♥ MELT DOWN...

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Had a bit of a meltdown last night...  Concerning all the things which I can not eat.

When I avoided a massive heart attack (a few years ago), by being stented, I stopped eating most all but heart-healthy foods.  Then I proved to be Lactose Intolerant, and all forms of milk, cream, cheese, ice cream went.   Then came the Gluten Intolerance, and ALL products containing gluten, became off limits.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Heart Healthy in itself, prohibits all fried foods, most all desserts, chocolate, butter, cream, etc.

The Lactose Intolerance eliminates all other milk products.

The Gluten Intolerance eliminates allllllllll forms of bread, pizza dough, desserts...

Think about it, if it's made with flour, I can't eat it.  Lots and lots of stuff, hu?  And yes they have Gluten/Free products.  But NONE of them, are LIKE the real thing.  :-(

You know the worst part????????  I am still 30 pounds overweight!  -sigh-

-stamping foot-  Not fair!  Not fair!  If I can't eat all the delicious stuff which everyone else can,
I should at least be a "fine-for-me-at-this-age" weight.   -stomping foot again-  Not fair!
LOL!!!!!!

YES I KNOW!!!!!!  Compared to the lives of lots of people, these things are nothing.  And most of the time, I flow along.  But something triggered me, and off I went.  Ballistic "Auntie"...  Not pretty.

NOT pretty....

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,’ said Piglet at last, ‘what’s the first thing you say to yourself?’ ‘What’s for breakfast?’ said Pooh. ‘What do you say, Piglet?’ ‘I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?’ said Piglet. Pooh nodded thoughtfully. ‘It’s the same thing,’ he said.”

Firstly, LOVE the Piglet/Pooh quote. That's so right by the way. LOL

And secondly, I too have heart problems AND weight problems. Thing is, I went on those nasty diets to avoid this, and avoid that --got fed up with it all [of course I have intolerance of anything except FAT CELLS] ---anyway, I just said 'p!ss on it' and started eating. I paid for it...gaining weight. Exercising helped a whole lot, and I learned to drink a full glass of cold ice water before a meal...that way, "I'm full" before I sit down to eat. That too helped. Butcha'know something...if you're like me, you're on heart meds...which puts on weight. That is one of the side effects listed on both my med labels.

Not fair...the terminology is "Dam-ed if you do and dam-ed if you don't."

By the way, with your comment you left for me today on my DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS blog post, you mentioned spelling and lack thereof --my hubby's the world's worst speller and his idea is "When in Doubt, add an E".

First of all dear Auntie, thank you so much for all the lovely comments you have been leaving for me over at my place! It is SO good to be back with you all again. What a delightful header photo and I love the quote by A A Milne. I can't imagine a "ballistic" Auntie. Hee Hee. You always seem so gentle!!! It is very sad when you can't eat the foods that you would really want to eat, and I do feel for you my friend. I try to be very good, but I do slip by the wayside sometimes I'm afraid! I hope that you're feeling more like your old self again by the time you read this! Gentle hugs...

I don't have a weight problem Auntie but I sure do have plenty of other health problems though so I can sympathize with you.

I hope today is a good one for you.

You'd hear such caterwauling to the north if this were my lot that you'd have to plug your ears. I don't blame you at all for venting every now and again. Have you spent time with a great nutritionist? One who can share lots of terrific tips? They're a font of information and sometimes folks don't know that they're entitled to have a full work-up done with a nutritionist.

So here I am...babying my back. I'm allowing myself 20 minutes online so off I scoot. (Yes, it is feeling better, but I'll not be back to posting for a couple more days.)

Oh so sorry, Auntie. Things I have to avoid, too - but it's hard, and I'm a bit overweight, too. I'm trying to avoid becoming diabetic, I had gestational diabetes so I'm at high risk. I understand a little bit of your angst.

But I would pay good money to see Auntie go.........................

BALLISTIC!

I pray you have a better day today and look for other exciting things than all the things that you can't have! I know it's very frustrating....

A meltdown every now and then is probably good for all of us.

Auntie, you have every right to get upset once in a while, I would be too from being so frustrated of not being able to eat most everything!! I can't even imagine a life without dairy, flour, sweets, etc. I was talking to my mom about that the other day and she said she doesn't ever remember anyone having those problems when she was growing up so what are they putting in our foods these days that so many people are allergic to it all? Makes you wonder, doesn't it!! I know I'm blessed in the fact that I'm not allergic to anything...YET! But, I know it can suddenly happen so I do somewhat watch what I eat and how much of it I eat!! Sending you big hugs. xoxo

P.S. I guess it didn't help that I posted about Doughnut Muffins! lol

I don't know how you do it, but, to be honest, I really have to start watching what I eat as well. I already suffer from IBS and usually keep it under control, but my stomach has become like a bottomless pit since I stopped smoking. Switched one addiction for another. I put on 60 pounds since July 4, 2000.

Oy. Auntie, we need to get you eating better. How about Peanuts? Just kidding. Have you tried lactose-free milk? Of course you have. Maybe it is like the Goatfather says. He has 3 stents and Diabetes. His attitude is that it comes down to quality of life. So he is careful, but now and then he eats chocolate, fried things, sugary things. He just doesn't do it all the time. Maybe you should reward yourself at intervals so you don't feel so deprived. Something decadent but tolerable (in the payback area). What do you think? Maybe a little *sinning* now and then?

Look into a Lo-Carb diet for awhile...I think it'll help...

You are entitled to vent every now and then. It must be hard to have to cut so much food out of your diet.
I know I am so lucky to be healthy and am able to eat any food without it bothering me.
Though I do limit my calories and walk to stay thin.

I'm prayin' that you'll find some miracle delicious recipes that'll tantalize your taste-buds and tickle your tummy sweetie!

Well of course, you have to let off a little steam once in a while. You have been an inspiration to me to stick to a diet for healthy reasons. I'm sure in a day or two, you will be right back to dealing with your food restrictions. Good Luck.
