A wee, bitty rant... Concerning photography... And progress...
♥
Once upon a time, when I was young actually, if a person looked at a photo, they could believe that what they saw was an accurate representation of what the photographer saw, looking into his camera. In other words, as close to the truth, as was possible.
♥
Not so, anymore. Not so, for a long time. Not so for any, any, any photo, which anyone sees today. Or in the future. We and our children have lost the right to trust photography. And when such trust is lost, it seems to be a big deal, to me.

When I was a kid, and looked at a photo of Lincoln or Queen Victoria, I could know it was an accurate representation. No more. No present day photo HAS to be accurate. No photo from the past, HAS to be accurate. That's sad.
♥
I understand and accept that many people get a great deal of innocent enjoyment, out of all the ways to Photoshop. And I don't begrudge them, this enjoyment.
♥
On the other hand, If Something Can Be Done, It Will Be Done. And so, when this whole Photoshopping ability came into being, it removed confidence of truth, from all photography.

Do not visit me! My blog is loaded with photographs that have been "done." I love it. I don't roll out of bed in the morning and head for the grocery store without cleaning up a bit. So I don't see it as "artificial" as you do. Barbara at Ramblings From an English Garden feels as you do so you can always trust her photos. ☺
Our changing world is difficult for me, as I have a tendency to believe everything I see and hear. And the worst is I trust everyone!!!
I seldom add a photo to my posts WITHOUT using PhotoScape. Resizing photos is very important in blogging. I don't care for a really large header so I always resize when making one.
I use it to lighten a too-dark photo....to clear it up if it's a little blurry...to enhance color if needed. This is what I do to make my blog prettier and have never, even once, thought I was making them artificial looking. I think of it as "DANG, I sure am glad to have access to this photo thing to help my pictures look nicer."
Have a good day and I hope your sweetie is feeling better. :)
I can see where you're coming from and kind of agree but then look at all the wonderful photos we wouldn't get to see if some weren't doctored up a bit.
BTW - the pictures on my photo blog are how I take them. If I doctor them I will say it.
As you know, I still haven't been able to download my photos, but hopefully soon. So glad we're able to comment again. Wanted to wish you a wonderful weekend.

I wish I could afford to buy PhotoShop, I would have it in a heartbeat.
I couldn't comment first thing this morning either.
all my photos are doctored except for the ones i write out of the camera under them. i love photoshop it is my coloring book and paper dolls and cut and paste. it is true, photos can not be trusted, since just about anyone can put something in one. but the good thing is experts can tell when they have been adjusted. its like using my curling iron on my board straight hair and covering up the OLD skin with make up and powder. the good thing is some like it and some don't but and that is not a problem either. god bless software and photoshop
I guess I don't have a problem with it. Seems to me like there are so many other things I can complain about.:)
i have never edited or photoshoped a picture, never not ever...i don't know how and i don't want to learn. what you see is what i saw, just zoomed, of course!!
Hi Auntie, I'm late to comment, but I just wanted to say that I see what you're saying. Does that make sense?
I don't have Photoshop, but once in a while I do a brightening if the color is washed out on a free editing program like Picasa. And I also crop. And zoom. That's about it. I will mention if I've used any other enhancement like water painting, etc.
To each their own, as you say! I just simply enjoy pretty photos much the same as I enjoy a painting. It's all art!
