What is it???
♥
Last summer, we watched this being built.... In the side yard of one of the big houses, on North Broadway....
♥
♥
See the big house, to the left of this pic? And see the "what-ever-it-is", to the right of this pic, under tree branches? This is all the same property.
♥
♥
First, I said a Folly! Well, some kind of a Folly. It actually resembles a castle fortification. But for what purpose, was it built? ♥ I know, a Folly doesn't have to have a purpose. But I always thought of them as being more picturesque. To me, this is hardly picturesque. But then, I'm not the one who had it built.
♥
Yup, only one way to find out. Come Summer, when the owners are in residence, I need to make my way to the front door, and ask.
♥
Another funny thing is, I have toured that very home, years ago. My then BFF was in Real Estate and she was nutty like me, and she made-believe I was a buyer... And we toured the ding-dang big place, by ourselves. :-)
♥
Those were fun days. Friendship with Sally provided me with lots of memories. ,-) She's the only one I ever came across, who could bring out my as-yet-latent fun/nutty/wild ways. ,-) Wonder what would have transpired, if she had lived, and if we had gotten together, after I had my "Become Whom I Really Am" transition, in my 60's? Mmmm, it's probably a good thing, that never happened. Back then, I was a little brake on her. Now... No brakes on either of us. Yikes!!!!! -grin-

Well, I watched the pre-Oscars Red Carpet and was very *UNDERWHELMED*. Bring back Joan and Mellisa Rivers, if they want an interesting live Red Carpet show! Borrrrring... Bleahhhh... Well, just the visuals were. I did not turn the sound up, except to listen to Sandra Bullock's interview.
♥
Looked at some photos of "Best-Worst Dressed," this morning. Checked to see if...

Rob and Kristen were in attendance.
They were not. They just attended some pre-Oscar parties.

How very refreshing! They are one of the hottest Hollywood Couples now. And they do not, not, not flaunt themselves, at the Oscars, etc. Wow! How refreshing is that? How unheard of, is that?
♥
But to me, it's quite nice. :-)

I know! I know! I should ask about last night's episode of "DA"! Because lots of Dear Readers follow that. I'm sure it was thrilling, per usual.

Yes, I have watched such, in my day. Does anyone remember
"The Forsyte Saga"?????? The original one!
I quote: "In early 1967 the BBC aired a 26-episode costume drama called The Forsyte Saga. On Sunday nights, when the Saga was on, social life stopped. Dinner parties were scheduled around it, and vespers at some churches was moved to allow churchgoers to watch. When the show was aired in the US on PBS, it was just as much of a success. The public's appetite for more costume drama inspired Masterpiece Theater. It was nothing more than high-class soap, but it was well-acted high-class soap."
♥
So see? You who have been enjoying Masterpiece Theater, for years --- It was my (and lots of others) watching of The Forsyte Saga, way back in the '60's'... Which produced Masterpiece Theater. :-)
♥
You may leave your impressed thanks, in comments.

enwrapping with its grape-bloom colour and its scents
the billion caprices, intrigues, passions, longings,
and regrets of men and women."

Auntie, Downton Abbey's final show was last week. They did show a repeat last night. So all Downton Abbey fans are experiencing withdrawal in a big way.
Your friend sounds like a fun kind of gal. Did you like the house? Could you have lived there? Whatever is on their lawn is extremely unattractive. I can't even imagine why they'd want it there. Looks like the rich man's version of a fort for pitching snowballs. Ha!
I am wondering if the 'Folly' is some sort of wall for an outdoor patio - maybe with an outdoor kitchen?
don't know who rob and kristen are. i watched five minutes of the red carpet, it was Robin from GMA talking to Meryl Streep, enjoyed that five minutes. saw about 30 minutes on Good Morning America today of pics of dresses, J LO was not covered as usual.
about that thing in the first photo, folly is a good work so maybe Fort Folly and they have a small boy who liked to pretend to be a knight? OR maybe a church that is not done yet?
Hi Auntie - no I don't know what that ugly thing is, but I do know that if there were some kids that lived in that house, they would have LOVED to use that pile of stones for forts or whatever! I know my boys would have. They could fire imaginary shots through the holes...actually, my girl would have joined in and been mad if her brothers wouldn't have let her!
I did not watch DA. I missed the first few episodes and then also, I hate to get attached to a TV program that I feel like I have to schedule my life around to keep up. Hate that feeling. Give me a 2 hr movie anytime and I'm good with that.
Now, on to your wild streak. I had a sneaky feeling that Uncle A should probably keep a short leash on you. hahahaha! ;) ;) ;)
Now you've got me curious as to what they're building! lol It certainly does look like a castle wall or something like that. Hurry up and find out! hehe They sure do have a gorgeous house, wow.
Isn't it funny how a certain friend can bring out the "wild" in us:-) I am actually very shy and conservative but when I'm with Steve, I do things I never thought I would! lol I'll go up to strangers and talk to them, I'll try different things, etc...I'm like another person when I'm with him, I guess I feel free to express myself and he won't judge me:-)
I watched the Red Carpet event as well and now know why I hadn't watched it for quite a few years! lol These people just have way too much money to spend. I can't help but think of the poor starving people when a celebrity talks about having a million dollars worth of jewels on.
I've never watched Masterpiece Theater or The Forsyte Saga. xoxo
I'm curious to find out what it is as well. I'll be pestering you when summer comes 'round.
Mary
I remember Forsythe Saga and yep, each week, I was watching.
I LOVE D/Abby!! Gotta Watch it!!Hahaa... I also love Masterpiece Theater...have for years. Don't remember Forsythe Saga though!

We will all be waiting for the summer residents to come so we can find out 'What were they THINKING?'
I love big OLD homes. New ones not so much. I have been in several showcase homes and they seem impersonal and cold with all the vaulted ceilings and such open spaces. I am a cottage girl at heart and an OLDER cottage is always better than a new one! (in my humble opinion!) I love to VISIT new homes but I wouldn't want to live there! That's what others say about MY house I am sure!
I never watch awards shows...learn enough off the net to satisfy my curiosity...hmmm wonder what your neighbors were thinking???
The sadness is....we have to wait for season three of Downton Abbey...it's over for now :( So glad we have Masterpiece Theater.
Thanks :)
blessings,
karianne
Haven't see DTA - not sure if I'd like it. Probably, but just not too into TV lately.
Love those cute kids from Twilight:)
Enjoy!
Leann
I definitely remember The Forsyte Saga - oh doesn't that age us? I'm usually at work when Downton Abbey is on but asked my GKB to record the Christmas series for me. He didn't! But he is forgiven.
I will be interested to see what the folly turns out to be.
Blessings
Diana
Oh that would have been so much fun going around looking at the big houses.
I still do walk in puddles!! : )
Like the other said, no more DA.
We watched The Old Curiosity Shop.
