Sat. we went for a late lunch, at The Olde Bryan Inn again. This time I asked to be seated in the really old part. Which was fine with the Hostess.
This picture was hanging on the wall, beside our booth. One doesn't want to look too closely at this lady... Not really good for digestion. -gigggles-

One each end of this really old room, is a real fireplace. Both of them (and the fireplace in the bar area) burn real wood. Delightful!!! Except when one is seated right near them, it can get a bit HOT. :-) ~~~~~~ I held my camera way up, to get a shot of the fireplace, but not get other dinners. Got 'Uncle A.' though, because he was right across from me. :-)
We had a delicious meal, which I forgot to take a picture of! And when we came home, we had Irish Coffee. And he could sit down and watch the ND game. Wild game, which they did finally win. And I, to my book again.
"Some Kind Of Fairy Tale" by Graham Joyce. GREAT booooook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could hardly put it down!!!!!!!!!!! THAT is a great book!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~ I want to read more, by this author. THAT too, is the sign of a great book!!!!!!!

Where we were parked, across from The Olde Bryan Inn, I noticed this very interesting tree+fence. They had learned to co-exist, over many years. It certainly makes for a great surprise Photo Op! :-)
How do you top that photo? Can't. Better quit. :-)
But first... It's great to come out of The Olde Bryan Inn and smell the smoke, from real fires. So many people have gas fireplaces today. Which of course, don't give that delightful fragrance of burning wood. And a home-heating stove, doesn't give the same delightful fragrance either. One has to enjoy the outdoor fragrance of a real wood burning fireplace, when one happens to come across it. :-)

oh, your inn reminds me of my home state (Massachusetts) and of the old inns there! I love real wood fireplaces and when we put a stove in it will burn real wood for sure.
Thanks for the book recommendation!
one of my favorite smells is a wood burning fire! that inn is just wonderful! i wonder if you will get hit with the next storm? the ND game was crazy!
beautiful spot, I'm looking for that book!
i would so love to eat in that room, i love old rooms and you are right about the poor lady in the photo. she looks really miserable. all those tight clothes, no electric, sewing by hand, not allowed to VOTE...hope all the ladies reading today are going to Vote. that fence/tree can not be topped. amazing and beautiful.
I love the atmosphere of that Inn...how wonderful!!!
Hi, Uncle A.!!!
That photo is fantastic!!! Love the way the fence and tree get along ;)
The book sounds interesting...I must see if I can get a copy from our library.
Hugs, Auntie~~~
Would love to visit the inn. Travel today was long, but not treacherous. Thanks for worrying. My concern now is the trip home.

I love to smell wood-burning fireplaces. Depending on the type of wood, you can get different scents each time! How old would that fence/tree be for it to be intertwined in such a way? Glad you had a nice lunch!
Peace,
Muff
I'd love to have a meal in the Inn. Looks wonderful. The lady in the picture looks like a character right out of Charles Dickens book.
Wow, cool picture of the tree/fence!
I wrote down the name of the book and will read it. I said before I've never read a book that you recommended that I didn't like!!
I had a dream about you last night! : )
Without going into too many details.
You were driving a school bus following 2 other bloggers (can't remember who) and drove passed me while I was walking. Just then your bus broke down. You opened the doors, saw me and came out of the bus. We hugged and then Ken popped up to fix the bus for you. Me and you walked around together down one of my paths.
You were very tall!!!
It was a nice happy dream. : )
Looks and sounds cozy! I love the smells of autumn wood fires, leaves, everything!

I do love my wood burning stove...
Glad you enjoyed your lunch. ;)
Fall is Surly here!! Love the photos Auntie!

I have "got" to begin to visit our more interesting restaurants instead of the convenient shopping center ones.
Who's the lady in the bonnet? lol
Love the picture of the tree!
Yep, I'll be voting tomorrow; not real excited about the aftermath that's surely to happen, but we'll persevere regardless of who our president and other government leaders are.
Now I'd love to go there to eat and I'd even let that lady stare at me like that throughout my meal. LOL! What a great fireplace. Super photo of the fence and the tree. As always, now I am curious about that book!
That inn looks so inviting. The lady in the painting looks like she may be totally sick of all of that stitching--"Don't even think of giving me something else to mend. Can't you see it's dark in here?".
Isn't nature amazing. Love the way that tree grew through and then totally engulfed the fence.
The fence and tree is a great photo. Like you I also love the smell of smoke from real fireplaces and people's burning leaf piles. It is fun to eat at restaurants with character. Thanks for sharing.:)
Hey I see a lot of my friends here!
I am going to vote - even though the lines will be 2 hours long - rain - and much cooler.
And I think that women looking at me - would make me have indigestion too - and feel a little guilty!

love the fence/tree...what a fun place to eat...
I love a fireplace! And I enjoy going along with you on your every post! The places I have been - all thanks to YOU!!!
Oops, I started reading your blog and dozed off! No, no...it's not your writing!! LOL! I didn't mean that. It's just that I can't stay awake tonight like I usually do. I think this election stuff is wearing me down. I'll be so glad when it's over. Just hoping our party wins!!
Love the photo of the fence and tree! And the book sounds good, I'll have to look for it. Great shot of the dining experience, too. Looks like a lovely place to dine.
The picture with the tree and the fence looks great. We have something that looks similar in the park opposite but in actual fact is deceptive because the fence has in this case been cut specially to shape round the tree. It looks pretty good too.
That book looks very interesting. I'm going to make a note and go and take a look.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Lynn :D
