here, they'd move on, because of our little well-lit neighborhood area.  -chuckle-

Campus lock-down called off during the night, but security still in place.  Now authorities don't even know if the possible "bad guy," is even in the area.  He's from out of state, and may be headed for NJ.

Interesting.  Not fun.

Now we quietly wait for "Uncle A.'s" new chair to be delivered.  :-)
---------------------------------------------

UPDATE:

 10:00AM
This person has been apprehended.  And the campus has returned to normal operations.
So has the neighborhood.  -grin-

Ugh...Eeeeek...Books, books, books... :-)))

Ugh...

Look what's coming again...

Soon...

March 10th...

But since the *real* time change, is during our sleeping hours, we have to remember to set the clocks back, on 3/09 Saturday night.  -sigh-   Here we go again!!!

Oh I know, that some people are very happy with Spring-time DST.  But I'm not happy, with any messing with Nature's Time.  I am a creature of this Universe.  I wish to live, in harmony with the rhythms of this planet Earth.  I wish to live by the movement of the sun and the moon.  If I "had-my-druthers", I'd cover every clock, and pay no attention to them.

But in this modern world, of keeping appointments and etc....  We can't just live on Nature's  Time...  Unless we are totally off the grid...

But!  For all the days/nights we don't have appointments on the calendar, I can do just that!  Live on Nature's Time!!!  "Auntie" sezzzzzz...   ,-)

Are you Dear Reader, noticing lots of Blogger Error Messages?  Here and there and here and there?  Mmmmmm...  Should we  be worried?!?  What is going on with Blogger?  To cause these *scary* messages to keep popping up?!?

Finished "The Fifth Assassin" by Brad Meltzer.  Fascinating.
Read more by clicking this link...  To go to "Auntie's Reads 2013."

Also finished another book this weekend, but I'll wait, to put that review, on "Auntie's Reads 2013."

So far in 2013, I've read 18 books.

That's 18 books in 10 weeks, if I calculate correctly.

Kind of goes to show, the lack of compelling-things-on-tv, doesn't it?  ,-)
