I finally got some pics taken, so I can post them. ~~ How is that for a bar shot??? Look at all those supposedly old tankards!!! They 'fit' in "The Olde Bryan Inn" because it's really an old, old, old building. Been used for many things, over the years. For a long time now, it's been a bar and eating place.
See what I mean, about it being OLD? 1773 is nothing to *sneeze at.* :-)
The great thing about a 1773 building is..... The ambiance is REAL...! Really real!!! That's a real fire in that fireplace! Not changed over to gas and fake logs. The real thing. And you can smell the delicious smell of a real wood fire, around the building. Delightful!!!
And there is another fireplace, at the other end of the room. Old brick. Old stone walls Old wooden floors.
~~~
See the bench, to the right of the pic? It and lots more, where reused from a local church, which went modern. They fit so well, in this environment. And they didn't become trash. Win... Win....
This shot is looking up, to the next landing. There are 3 floors and the stairs to the 3rd floor, can be seen on the top-left of this picture. There is this sort of a center opening. And as I said, this is looking up, from the ground floor.
And this is looking down, from the second floor landing. I'm leaning over the railing, which is to the right of the light fixture in this pic. I'm looking down on the lighting fixture, which I'm looking UP at, in the pic above. I went up to the second floor, because the older Ladies Room is up there.
~~~
And the best part about it is....
~~~
A lady ghost has been seen up there, in that area.
~~~
So I like to use that upstairs bathroom (rather than the newer one, on the first floor in an addition) because I would love to see "The Lady In Green."
~~~
But sad to say, I've not yet seen her.......... But I haven't given up either. :-))))
what a lovely old place!!
Love this...VERY MUCH. Love the fact that you used your OWN images to make a blog post. And such an enjoyable, wonderful treat for all of us who visit and get to view your 'neighborhood' culture. Fabulous "Auntie"!!!!
i love old buildings and would like to visit this and to meet that ghost woman. did you find the background to match the cup or the cup to match the background. COOL
What a fantastic place!! This is a place I would love to visit.
Now this is the type of place I love visiting!! I love it when it's old like that and they've kept everything as it used to be instead of modernizing it. Now I'm wishing I lived nearer so that I could go for myself and see if the Lady in Green appears:-) Beautiful and haunted...can't get any better than that! hehe xoxo
What a neat old building!! Liked looking at all the pictures.
Wonderful description of that old inn. I'd love dining there near the fire. I always hope that I'll be able to sit near the fire at Starbucks, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm so desperate for the warmth of a fire sometimes that I think even a fake fireplace would be great. Even a fake fireplace on the tv would be great!
LOTS of ambience in that old place. I love it! And I would go upstairs, too, to the restroom. Next time you go, you should wear green and slink around upstairs...
;) Wouldn't that be a hoot!
I do love all those tankards on the ceiling and yes, they would look out of place in any other locale. Wouldn't a beverage taste nice and frosty cold in one of those tankards!
What a very cool place! There is a 'Lady in Blue' in a restaurant on the CA coast called the Distillery. It was one of the Goatmother's favorite places when they lived there. She never saw the ghost either, but she did hear a lady's footsteps in the ladies room and there was no one else in there besides her.
Cool - I'd love to see her too! I'm watching the Secret Circle while I blog. Do you watch it? I can't remember.
Have a great weekend!
Your post reminded me of a pub we visited in Scotland. Everything there seems OLD...except Inverness. It had been distroyed and rebuilt and lost most of the really old and historical places.
I would LOVE to cozy up to that fireplace and spend some time!
Great post!! Happy Weekend!!
what a cool place...nice and cozy...
