♥ "What we did, on our (Labor Day) *Vacation*" Hehh, not much!

Peaches, from a local farm.  I never make Dessert for us, after dinner.  But when I saw these peaches, I thought I'd better do so.  Some how...  So I'm letting them get nice and ripe.  Will make a Pound Cake for Uncle A. and a G/F small white Cake for myself.  And in some way, top pieces of the cakes, with the peaches.
Yes, it MUST be Autumn!!!  If I want to do a bit of baking!!!!  :-))))

(Uncle A. ...  Son Edward)

As you can see from these pics, it was a beautiful Labor Day weather.  Perfect for doing what's tradition around here, on Labor Day...  Covering the pool.

(Son-in-law Mark...  Daughter Lisa...  Son Edward)

Uncle A. has been putting lots and lots of chlorine into the water.  Then turned the pump off and the black plastic cover was brought in.  On top of that, goes a strong mesh cover.  Which is a very important addition, to gather leaves which fall in the Autumn.
Next spring, when they take the mesh cover off first, all the leaves/crap will be gathered in it, and not fall into the pool water. When the regular cover is removed.

(Uncle A. ...  aka 'Pop' ...  aka 'Dad')

Our pool is a Gunnite pool, and is never fully drained.  It's let down to a certain depth, and left thus, for the winter.  When the water level is down, Uncle A. can continue with all the other stuff he has to do, to "put-the-pool-to-bed-for-the-winter"...  Take the pool light out, drain the water tubes, put anti-freeze in them, etc., etc.  ~~~~~~  Plus, the ding-dang-new-pump still leaks!  Grrrr...  So he can replace something or other, which may need to be.  ?????  I don't know anything about this.  He takes care of it.  :-)

I've had this little hanging 'Bat', for years and years and years and years.  And he usually hangs from the light fixture, over our eating table.  He is just so cute, with his little ears and his bright eyes and smile.  :-)
And.........  There is my broom again!  Which "lives" right in the kitchen.  ,-)

Good morning dear Auntie:-)

Don't faint, yes it's really me! lol I love peaches and have just bought a basket of them the other day. So far I haven't baked anything with them but have made myself a couple of smoothies with them:-)

It sure is a lot of work to winterize the pool, isn't it! So worth it, though, when you can enjoy it so much during the summer. Folks that have pools around here are still using them since the warm weather is sticking around during the day.

That little bat is so darling and I don't blame you for leaving him right where he is for all these years:-) He would make me smile every time I'd see him.

I was thinking of taking out my Fall decorations today...so far I'm just thinking of it! lol

Have a wonderful day my friend and it's good to be back:-) xoxo

Unofficially summer may be over, but the weather doesn't seem to know that. It is so humid today you almost cut the air with a knife.

Our Labor Day was very sticky - glad you had nice weather for yours! I like your header photo - Mason jars make wonderful flower vases.

The peaches look lovely. Have you thought of cutting them up and putting them in the bottom of the cake pan (with a tiny bit of sugar sprinkled in first, then a bit more over the fruit)? Then they bake right into the cake. Or for a topping, you could slice and saute them briefly in butter or margarine, throwing in a bit of brown sugar and spice at the end. Mmmmm! Cooking is so much fun at this time of year with all the wonderful fresh ingredients we have available.

That is a VERY cute little bat. :)

I wish I were there to sample the dessert you'll make from the peaches. :)

Your pool must be fun to have as a gathering place for family; in the pool and now covering the pool.

Have a wonderful week!

My parents had a pool, but my dad never did all that. He had a service come in to get it ready for the winter, but we waited until October so we could squeeze every last drop out of summer! I'm just loving your fall decorations! Do all those lovely houses get dressed up for fall?
Peace,
Muff

Can I come over for dessert? Whenever I see lovely fresh peaches like that I always think of peach crisp...soooo much better than apple crisp and naturally gluten free!
