We brought this Cute Guy back from the Rotary Scholarship Foundation Brunch, on Sunday. We actually didn't have a pumpkin. And This Cutie was our table center piece. For a donation, you could bring him home. So he enjoys watching the world go by, from our front patio table, during the day. But at night, we bring him in. Don't want him to end up smashed, out on the road, in the morning. -pout-
I took a copy of this book, out of the library, for "Uncle A." and he's been enjoying it so much! Mostly he reads Large Print, and this didn't come in LP. But it's so packed with interesting info, that he's been slowly reading regular print.
But, it's a New Book and you can't keep them out too long. So I said, let's buy a copy and take the library book back. Which we did. We got t his, on the same morning trip, on which I got my Witches Hat. That was a good *errands trip*!!!! :-)
We rarely buy books anymore. But this is the wise exception. He enjoys it! It's a pick-up-now-and-then-book. And it IS packed with thought-provoking information! I was considering getting a couple of house plants. But not now! I could never get rid of them, if I grew tired of them or something. NOT with what I now know, of plants! I'd feel cruel. -pout- :-)

That lovely tree again. Which by now, has lost most of its leaves. Sad... But I enjoyed it and took pics of it, while I could.
This house has been decorated for a while. Every time I go by, I wish I had my camera. Well, this time, I did and we pulled over and I finally got a pic. Those hanging Ghosties are so cute. I didn't think so, when first seeing them. But when the wind blows, they float about and are just the cutest! :-)
Yes, I want some. But we don't have a porch, on which to hang them. -pout-
And yet another variation, on the color changing, of some Sumac. Thank you to Dear Readers who told me the name of this kinda' funny looking tree or large bush. :-) I don't like them, in the summer. But they do put on a beautiful show, with Autumn.
Mmm, are they poison? Or are some Sumac's poison? I thought "Sumac" and "poison" went together....

you sure are pouting a bunch in this post ... turn that frown upside down ... come on ... SMILE!! ha. ha!! love your little pumpkin. i buy a few books to read on my "kindle" ... other than that i don't buy books any more. so i just read the ones i own. amazing how different it feels to hold a book... so heavy. ha. ha!! happy hump day. (:
I rarely buy books anymore now that I have my Kindle. And at that I look for the sales. I also follow a couple blogs which tell you the days there are special freebies for the kindle. If I want them, I download them. I did take a book with me on the train the other day, and had a problem reading it. I've been spoiled with the kindle because one can change the size of the type to what is readable for them.

cute pumpkin and i love the house with the ghosties or without the ghosties.
Beautiful house and what a cheeky wee pumpkin; he seems to fit right in there!
There is more than one type of sumac, some of which are poisonous. Staghorn sumac is most common around here...it has a brilliant scarlet colour in the autumn with seed masses that stand upright (like a candle flame) and are a dark crimson colour. Staghorn isn't poisonous but there's very little about it which would appeal to human tastebuds.
Awwwww, what a cute pumpkin....I don't have my large one yet. Will get one the early part of Nov. to go on my front porch, with some mums. I am having our Bunco group at my house in Nov. and want to spruce up the front porch. Right now, it's still wearing it's summer dress of red and white. I need some fallness out there. :))

i have powdered sumac in my spice cabinet and use it all the time. it has a very lemony flavor. it is highly used in middle eastern cooking. it is great sprinkled on salads. are you still going to get photos of you know whos house?
Is that your house? Because it is the sweetest little cottage, but it has a porch and you said that you had no porch...
Hmmm...makes me wonder what you know about plants...I rarely tire of my plants. They become members of the family who hang out here forever like the Christmas cactus currently on its month long hiatus in the basement.
Some books are just meant to purchase. I bought an old book about Maine entitled "The Old Ashburn Place" or some such thing for a mere $1 at the flea market. Hard cover, sweet graphics...and a nightmare to read. I thought I was going to find lots of cozy descriptions. Nope. I found a lot of dialog that doesn't hold up 80 years later.
Some sumac is poisonous. I don't believe that what you're showing is. Many people steep the fronds that grow for tea. I don't suggest it unless one does some careful research.
Was all that "not my house" there when I read? I can't believe it. I'm going to have to send myself to the corner.
Vee, my answer is posted in your comments.
-grin- We are pumping up our comments number, with this.
"Auntie"
Cute pumpkin... My Mom has started using the library more for her books she reads so many she doesn't have the storage to keep them she has already donated a lot of them to the library
Hello,
It's been awhile since I've been on my computer - so I wanted to make sure I got around to visit you and your wonderful blog.
Hi! How are you doing? - Your pumpkin is just too cute. I love your footer picture with your witches hat on.
Have a great week.
Hugs,
Penny
Nicely decorated pumpkin1 It's wise to bring him in overnight, though. Love that Halloween card!
I just love that house that isn't yours! : )
I can picture myself living there!!
Cute pumpkin. We finally got ours carved out as you will see when you read my post today.
A happy day to you Auntie!! : )
What a darling pumpkin, Auntie...so cute!!! Love the houses decorated for Halloween.
Sumac is very tricky so like any plant, you need to know what you are doing with it before you use it for anything.
Big Hugs,
Jan
I appreciate you showing the cute houses in your town...they are all so lovely and interesting. I love front porches...they are perfect for decorating and sitting.I will be bringing my fall things off the patio soon so nothing gets smashed or bashed...usually the night before Halloween kids are tempted to be destructive. :(
Awwww, what a darling little pumpkin and yes, very wise for you to bring it in at night!! One of our neighbours has had their pumpkin out for a week now and I'm just waiting for the morning when we see it all smashed up on the street:-( Just can't trust the kids around here!!
Love the ghosts hanging on the front porch of that house! I'm working on my own little ghosts which I'll be putting outside...I'll make a post about them once I'm done:-)
Good for Uncle to buy that book instead of just borrowing it from the library, I'm sure he will be using it quite often for all the ideas:-) xoxo
The Goatmother grew up hearing 'poison sumac' too. But apparently there is only one type that is poison and it seems to grow in swampy areas ,Rhus or Toxicodendron vernix.
