And such a cute author, Eowyn Ivey...
♥
Do you check out the back fly leaf, to see the author? Before or after reading a book? I guess I tend to wait till after finishing a book. :-)
Plain/simple? Or kind of cluttered-with-"pretty"? Which is your style, Dear Reader?
♥
I think we can *see* our own style, when looking at our own blog.
♥
Look at my blog... At most any time... And it's got "lots-of-pretty" showing on it. ,-)
♥
And then, there are the very, very, very plain blog looks.
♥
And the kind-of-in-between blog looks.
♥
Don't you love it, that how we make our own blog LOOK, is totally our choice? A place to kind-of wave our own preferences flag.
♥
Does your blog-look-preference, influence which blogs you enjoy reading/looking at? If your own style is "simple" and monochromatic, do you tend to go to other blogs, which give off the same vibe? Or not? Or doesn't the "look of the blog" influence you at all?

Getting very irritated... My weight seems to stay the same, no matter what I do. Meaning, when I try to watch the amount I eat... And when I don't try to watch the amount I eat... It stays about the same. NOT FAIR! -pout- LOL. As if anything in life, is fair. -chuckle-
♥
Anyway, I know that the number of times one has tried to adjust one's weight... Each time one does, it only gets harder. And after all, I'm 'Olden.' ,-) Never had any problem, till I had my last child and was about 30. But I've done a lot of *adjusting,* since then. -sigh-
♥
No I don't have any illusion of getting my pre-turning-30 figure back. LOL! Nope! All I want is to remove some of the excess gut. Simple. So simple. LOL. Yeah, as if that was simple.
♥
Oh the things we bother our heads about... But this is health. Gut fat is badddd fat. This isn't just a form of *Olden* vanity. It's for health too.

A fun read... The beginning of a series... Set in England in 1905... I wasn't totally *grabbed* by it, but want to try the 2nd in the series. To see if it does *grab* me. ,-)

Do you Dear Reader, have a personal pet quest??? :-) One of those things which would make you feel wonderful, if you succeeded? But with which, you are having little luck?

but it’s another thing to be an individual
at the cost of the people around you.

i am the minimalist look, plain and simple. i like looking at pretty places like the library and will even say it is beautiful, but would not want want to live in it. i see much I love to look at, but would not want it. i don't follow blogs because of the look of the blog, but because of the content or people. i tend to follow photographers more than others, and i don't cook, but i do follow one kiblog about cooking because i like her. i don't have a pet quest right now.
Of the two examples you showed, I prefer the one with a little more stuffing. Minimalist would not describe me too well. However, there are times when I reach the tipping point, as I have this week, and I am aiming for happy ground...a bit simpler. No, I visit blogs of all styles from elegant to farmhouse and everything in between. I'm interested in it all. And, yes, it is wonderful that we get to express ourselves.
Now somehow I thought I'd find snow photos here. Hope that you didn't get hit by that nasty freakish weather even if it is poor man's fertilizer.
Back to the grind I go...
I like my blog to reflect my tastes. I visit blogs because they are interesting, but mostly because I like the person.
My personal quest is to have one solid month without a doctor appointment. ;-)
Thank you for your kind thoughts.
Dear Auntie,
Rebecca Kent and Kate Kingsbury are one in the same! I love the Pennyfoot Hotel mysteries, but like you, didn't feel like the series above was as good. They are just 'okay.' :) Think her real name is Doreen Roberts but not sure if she has written anything under that name du plume. :)
I prefer the cheerful look. Bright and colorful is my thing.
Like you, I tend to be on a plateau with my weight. I watch my diet diligently, but never drop a pound. It can be frustrating to say the least.

I like to check out the author, cover and the dedications before reading a book. I call that getting the book ready to read.
In my house I like a bit of stuff around, to me it makes it seem cozy, warm and welcoming,
I like my blog on the simple side and like to just change layout and colors around.
Reading blogs I don't pay too much attention to all the designs, and I like easy to read blogs though if I like a blog nothing really keeps me from reading it. The thing I like least on blogs is music and always turn my sound off when reading them.
What would make me feel wonderful is that I could eat what ever I wanted and never gain a pound. I try to keep my weight at my ideal weight and do within a few pounds but it is hard and a struggle every day.
I'm a stuff person - but there is a place for everything and everything needs to eventually return to that place.
Love the library picture you showed. too bad my house isn't big enough for something like that,
I must say I don't follow a blog for it's looks - simple or glitzy I really could care less. I like what the owner of a blog talks about in the blog.
Hugs,
Penny
I tend to follow blogs with my same interests not really the looks of it...though I do enjoy all your changes...I never know what to expect when I open your blog..I used to change mine alot...now I'm more comfortable...think I've maybe found my niche in this blogging world...I'm more of a plain and simple person...but I do love pretty things...
As Chris tells me...convivial clutter is my decorating style but, with six dogs and 3 cats and living on a farm, perhaps that's to be expected -smile-.
Visiting from Susan Branch's blog and enjoying your blog.
It took me a long time to learn to love who I am and how I look yes I am a short fat middle aged woman but I am also a woman with a lot of love and good heart.......
I think my blog is neither pretty or plain it is somewhere in between and it is me........
I like many blogs...mostly for the blogger and what they write and their photos. It matters not how they've decorated it, but I do admire those that are very creative. I tend to not pay a lot of attention to mine and leave it the same for too long. Since Blogger changed things, I'm not sure how to do certain things that I'd like to do so I just don't do anything! Well, sometimes I change my background color, that is about the only thing I know how to do.
As for a personal quest, I'd love to be able to give up sugar. I need to because my blood sugar is too high for one thing, and I could stand to lose some pounds as well. But, it's soooo hard to do! I don't like sugar substitutes.
Interesting post!
