♥Muuuuuuuud Season coming...!!! ,-)

♥    ♥   ♥

Is it getting to that-time-of-year again????  -chuckle-

Spring Tonic Time!!!

I'm about the oldest blogger in Pretty Blog Land, and even I don't remember Spring Tonic.  But then again, lots of those old remedies had liquor in them.  (Perk you up, ya' know...)  So I don't suppose that kind, would have been given to me, as a child.

But I really don't have any recollection of Spring Tonic, at all.  Do any of my Dear Readers?  Rather, do any of my Dear Readers remember hearing-tell of it?  From older members of the family, perhaps?  :-)

And guess what Season is coming???  "MUD SEASON"  ,-)  'Yankee' magazine has some suggestions for coping with it.

A. Feign indifference.  If the mud senses you're afraid, you're doomed.

B.  Dress in the style known as "dairy-farmer chic."

C. Don't take any dirt roads you've never been down before.

D. Grow older quickly.  Mud and children have a natural attraction to each other.  As you get older,
mud is much less attracted to you.  Why the mud is bored by adults and enjoys the company of
     children isn't clear.

"Uncle A." admits to never seeing a puddle (in his childhood) into which he did not want to wade.  Ya' know......  A kid steps in, at the edge...  Then he goes farther and farther...  How far can he go, before the water ceases to be at the rim of his boots...?  And finally flows INTO his boots...?  -grin-

in ones and twos,

Tracking kitchen floors

Who's the cuprit?
We accuse

March, the month

we don't have mud in Florida and would welcome some rain since we are still in drought. but even when it rains our sand does not make mud, so if you want to skip mud season come to florida. we do have sand and sandspurs that hurt when we step on them. i to waded in every mud puddle as a child, we did have mud in GA. i loved making mud pies and baking them in the sun. no spring tonic in my memories

With my new steamer, I'm prepared! John brings home the most mud of anyone I know.

I don't recall spring tonic myself, but I've heard the older generation discuss Cod Liver Oil to include John.

I'm with Vee ... I remember my Grandmother talking about Cod Liver Oil for my mom and her sisters. Maybe it is a regional thing? Washington is pretty much mud season all winter and into the spring, so nothing dedicated about it here. Muck boots, wood chips in the goat pen, and cars that don't get washed very often because they'll just be dirty again (when you live on a dirt road).:)

Well, I had to laugh...we just got home from a bike ride and we went off the beaten path and guess what we encountered? Yep, MUD!!! and it splashed us on the back side, got our bikes all muddy but got home and declared; 'That was fun!' and indeed it was!
Thanks Auntie for visiting...

Nope, I don't ever recall hearing of Spring Tonic. I'll have to ask my mom if she ever heard of it. I found this online..."The most common ingredient was spicewood twigs, to this might be added Boneset leaves, dried in the fall or fresh violet leaves. (Violet leaves are now known to contain a high vitamin C content.) The tonics were usually bitter, foul tasting concoctions that would, "Make your blood rise like the sap in a tree." The more compassionate mothers laced it with honey, though the general feeling was if it tasted good, it wasn't doing you any good."

I loved reading how to avoid mud season! hehe Isn't it funny how children just cannot resist jumping into a puddle:-) We have so much snow, mud season won't be around for a long while yet in my corner of the world!!

Enjoyable post, dear Auntie:-) xoxo

I love your pictures (all kinds). Spring tonic - not a clue. I will stick with the Forsythe Chronicles.

I am not now - nor have I EVER been - fond of MUD! Even as a child I liked to be CLEAN!

It's fun to think about mud. Even though I don't like getting stuck in it, I prefer having it in life to cement.
