Our little Friday ride, was a ways outside of town, to a local winery. They don't grow their own wines here, but bottle/sell mainly NYS wines. I like that. The use of my state wines, I mean.
The main room is bright and rustic (shown a bit, in pic below). But I fell in love with the above room, with its 'Faerie Lights' entwined in tree branches, on the ceiling. And they work so well, with the the little-darker ambiance. Yummmmmmy!!!!

My choice is sweet wines. Tara gave me a white, to sip and try first. But it wasn't what I call *sweet enough.* Guess I like sipping wines, not wines one would drink with dinner. Anyway, she had a couple of dark ones for me to try, which are something akin to Port. Not AS thick as Port but.........
Of course, I picked the one which costs less. :-)))) But "Uncle Ed" said to get the other one too. :-)

Those with allergy issues in our family, are suffering, in this long-drawn-out Autumn. We sooooooooooooo wish for a killing frost!!! To kill the mold and etc., which is floating through the air, blowing on the wind, and giving our allergies grief. -sigh-
Usually, I dread November weather. Cold, rainy, dark, etc. But not this season. This season I crave it and will welcome it, as soon as possible. For the cold to bring killing frost, for our allergies. And... To see how long all those *Jolly Occupiers* will continue their *Jolly Occupations,* when the balmy days of Autumn depart.
Heh, heh, heh... -chuckle- -cackle- -evil grin-

Have books to return to library and books to pick up at library. Need to get going. :-)
One of my fun mystery reads ("High Rhymes And Misdemeanors" by Diana Killian), got me interested in Lord Byron. This author well-knows both facts and lore, about Byron. And now I want to read more about him and the other Romantics.
One of the fun things about reading... Finding other tangents to *hop off on* and follow and read more on.
Had high hopes for "The Circular Staircase" by Mary Roberts Rinehart. But slogged through 50 pages one day, and 50 the next, and gave up yesterday. Too many books, too little time, to keep slogging on one which I feel thus, about. :-)

(Yes, you read that right! -grin- On the right is "Hillbilly Mountain Mash Melomel."
And on the left is "Bloodroot Melomel." I love both names!!!)
See what cute names you have on your bottles, when you like sweet wine?!?

"The gilding of the Indian summer mellowed the pastures far and wide.
The russet woods stood ripe to be stripped, but were yet full of leaf.
The purple of heath-bloom, faded but not withered, tinged the hills...
Fieldhead gardens bore the seal of gentle decay; ... its time of
flowers and even of fruit was over."

Ahhhh, it was like mini-vacation in here today. I enjoy a glass of wine while I am drinking it, but it never fails to give me the most pounding headache so I don't drink wine at all anymore. I am not opposed to drinking vodka. ;D
Are you going to collect your cute wine bottles?
I'd never have thought that Lord Byron was so terribly interesting...perhaps I need to investigate.
I love WHITE wines. My usual is Chardonnay. (Less expensive for every day drinking.) My favorite is a good Reisling or Pinot Grigio. Reds give me a headache. LD drinks white zinfandel or chillable red...both box wines. He says "It was a very good HOUR!"
Your pics are so pretty!!
Oh, how this makes me long for New York...all of it. I know that I visited a NY winery many, many years ago while we were traveling to the Catskills from the Bronx on the NYS Thruway. I'm not sure what the name was it was so long ago. I love all your poetry .... it's a joy to read and say aloud. Where in NY is this???
Peace, Happiness, Abundance and Health to ALL !
Hi Auntie!
I love your pictures! I don't drink, but I still love the look of winery's and fun wine bottles!
I can hardly wait for that killing frost either . . .dreaded allergies!
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Hugs,
Barb
Great pictures. Top is my favorite!
I can't drink wine. Twice i've had allergic reactions to it and afraid to try it again.
I stick with beer! : )
It is interesting that more and more people are having problems with drinking wine. (Or, I'm just paying more attention.) So sorry other allergies are plaguing you and your family. The winery looks so interesting.
I love visiting wineries even though I'm not a big drinker! lol If I do have a glass of wine, I prefer white to red. Just last year I tasted Ice Wine for the first time, it's very sweet and I really liked it. It's a lot more expensive, though, because of the long process to make it. The grapes have to freeze 3 days in a row on the vines before being picked. Have you ever tasted ice wine?
Those wine bottle names are a hoot! I'd buy them just for the names! lol Enjoy:-) xoxo
