We went out quite early the other morning, and I got a lot of pics of houses around my city. "Uncle A." did much work, being my driver. The driving in one thing. The STOPPING on COMMAND, when I see a Photo Op, is another. -grin- (One can not stop in the middle of the street, when traffic is coming, he tells me. Who knew????) -grin-

(And here is a side view of that house, above... It just took my breath away...)
There are so many aspects, which I love, about this house. The colors. The lace curtains in the windows. The fact that it has 3 small porch or balcony aspects. 3! How precious.
It seems as if this house was being repaired, when we last went by. What a wonderful job they do, of maintenance. In time for High Season in town. (I like to refer to August Racing Season, as High Season. It just sounds kind of *posh* and *exciting.* -gigggles-) Why not try to add some *posh and exciting* to anything possible, say I? ,-) And *sparkle,* also! Life can never have too much *sparkle*!

But pretty houses in my city, aren't all HUGE. This one isn't all that imposing. But it's taken care of, and the choice of hanging flowers, seems to compliment the colors of the house. To me, it's a very welcoming house. Ahhhhh, that porch!!! With chairs, to sit down in, and watch the world go by.

Flowers are getting kind-of raggggggidy-looking... :-) Toward the end of August.

As if they are saying; "We had a grand and glowing time of it! Yes we did! But now... -sigh- But now... We are getting a wee bit tired... Would you mind awfully, if we stopped being so perky and bright, now? And let some of our pretty petals, just kind of droop and hang? Please.... And thank you"
:-))))))))

oh how i love painted ladies! and the first one is so cute with the saddle bag mailbox and the horse shoe over the door. and that second one is so cute too. one of my favorite things to do is redo small houses. my flowers are having the same conversation here. they know that fall is almost here!
I think the flowers are saying a little dead heading is in order. They'll continue to bloom beautifully with some judicious removal of the spent blooms. There's an analogy there someplace in your post of yesterday and the removal of clutter. Today I'm removing a few bags of clutter. I have three waiting and they ARE going to be filled.
Oh my...that house! Is that considered a painted lady? There may not be enough colors. The artful placement of the three porches is delightful. They wouldn't look nearly as pleasing stacked one atop the other.
Thanks to Uncle A for doing a great job of stopping on a dime...in traffic no less. LOL!
Have a fun weekend.
that first house is beyond beeeeeeeautiful whatever that word would be. i just love it, and for all the reasons you listed. i like the other one to. i have a passion for old houses and old buildings. the flowers are wonderful no matter if some are drooping
For some reason the fading flowers of summer's end always make me think of the song 'Begin the Beguine'; it's playing on the little stereo in my head right now...
Both houses are gorgeous: the painted lady with all her ruffles and flourishes, and the smaller house with it's subtler beauties of colour and proportion. Oh, and the porches; porches add such a welcoming and cozy touch!
Well done to Uncle A!
Love when you show the house pictures! Poor flowers -- the season's almost over!
Peace,
Muff
I am loving the pics of houses!! I love them both, but the first is especially beautiful. Love the colors, the porches...all of it!! Oh, how I would love to see the inside! Kudos to Uncle A for stopping for you to take these lovely photos!!
Your flowers are still pretty, the header pic flowers are so cheerful looking.
Our garden certainly has that "August look." Ready to move on to the next stage.
That house is awesome...do they have home tours? Here in Michigan some of the towns have home tours where you can go inside the houses...so much fun...but it makes you want to come home and knock down some walls. LOL
that house is GORGEOUS...I agree. poor flowers.....sad to see them go
Lovely house!! My flowers are tired of being knock-out gorgeous too!!
Dear Auntie,
I can identify with those raggedy and tired flowers. :)
I'm so enjoying your tours...Uncle is such a sweetie to be your driver...and to follow your directions...
