~*~Finally, a bit-of-the-Irish... And Sat. stuff...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Since it is March...  And since St. Patrick's Day is a big holiday, in March...  I suppose I'd better have an-all-wearin'-of-the-Green post, pretty soon.  So, I do one today.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I did know that my maternal ancestors came from Ireland and Scotland.  But only recently learned that my maternal grandfather was actually born in Ireland.
~*~*~*~
Which would go along with the very old sampler, (made in Churchtown Ireland, so it says) which we have in the family.  Large and intricate and was probably very beautiful, at one time.  But along the way, my Great Aunt Josie decided to wash it.  Eeeeeeek!  You don't wash things like that.  Suppose the colors faded, and that's why it's not very pretty today.  But it's still part of my heritage.
~*~*~*~
Our Daughter, who wore her Great, Great Aunt Josie's wedding gown to be married in, will inherit the sampler.

 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Spring continues to elude us, in my neck of the woods.  Roofs and the ground are still snow covered.  Standing water is still frozen, this morning.  But I am not going to complain about this!
~*~*~*~
Not with all the sorrow, which wild weather is bringing to others, in our Dear Country.  -sigh-

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Saturday morning, we went out to do errands.  Not all were able to be completed, so we will have to go out on errands, again today.
~*~*~*~
On Sat., "Uncle A" worked the Rotary Home Show from mid afternoon till closing (7pm).  So we went to late lunch, downstreet, mid afternoon.  Then I dropped him off at the City Center, where the Home Show is held.  And he got a ride home with daughter and son-in-law.  Who have a booth this year, for their 3rd business.  :-)
~*~*~*~
After dropping him off, I finally got around to making some *goodies* for us.  For "Uncle A." I made a Coffee Cake.  For myself, I used a Gluten/Free cookie mix, and made it into bar-form, instead of cookie-form.  It's so much easier to make, this way.  Cookies take so long...  What with checking for doneness, and having to put trays and trays of them, in the oven.  I like bars!  'Cause I'm lazy!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
One of Saturday's errands, was to go to the library.  Had to make returns and pick up's too.  One fiction book, for each of us.  And a non-fiction one for me.
~*~*~*~
I even had to make an over-due payment!!!!  Ekkkkkkkk!  Rarely does that happen to me, any more.  (Yes, it used to be a regular occurrence but I have mended-my-ways.  -grin-)   With being able to check my library site, on line, there is no, no, no excuse for this to happen.  But!  I managed to just keep checking for my Requests.  Forgetting to check on what I had Out.  -sigh-
~*~*~*~
It's doubly silly, because you can even renew things, on line.  Oh well, just goes to prove.

I'm not PERFECT yet!!!  LOLLLLL!

Nor do I want to become PERFECT.

'Cause then I'd BE DONE.

And I don't want to BE DONE, yet!!!

:-)))))

Are YOU PERFECT yet???????????????  -giggles-

Are you thus, DONE yet????????

You know, I hate baking cookies too. But you are not lazy, you just know how to get from point A to point B, in a straight line, instead of a lot of steps. I got a job once by using that line, that I'm lazy!!! Go figure. Told them it was my best quality.

Hi Auntie!

I'm far, far, from perfect! And, I think I owe the library too... ;0) I am on the second book of, Hunger Games by the way -- you really should read the series, they are really good!

One of my grandsons, Caleb, is born on St. Patrick's Day, so we celebrate big for that one!!

Bars instead of cookies works for me too, much easier!

Have a great Sunday!

Hugs,
Barb

I love Irish music....all things Irish actually. We spent a month in Aberdeen Scotland and loaded up on Irish and Scottish music CD's.

And I LOVE the hear the Irish - AND Scottish brogue.

So - in Irish style -

Thank you Auntie for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment to cheer me up. You and I are of a similar age and my maiden name was Maloney. How Irish is that? LOL

I am following your blog now and I would be very pleased if you would like to follow mine.

You most definitely got me in agreement on the cookies vs. bars. Yep, yep....they're so much easier, and you don't have to wait but one time for them to bake and be done....unlike cookies where you bake one or two cookie sheets full....then have to do it over and over. Yep. Yep!!!!

Now, may I ask: "Got Milk"?!!!

A very cheery post for sure! :)

I always decorate for all of the little holidays in between the big ones and my St. Patrick's day decorations went up the week after Valentine's Day because I like to have the decorations up for the month prior to the holiday and then they come down the day after, and I put up the next holiday's decor. It keeps things cheery in the middle of winter, especially. Even though we have spring flowers, we have a dusting of snow overnight and cold temperatures today. But as is typical for Illinois - it's supposed to be in the 60s by Wednesday. The normal ups and downs of the change of season.

I like that you follow traditions in your family heritage.

We only have a tad bit of Irish perhaps on my Mom's side of the family, but that's going back to the old country, hundreds of years ago because her family has been fully entrenched on U.S. soil since then with the earliest pioneers.

My husband of course is Irish/Scottish/English.

I'm predominantly Polish/German.

Hope you have a good week.

I'm sure I'll be heading for the library any day now. I don't have any books out but I am reading some of my own books, trying to get those few shelves clear of them.
It is so hard for me to stay away from the library.

I'm far from perfect so not done at all either! lol Love it that you have the family sampler and faded or not, what a heirloom to pass on:-) I have Irish and Scottish blood in me too!!

Having just gone through a couple major snowstorms and downright frigid temperatures, Spring doesn't seem to be "right around the corner" over here. Saying that, they're now saying that by tomorrow we'll have above normal temps and rain! Can you say lots of flooding will be going on? My heart goes out to all those affected by the tornadoes in the States.

Your St Patrick's Day images are so darn cute:-) xoxo
