The sun was shining on Sat., but the wind was cool. A restaurant on Broadway was still serving out on the long porch, if you wanted to eat out there. (It has a lovely long porch, because it once was a lovely old Hotel... The Rip Van Dam... Preserved, by housing other businesses now.) I only saw one couple out there, at that moment. But this was taken, mid afternoon. From my car window. :-)
Was trying to capture a picture of the heating, which they provide, on the porch. Those tall Art Deco looking lamps, which show reddish... And those tall white/clear boxes... They are sources of heat, for diners, when the cool winds blow. ,-))))
We went down street to eat, mid afternoon on Sat., and we were amazed at the amount of cars and people! And we were wondering what was going on? But guess it was simply that it was a beautiful Sat. and loads of people were enjoying being on our Broadway. They probably read, that our Main Street was selected as one of the 10 BEST in the Nation. Along with 5th Ave. in NYC and others. :-)))
How cool is that????
We keep getting similar (how great a city this is) awards. About how super it is here. And of course, lots of people come here, and then buy homes here and live here. Because it's soooooo nice.
And then, they want to CHANGE IT!!!!!!!!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... %^**&^%$%^&& -spit- -fire- -pout- -gag- -scream- -sigh- Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

About 5PM on Sunday, everything changed around here. Our next-door d-i-law called. 12 year old Grand had fallen and broken his arm, and they had to get him to the ER. "Pop" went right over to be with the other Grands. I "shut things down" here, since the tv was going, and he had been cooking dinner, etc..... When I got there, the Emergency Corps vehicle was there and a gurney was outside the front door. !!!! The break was so bad, that they had to call them, to secure the arm and transport him to the ER.
They finally got home, somewhere like 10PM. He had good care, with our fav bone docs. But it wasn't an easy time of it. -sigh- With luck, it is set, and it won't have to be operated on... But we will have to see, about that...
Bingo! How quickly things change... From an ordinary Sun., to a very not-ordinary-one....

so sorry to hear about the broken bone, you are right, a split second can change our lives forever. i love that old hotel and what beautiful way to provide heat. do you know what that green thing is hanging down from the ceiling in the middle of the second shot? i would like to visit the store in the basement with the cowboy hats in the windows.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your grandson's broken arm. How in the world did that happen? Boys can do the most interesting things! Yes, life can change instantly no doubt about it.
Exactly! Everyone loves your city, they show up, and promptly wish to set change in motion. I was just laughing to think how many years it would take for my state to show up in the top ten. Hahahahaha...
Lovely porch for eating, though Saturday was so brisk, I can't imagine even attempting to eat an entire and expensive meal out there.
New moon, eh? Well maybe that's the trouble... I'm more inclined to think it's the foul weather and cold temps.
Oh the poor little thing. I hope that it works out - our Fireman had a bad break as a boy and they had to re-break it and set it again. I was sick over it.
Let's hope the week gets better!

Sorry to hear about your grandson's arm. Hoping it will mend soon.
We had winter weather on Saturday. It was lovely cooking weather. Today it seems as summer is making a fight to come back. I'm not happy with the dreariness and humidity.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandson breaking his arm, Auntie...how sad. I do hope that he does not have to have surgery.
Love the photos and that old hotel is wonderful! Gosh! How I love old buildings :)
I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
Caring Hugs,
Jan

GoodNess Girl! Poor little Grand!! Hope they got it fixed right and proper and nothing else needs to be done!!

That's such a shame for your grandson. Knowing how twelve-year-olds behave, though, it's not surprising! Hope he heals quickly and without too much discomfort. Love the photos of your lovely city/town.
Peace,
Muff
Oh no! So sorry to hear about your grandson's arm! Hope he'll mend in no time, Auntie.
Well, you must have a beautiful town there - that's a pretty place in your picture - think I'd wanna move there, too! More pics please of your beautiful town!
Oh sorry to hear about your grandson's arm breaking. Sure hope it heals fine and no operation is needed.
I'd love to take a stroll down your Main Street!
There are some of those heating things at a restaurant here by us too and though I like to eat outside sometimes, when it's cold enough to need a heater, I'd rather just stay inside. : )
things can change quickly...I'm glad no surgery was needed...boys...always up to something...love your photos...
I'm so sorry to hear about your Grand's broken arm and hope it heals quickly and cleanly, with no complications. Not the kind of excitement you want!
Your poor grandson...what a painful and frightening ordeal for him. I sure hope it heals with out to much discomfort or complications. That is a grand hotel/restaurant. Heat or no heat I would be inside. I say leave well enough alone, your town seems to be doing well on it's own....new people should not be able to change anything for 20 years. LOL
I'm so sorry to hear about the broken arm! I sure hope he will mend well.
I love seeing photos of your beautiful city!
