And that folks, is what is known as a "Dead Heat"...
Two winners. Neck and neck. Nostril to nostril. -grin- The first 'dead heat' in this race, since 1874!!!! Which made for a super-duper Travers race. Even though there weren't big-name-horses in it. :-) Fun to watch on tv, while eating a "sub" and drinking a Root Beer. :-))))

And I finally captured a Butterfly!!!!! :-)))) I was so excited, trying to get a pic of him, when he lit and his wings were in view ~~ That I didn't really *see* him, till looking at the pics. :-)

And from the sublime, to the ridiculous, as they say... Just a tiny bit of the crap-o-la, waiting for Monday morning and "MR. CHUCK IT" to come.
Remember how I was trying to bag *stuff*? Well, I did so, with much. Sat. I tried to do it again, upstairs. And Uncle A. worked on it, down cellar. After a while, I had to admit... It was toooooo much for me to bag all the *stuff.* And I made an executive decision... About both of us. I called Uncle A. on our cell phones (me, up on bedroom level and he, down in cellar), and said; "This is it! Kids are right! We have to stop trying to bag. Do as d-i-law did, point and Mr. Chuck It takes the stuff."
I even called them (next door son/d-i-law) and admitted to them that THEY WERE RIGHT! Which is one amazing happening, around here. Believe me, "Aunt A." (aka "Nana") is never, never, never, never, never, wrong. -smirk-

Those *crazy* Tuberous Begonias out front, are still going *like gang-busters*!!! :-)))) This usually happens in the fall. I really want to put some Autumn Mums out there. But the dear old Begonias just won't quit, and I hate to chuck them out. -grin-

A cute little gate, on Broadway... Leading to back yard, behind 2 old buildings.

And looking a bit farther up Broadway... There are shops, in the old buildings. And on the far right, is a lovely old building... Once a Rooming House. Redone beautifully, as at 'B and B'. With a lovely long old porch, and rocking chairs, where guests can sit and rock and watch people go by. And make believe they are back in the era of the grand hotels... When Lillian Russell might ride by, on her made-of-gold and diamond and jewel encrusted Tricycle... A gift, from Diamond Jim Brady.
I love, love, love the lore of my beloved city. :-) I'll some day show you a picture of the home (off of N. Broadway) which she rented in the Aug. Racing Season. THIS is one of the old homes, which I was able to wander through!!! (An open house, one time when it was being sold, so people could go through and buy items the then owners no longer wanted. I didn't buy. I just enjoyed!!!) Walking down the staircase and imagining her coming down, dressed for a dinner party in the dining room. :-)

what fun to see the old buildings! i saw some of the race but was out and about and just caught a short bit on a tv in the store. that sure was a close finish. did not know that about lillian russell and diamond jim brady. and i agreee...let mr. chuck it do all the work!
its always better when a race is so close...more exciting...I love your photos...that butterfly is so pretty....
i love that row of buildings with the gate and all the photos of it are wonderful. i am wondering the why of that pretty gate, since it would not keep anyone in or out. maybe just privacy? it is beautiful. and i love your butterfly. gorgeous. hope chuck it gets there soon
Beautiful shot of the butterfly perched on echinacea! Btw, I truly enjoy seeing the old homes/buildings and learning a bit of the history behind them; thanks so much for sharing!
I always love seeing your building photos! You're chucking BONGOS -- no way! Find your inner beatnik!
Peace,
Muff
Oh look at all that lovely stuff heading out. Do you feel lighter yet? I did get rid of my three bags yesterday and John took them off to the transfer station along with all the rest of the regular stuff. I figure that if I can do the three bags a week thing every week, it'll get done eventually.
What a race! That must have been some kind of exciting to see.
Very gracious, handsome homes in your town...
Don't do in your begonia for a mum. Do you keep plants indoors? I kept my begonia until after Thanksgiving inside when it finally gave up the ghost.
Fabulous butterfly shot! No wonder you were excited!!!!
We missed the horse race! It must have been exciting!
Love that gate!
Have a good Monday!
Amazing tie of the horse race!!
Congratulations on the butterfly capture. They can be hard to get!
