(Baby Cardinal, beside pool...)
Early in the morning, I saw 'something,' out my kitchen window... It turned out to be a fluffy, baby Cardinal. We kept an eye on it, and it hopped all around the edge of the pool. No Mama Bird in sight. Nothing we could do for it. Eventually, it had "disappeared." We hope it hopped into the greenery, around the pool, and that Mama Cardinal managed to get-it-home, where ever that may be.

A just-because-I-can-photo. ,-) We love the inside parking, at a newly redone downtown grocery store. Obviously, you enter/exit at that "blob-of-bright-sunlight." ,-) Park your car in well lit parking, enter the lovely new store, down there beyond the last gray vehicle. Returns (cans, etc.) go to the right.
It's super for summer, so your car does not get over heated, sitting in sun while you shop. Great in rain, and will be great when winter weather comes again.

(Just a pretty-play of shadows and light, in early morning...)
I'm still reading books by Mary Stewart... This present book ("This Rough Magic") was first published in 1964, so that was a whole-different-time. And one of the things I've noticed... The heroines never worry about eating!!!!! -chuckle-
That may not sound like much, but think about it... In books of today, the heroine is usually fretting about her weight and what she's eating. It can get in the way of the plot, almost... But we kind-of accept it. Like we kind-of accept that Hollywood actresses are SKINNY as MODELS.
But it's really quite lovely to read about gals who are perfectly happy in their own bodies. Their bodies are young bodies, of course. And once upon a time, having a young body was all you needed. Once upon a time, no one was preoccupied with calories, or with *burning them off* with working out, etc.
-happy sigh- It's quite lovely to return to a gentler time. :-)))))))))))

(Just a pretty gray row house...)
LOVE this row house!!! Love it's paint colors, pots of flowers at street level, etc. But... -Hehhhhhhhh- This is "Auntie" posting after all. You just KNEW there had to be a BUT, didn't you????? ,-)
But! Why didn't they keep with the color-scheme???? Why did they hang those pots of flaming RED flowers? Flaming RED, clashes with every thing else.
"Auntie" is not pleased.
And she can assure you, the home owners don't care a bit. -gigggggles-

(Make way........ For DUCKS...)
We are still stuck in an almost stationary weather system... But my barometer has finally started to rise. Granted, all the on-and-off rain has been needed. And very welcomed by flowers and veggies. But........ -Hehhhh- Another But... ,-)
Everything enjoys some sun too.
Like the Racing Meet, for instance. :-)

love the shadow shots and the blue row home is lovely. baby cardinals must be a little dumb, we had 2 in our doggy danger zone by the pool. if i had not seen them first they would have been grabbed by the Jake Monster. the mother did get them so i hope yours did to.
We've been hanging out too long together. The first thought I had seeing the red geraniums was "Why Red?!" Almost anything else would be preferable. Sometimes things work for the sake of a pop of color. Not this time. Nope. I don't like it either. Still, it's a lovely home.
We're in the same rainy system. I'm tempted to kvetch about that, too, except there are so many who would kill me if I did. No parity in weather that's for sure.
maybe they thought the red flowers gave their house a POP! ha. ha!! love the ducks. so cute. (:
Love those shots. I agree. Those red flowers just do not fit. Poor little baby bird. I do hope he made it to safety.
Have a great Sunday.
Mary
Awwww!!! Poor baby cardinal. I do hope the little one was saved by mama.
As always...love your pics and your new header by the way!
I also believe the red clashes for that "pop of color", I would have used a sunny yellow. Just my thought :) The house is gorgeous! You're right "Auntie", I don't think the owners care what we think, nor should they...lol!!!
Hugs,
Jan
The parking shot looks just like the ASDA grocery parking lot in Aberdeen, Scotland. This covered area came in very handy with the constant wet weather they have.
I don't think I've ever seen a baby cardinal. How fortunate you were to get a good picture.
Hi Auntie
Just back from vacation. Didn't notice I was gone? I pre-posted...don't like to talk about being away before hand. I think just about any other color flower would have worked better...
Just an FYI - I can't see your entire blog without toggling from side to side.
Enjoy your week sweet friend.

The row house reminds me of Cape May, NJ, where I go each summer. There are so many historic Victorian houses there.
Yep, I'm with the rest. The red flowers do not work. :)
I'm glad you have a covered parking lot; however, be careful by shopping during the day. It's a haven for thieves.
HI Auntie, my GKB was chuffed with your birthday greetings, so thankyou very much :)) oops double chins lol. I've found some Mary Stewart novels and the first one I brought home was Rose Cottage. I too enjoy reading of gentler times. I enjoy seeing your photo's of the differnt buildings around your town, well to tell the truth I just enjoy your photo's, they are always so diverse.

cute little cardinal...so cool about the parking garage for the grocery store...you could fry an egg on anything outside here today...it was 85 at 6 am this morning...
I think the porch fairy needs to pay that home a visit. The red HAS GOT to go. What were they thinking. Oh, lets give her the benefit of the doubt, she bought the flowers when they were budding, and thought they would be pink or white?????????
My first thought we I saw the photo was "Eeek...red flowers?" Pink would be so much prettier, but they didn't ask me. :) On second thought, maybe the flowers were a gift like at Mother's Day and the gifter didn't think about the color. Just a thought.
The little cardinal is cute!
Love the shadows ...but that house... awesome!!!!
xoxo

Hope the baby bird ended back with mama!
Beautiful house. I agree about the RED flowers.
I haven't been reading much at all lately and miss it. Have to make time for that.
