Sunday was a beautiful day of constant gentle rain. Interspersed with some heavy rain. But not enough heavy, to beat flowers down. If you look closely above, you can see the rain drops making little circles in the pond.
~~~~~~
And you can also see the first frog of the season... Sitting on the right side of the pond rocks. In this pic and in my Header pic of Monday too. One of the Grandsons says he has seen 3 frogs. But only one, shows himself to us. :-)
(Foxglove and tiny Daisies)
My allergies have set in, with a vengeance, again. No matter how beautiful it is outside, (this morning is beautiful and sunny again) I have to turn the wall A/C units on, and not open windows/doors. -sigh- -moan- -pout- YES, I am very grateful that we were able to install these wonderful wall units, a couple of years ago. And that they work so well.
~~~~~~
But, summer means open windows/doors to me, and I miss that. Also "but", I will stop griping now!!!! Just putting the fact of my allergies into my blog, as a kind of a "this-happened-now-fact". And return to being grateful.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
A house around the corner from us... Which makes a nice 'statement', with green lawn, red flowers and white house paint.
~~~~~~
To Ol' Aunties tastes, it's been done over to look kind of out-of-place, though... Being near old carriage houses and other older looking places... It looks too modern/FL looking, for the NE, to me. But its their house and they can fix it any way they choose. :-)))))
~~~~~~
Notice the dry/brown grass, among the green. I could do a post, just with pics of dry lawns and dry this and dry that.
Did I tell you that I finished...
"The Moon Spinners" by Mary Stewart, and I loved it. And I finished...
"The Moon Spinners" by Mary Stewart, and I loved it. And I finished...
"Madam Will You Talk?" also by M.S. and loved it. And am half way through...
"Nice Coaches Waiting" by M.S. and am loving it!!!!
~~~~~~
And in between, I'm reading parts of "The Nature Principle" and *coffee table* books of lovely photos/words concerning English gardens, and the home of Beatriz Potter, and "In The Garden With Jane Austin" and etc., etc., etc.
~~~~~~
I don't care if nothing much is on tv! I'm loving reading! :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOW, here is a city house, which I love-to-pieces. We go by it often, on one of our usual errand-routes. It's a joy! To me anyway. And I know that others, among my Dear Readers, love this kind of a house too... Old fashioned porch, classic colors, even a neat pattern on the roof...
~~~~~~
Raise your hands... Who wants to move there? :-))))))))
Lovely photos again...you really are good with that camera, "Auntie" :) Love the little frog photos. The white house is cute and well kept. But!!! I would love that last home as my very own!!! Just look at that gorgeous roof!!! BTW, I also love the "painted horse" :)
Sweet Hugs,
Jan
I've never seen a pattern on a roof like that before. How cool!
Your header photo is just beautiful. I paused for a few moments and just gazed into the calming water with the leaves reflected in it. I was so busy gazing that I didn't notice Mr. Froggy. So glad you pointed him out as he is too cute to miss.
I'm with you on #2 being the favorite house. The first one is well maintained, but a bit cold for my tastes. I LOVE the 2nd one. It is charming and cozy and that roof is so interesting. Never seen one like it.
So sorry your allergies are keeping you in, but it sounds like you are getting a lot of reading done.
Sorry your allergies are acting up. Love the photos, as always. We have a town near us where there's a whole section of Victorian homes. One of them has the same roof design as your photo! I love looking at older homes, but since I live in one that's over 100 years old, and I know all of its aches and pains, I'd prefer a newer one.
Peace,
Muff
Oh I can imagine the large square rooms with no slopes until the third floor. Sigh.
We had that nice, gentle rain as well. It was perfection and cooled things off a bit, too.
Auntie, do you round up some local honey? You will be happy if you do. Those allergies will be gone in a flash. I wouldn't lie to you!
You've such a way with the camera. So sorry your allergies are acting up. It leaves one feeling miserable.
Mary
See my hand waving? I love this kind of house! But, the ole knees don't love stairs, so...... But a girl can dream, can't she?
Love all your photos and so sorry about your allergies. Take care!
My hand is raised high. LOVE that house.
Your pond is so pretty!! I see the frog. : ) Glad you got some needed rain.
Vee is right about the honey. My son has allergies and has been eating local honey and it does wonders.
Love Mr. Froggie, visiting your pond, and great shots of him. I prefer the old look to the modern look in houses. But to each their own.
Not very good at climbing steps at this point, so, while I LOVE the last house pictured, it wouldn't be a smart move for me.:(
How wonderful that you had some rain!
I'm sorry about your allergies. One of our daughters has the same problem with grass, trees, and other outside growing things.:(
It is a very pretty home and the roof details are too! Your header pic is beautiful...love the flowers! Thanks for sharing such a nice post!
Hugs
Love your header today.. Thanks for dropping by again. Yes I do water my flowers.. Need to keep some beauty in this bleak brown dried surrounding area
The roof is amazing. What a fun detail on a beautiful house.
I envy your rain - we could use days and days of rain like that.
It's a very bad year for allergies here too - the drought and dryness seem to have made them worse.
Glad you're enjoying Mary Stewart!
I see your little frog!! I love your beautiful pond and it made an excellent header!
Our yard has some brown grass in spots too. Not sure why. It is like a sore spot - just a circle of dead looking brown grass. We have St. Augustine mostly. Bermuda is not my favorite but it seems to be spreading in one area!
Hope your allergies clear up. Meds don't help you?
