Wishing you a lovely Midsummer Night's Eve!!!

Wishing you a lovely Midsummer Night's Eve!!!

I doubt our fire, will be as big as these!!!  Better not be!!!
But next door son's family, does have a Fire Pit now.  Someone who couldn't use it, gave theirs to him.  So now we have the Tiki Torches.  And the Fire Pit.  :-)

Of course, I'm *scaring* everyone, by *threatening* to dance sky-clad, around the Fire Pit.   -giggggggles-

No dancing!  But we surely will have fire, to celebrate the return of the Sun.

Head garlands of flowers, are pretty.  I did that years ago, one Midsummer Night's Eve.  When the Grands only numbered 4.  I made head wreaths of 'Queen Ann's Lace' for the 3 girls.  Youngest Grand then, was a little boy.  So he had to be the King.

They danced around the back yard, for us.  :-)  While I played the CD of the music, from the film "Midsummer Night's Dream."  :-)

It would be lovely if the Fireflies came out, tonight.  Kind of don't think it's really warm enough, for them though.  Fireflies look so like Faeries!!!

I love to notice the turning of "The Wheel Of The Year".  I love to pay attention to the changing Seasons.  Really pay attention.  Even if, in modern times, we don't really have to.  We now have light, heat, cooling, 24/7.  And it's easy to forget the Rhythms of Nature.

But I think that when we forget, we diminish our lives.  We lose the connections, to the natural Cycles of Nature.  And we lose Magic, and Fun, and Joy...

Again, wishing you a lovely Midsummer Night's Eve!!!

"THOSE" books, again....................

Oh lookie!!!  "The Omnivore's Dilemma"   Can you hear 'Uncle A's' sighing and moaning and groaning?????  ,-)  Fearful of what I WON'T_ EAT_ NOW!  There goes beef, from 'animal factory farming'.  And all her veggies/fruits will have to be the expensive Organic kind.  And...  And...  And...

See, he went through this before!  When one of our sons was in hospital, with Salmonella Poisoning, I really got to reading all sorts of books, which exposed THE  FOOD  WE  EAT.  And would not, not, not eat meat.

Have you ever read a book, on  how your steak, chicken, etc., are RAISED????????   And are KILLED??????   Hmmmm...?  Hmmmm...?  Hmmmm.......?

I won't read this cover-to-cover.  But it will get me "thinking" again.........

Just for the H*ll of it, ,-)  I'm showing a larger version of the picture I'm using, for my Icon now.  I take a bunch of pics, into the downstairs bathroom/laundry room mirror.  And try to get a self pic, which isn't tooooooo badddddddd.  lol.  We all know, how we don't have an easy time, with finding a self pic, we like, I think.

So there you have it.  The frame of the mirror, and the red wall, not reflected.  Me.  Reflected in the mirror.  Camera and hand, also reflected.  And stacked dryer and laundry cabinet, reflected.

Don't say it!!!!  -chuckle-  Don't say this is a lame excuse for a post.  -grin-  I know it.  But I have some info., in tomorrow's post!!!!!!!!!!  REALLY!  Really I will.  :-)

Ugh...Eeeeek...Books, books, books... :-)))

Ugh...

Look what's coming again...

Soon...

March 10th...

But since the *real* time change, is during our sleeping hours, we have to remember to set the clocks back, on 3/09 Saturday night.  -sigh-   Here we go again!!!

Oh I know, that some people are very happy with Spring-time DST.  But I'm not happy, with any messing with Nature's Time.  I am a creature of this Universe.  I wish to live, in harmony with the rhythms of this planet Earth.  I wish to live by the movement of the sun and the moon.  If I "had-my-druthers", I'd cover every clock, and pay no attention to them.

But in this modern world, of keeping appointments and etc....  We can't just live on Nature's  Time...  Unless we are totally off the grid...

But!  For all the days/nights we don't have appointments on the calendar, I can do just that!  Live on Nature's Time!!!  "Auntie" sezzzzzz...   ,-)

Are you Dear Reader, noticing lots of Blogger Error Messages?  Here and there and here and there?  Mmmmmm...  Should we  be worried?!?  What is going on with Blogger?  To cause these *scary* messages to keep popping up?!?

Finished "The Fifth Assassin" by Brad Meltzer.  Fascinating.
Read more by clicking this link...  To go to "Auntie's Reads 2013."

Also finished another book this weekend, but I'll wait, to put that review, on "Auntie's Reads 2013."

So far in 2013, I've read 18 books.

That's 18 books in 10 weeks, if I calculate correctly.

Kind of goes to show, the lack of compelling-things-on-tv, doesn't it?  ,-)

WaRnInG!! "Danger, Will Robinson!" ,-)

Yes, I'm playing again, with my camera, and with sunlight and shadows.  :-)

Full Wolf Moon is this Saturday!  Now I love Full Moons.  And I especially love the Full Wolf Moon, because I'm fascinated with wolves.  But.......

Already, this Full Moon is having not-so-good-Full-Moon-Effects here.  -sigh-  -moan-   Twice, I have scared-myself-silly, by making changes, on my computer.  It was as if a little "Imp" was sitting on my shoulder...  Whispering into my ear;  "Go ahead!  Make that click!  It will be ok!"   And whispering; "Wow, those Delete History/Cache Settings look funny.  Better change them."

The first one turned out to be ok, after all.  But I still spent a night, kinda' worrying about it.  'Till my Personal Computer Geek could "talk me down off the ceiling," about it.   -sigh-
But the second "Little Imp" prompting,  is not all-ok yet!!!!!!  At this moment, I still have to wait till later, when my Personal Computer Geek will be home from work, and able to advise me (via the Net), on WHICH "Delete History/Cache" Settings I SHOULD have on.  -sigh-

OH and!  Another possible Full Wolf Moon Effect!!!!  In this week of very cold temps, my outdoor part of my temperature thingy, quit.  And even "Uncle A." who can fix most anything, can't fix this.  So, just when I really enjoy checking the Low Temps Outside....  The ding-dang-thing quits!  Doesn't that sound like another icky Full Wolf Moon Effect?!?!?!
 The only good thing is...  If the old Wive's Tale of "Things Coming In 3's" holds...  I have already had, my 3 icky Full Wolf Moon Effects.

BE WARNED!!!  Don't tell me I didn't warn you!  Be on the watch for possible Icky Full Wolf Moon Effects!!!
My Duty here, as been done!!!!!!!!!

'Twelfth Night' day...

I hope that you had a lovely

It was a sunny day, in my neck of the woods.  It got warmer, and the icicles are gone. Which is a bit sad...

We got out to the library, and did grocery shopping.  But then, when we get home, the chore of putting everything away, stares us in the face.  Ugh...  This above, is not EVERYTHING, of course.  And since these things are in cans, etc., they can go right into the pantry.  But items in boxes/bags will have to be put into secure containers or plastic boxes.  I so do not love this put-away-chore.

But be glad we can go and buy food!  I know!

See the little red Crock Pot, in the background?  Even before we went out, "Uncle A." assembled the chicken thighs in cream of mushroom soup, with no lactose milk.  And it cooks all day.  For dinner, he just has to do some rice and a green veggie.  LOVE Crock Pot meals!!!

Noticed the sun making pretty sparkles and shadows, on the snow.  But didn't get my camera quickly enough.  -sigh-  By the time I got it, the sun had gone down behind the trees/houses, which keep us from seeing sunset.

But I took a couple of pics, anyway...

While the afternoon sun was still streaming in, through a kitchen window, I got a couple of light and shadow pics.  Another example of "Because I Could" pics.  :-)

Gracious but that does NOT look like the color of my kitchen walls!!!!  Yikes!!!  With the sun, it looks positively *upchuck* color!  EEEEEEEEEKKKK!  LOL.

But the kitchen wreath, on the door to the front hall, looks very pretty!!!  Happily!

Though the sun had left the back yard, it was still visible.  So I tried to get a photo of the sun shining directly at me, with the patio door open...  It's not quite as good a capture of sun/at/camera, as sometimes.  But it was worth taking, for the clouds in the sky, even.  :-)

Decoration... A bit of over-kill, perhaps???

The other day I posted photos of tasteful (in my humble opinion) outdoor Christmas Decorations.  Today I go to the other extreme.    Well, to me, anyway...   ,-)    These masses of blow-up decorations are kind of tacky, but they are celebrating Christmas so, I guess we need to concentrate on that.  ,-)

The best "panoramic" view, I could get...  Of their front yard and house...  Complete with spot lights!

Here is a close-up of the Christmas Count-Down Clock...

To the left of this pic, there is even a football player.  Christmas-y???  ,-)

A close-up of the right side of the lawn.  I always love Winnie The Pooh...

No snow..."I can't believe I did that"...Memories

And we are the dreamers of dreams."

I was signing my comments with;  "Auntie", From The Land That Winter Forgot"...  Well, looking at that ice, I guess I can't say that anymore.  So perhaps I'll switch my sign-off, to ;  "Auntie," From The Land That Snow Forgot"...  -sigh-

I was born many years ago, in The Land Which Had 4 Real Seasons.  But I know.  All earth's weather changes, and has cycles, etc.  But I am really "getting my panties in a knot," with this no-snow-business.  We saw a "local preview of winter" piece on tv, and they said it would be more normal a Winter, than our last one.  (NO SNOW, that one was!)  And I am still, still, still, still, still waiting for the Normal-With-Snow Part.

We finally got our Angel on top of our little tree.  And found the tree skirt.  Plus having the Little Train installed around the tree table...  So it's looking like a "real" Christmas Time, INSIDE anyway.  :-)  ~~~~~~~~~  As to the lack-of-snow-part, I suppose I could go into my past blog entries, and find some jolly snow ones!  Perhaps that would make me feel a little *better.*  ,-)

At the library, "Uncle A." parked while I went in to return/pick up.  Came out and proceeded right to the car you see in my pic....  Opened the door and saw a RED  COAT.  ??????   The lady in the Red Coat said;  "I think you want to get into the car, next to this one."  OMGOSH!  Luckily, she was an 'Olden Lady' too, so we got a big laugh out of it, but......   Stillllllll....   Good Grief!!!!   ,-)
~~~~~~~~
But, her car was red, and a Honda too.   That's my story and I'm sticking with it.  -grin-
This is a very old Elf, and rather the-worse-for-wear.  But we always hang him up.  We got him, when our Daughter was 2 months old, at her first Christmas (53 years ago).  We hung him on the same light fixture.  She would sit in one of those reclining seats for very small babies (on the table),  and she would *look* at him.  He was probably just a RED  BLOB to a 2 month old, but it's become a tradition.
~~~~~~~~~
 We were in our first little house then, but the same beautiful red light fixture moved with us, when we built this one.  :-)
~~~~~~~~
Mmmm, I've probably told this following story before, but I do have new Readers so....   :-))))  When we were ready to move into this house...  The builder said;  "We'll take the lamp down, but you (us)  drive it across town, to the new house.  And we'll put it up there.  But WE are NOT going to be responsible for transporting it, across town!"  -grin-  So, we did!
~~~~~~~~
 John loved Red, and he wasn't going to break that lamp!!!  :-)  Rest in peace, John...  -sigh-

And this is just a STOP we had to make for a couple of minutes, on our way to another errand.  Certainly a "Just Because I Can" pic!  Guess I'm getting desperate for Photo Ops, hu?!?!?!?
