Sunday being lovely, we took a short ride over to walk the paths in the "Victory Woods". Where the British were roundly defeated, in the Revolutionary War. I grew up just below and south of this high, wooded area, and knew History. But never knew all the history which happened, right by me. :-)

This sign claims that scavengers have gone through the area and picked up artifacts, left from this British occupation... Since the gov. found none, when making this walk/signs. Since a lot of time has passed, since the Revolutionary War, I'm sure people did pick up what was lying on the ground. :::::::::: But! When a real archeological dig is done, land is systematically dug up and sifted through. This could not have been done, if the woods was to be preserved. :::::::::: So betcha' there's a lot of stuff, under the ground! But who wants to destroy this lovey, lovely wooded area?!?

It's a beautiful walk, but my hip hurt (like hell) and any time I stopped moving (like to read the info posted along the way), the biting bugs attacked me. Lovely walk and day. Not so much fun for me, though. Ugh... What is with this hip-hurt? I'm used to lots of come-and-go arthritic type pains. But hips are new.

All you who are intimately familiar with such pains, stop chuckling at me. -grin- All these age-pains are a *SURPRISE*, the first time they come along. Yes? ,-)

But being so *Brilliant,* I (finally) tried gentle stretching, first thing in the morning. It helps. It doesn't eliminate pain, but makes movement easier-as-it-were. (Who'd-a-thunk, hu? LOL. Only been reading this, for years. Ahh well, I'm a slow learner.)

That is a beautiful place for walking!
That is the most perfect rose I believe I've ever seen. It is gorgeous.
The woods walk sounds so interesting. Sorry your hips hurt.
So comments are back on :-). I know. I should have realized it when it happened but I have not been that immersed in blog world lately. Glad that you are back fully.
Hi Auntie!
Beautiful pictures! I've always thought it would be so interesting to live in the east, where so much of our history started, what a fun day you had! So sorry about the hip pain though... :0( My sister just had her second hip replacement today! She's not even 60 yet! So . . . please keep an eye on it . . . :0)
I love the picture of the rose - especially with the spider web weaving it's way in and out of the branches - very Halloweenie! And, it is a very beautiful rose!
I'm so glad you liked the picture of my husband and our sweet Clara! I have a picture almost exactly like it of all of our little girls grand "fairies", touching grandpa's face! I will frame them and put them on the wall, and I promise I'll post a picture of them . . . and grandpa's excitement when he sees them!!
Hugs,
Barb
Victory Woods - a beautiful place! So the biting bugs like you, too! They seem to love me. Guess you and I are just so sweet we attract them!
Sorry about your hip. One of mine has decided that it doesn't like to sit cross-legged on the floor anymore. It's having an office job and sitting all day behind a computer. Also has ruined my eyesight.
How's the weather up there? Y'all having any cold stuff yet? Smile, Pixie!
I have noticed the biting bugs. The days have been lovely, but they include the stinking bugs rising up for their last hurrah.
My hips hurt from time to time so I understand the pain. I'd certainly ask the doctor next time you're there. And, yes, stretching works for sciatica and hips and just about everything. That and Tylenol arthritis. I don't know what I'd do without that stuff.
Oh, I forgot to say how lovely these woods are and how neat to know the history that took place there.
I LOVE the Hal Borland quote....and YES!! Stretching does help!! I do yoga and walk. Back in my younger days I did the aerobics, stepping and such. Now a little walk, a little yoga, a little stretch......that's what it's all about. For ME anyway!
I say GOOD for YOU!!
Lovely pics on a lovely post!
