The longest night, of the year...

Tonight will be the longest night of the year.  And it is the Eve Of Yule.

"Burning Yule logs is a tradition dating back long before the birth of Jesus. In pre-Christian times, the Yule log was burned in the home hearth on the winter solstice..."

Not many today, go out and bring in the Yule Log, like 'Father Christmas' is doing, above.   :-)

But you could have this kind of a Yule Log.  A "Buche De Noelle" or "Yule Log"...  Yummmm...

If you are like "Uncle A." and long for shorter nights, and longer days....   Then you may wish to rejoice, that tonight is the longest night of the year.   And that with tomorrow's Solstice, the days will slowly begin to get longer again...  And the nights shorter.

Personally, I don't mind longer nights...   But then, I don't have to go out to work, in the dark.  Or return from work, in the dark.  :-)

Anyway, Happy Eve Of Yule!!!

YEA! I'm going to rejoice with Uncle A! I hate the long nights and short darker days! (jumping up and down) I knew you'd keep me posted on that cuz I forget to look at the calendar. I'm so happy, happy, happy!

I'll take a piece of that yummy-looking yule log please!

Now I am just the opposite of most. I love the longer nights. A chocolate Yule log is a part of our Christmas Eve tradition. We don;t slice it until midnight. Happy Yule to you, my friend.

Now my mornings will start to be lighter and I won't have to walk in the dark. Though I don't really mind. As long as I can walk I'm happy!!

Happy Eve of Yule to you too as well, dear Auntie:-) I'm glad we don't have to go out to get a yule log tonight because there's quite the snowstorm raging right now, can't even see across the street! lol Some traditions you just don't mind that they're no longer followed:-)

I look forward to the days getting longer again. I don't mind when it gets dark around 7 or so but not by 5 p.m. like it's doing now!!

Have a lovely evening my friend. xoxo

I prefer the edible yule logs like the one pictured, but that's just my sweet tooth talking.
