♥ "These old buildings do not belong to us only, they..."

Flying the Flag...

Broadway...  Looking up...  At the tops of buildings...

The interesting thing in this photo, is that the deeper red building on the right, is a NEW building.

But see how wonderfully the builder made sure that the looks of his new building, blended in with the looks of the old ones, to the left.    Now this is our idea of wonderful building, and a form of preservation.

Thanks Tom!!!

'Bunting'!!!  I love 'bunting'!!!

More looking-up, at the top of old buildings, down street...

Ohhhhh don't-cha' love that old fashioned wrap-around porch????  :-)

More flag flying, on a beautiful old home/porch...

Yet another older home......  Prettied-up for summer.......  With flowers, and hanging greens,
and porch furniture...

"These old buildings do not belong to us only, they belong to our forefathers and they will belong to our descendants unless we play them false.  They are not in any sense our own property to do with as we like with them.  We are only trustees for those that come after us."

Such a true quote... Some do better than others at preserving for the future. My, what a lot of beautiful old homes in your corner. People obviously have a lot more wealth than those in mine.

Oh yes! I so enjoy seeing your beautiful photos of houses and buildings in your city. I just love the wraparound porches and sometimes wish for an older two-story home with one. I do believe they are my favorite style house. But, I must be sensible and think to the future and plan for everything on one floor, should we decide to move.

Beautiful. The last home reminds me of the one my parents bought when I began high school. Spent my teen age years there. Loved sitting on that big old porch in the wee hours of the morn.

Love your latest photos! Those older homes do have a certain quaint charm about them. Ours is over 100 years old, and it is charming, but way too much work!
Peace,
Muff

I love your pretty town with all the beautiful old homes. We don't have many left around our town. Some have been preserved but an awfully lot have been torn down.
We have a section of homes at the edge of town, built in the old fashioned style and they are LOVELY. I have decided if ever I win the lottery, I will have one of the NEW homes, made to LOOK olden..but with all new insides....:))
