Please Thank a Veteren, today...

Please, thank a Veteran today...

I will begin, by thanking my husband.

I so love little white candles.  Love their little flicker.  Love the pretty shadow, which they cast about.  Love the ambiance, they bestow on a room.

"Heap high the farmer's wintry hoard!
Heap high the golden corn!
No richer gift has Autumn poured
From out her lavish horn!"

~  John Greenleaf Whittier

More rocks and leaves...  More sunlight...   More shadows, among the river rocks...

A shadow, on a sunny day...  Another form of ambiance...  Sun and shadow, on a table, set with a pub-style red and white tablecloth...

Some of the Old Roses, put to bed, for winter.  Covered with a blanket of leaves.

Oh may I start by thanking your husband? Thank you, Uncle, for your service to this country we love!

We had seven veterans to thank yesterday. They're getting to be a bent an elderly group. Two were Vietnam vets and even they were bent and white, but then we're marking the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, which I find surprising. (I think Uncle is among the handsomest of veterans. =) )

Delightful photos...always fun to see what has caught your eye.

you hit the jackpot on your photos today in my book. love rocks, love shadows, love sunshine, love leaves and every candle in my house is white because i love the way they glow. i do have one glad apple on the stove for the smell, but i love small white candles all over the house.

My dad is a vet (and quietly proud of having served his country as a Marine).

I love shadows too, and blankets of leaves. :)

What a wonderful parade photo at the top of the post!

Happy Veterans day to your hubby. I spent yesterday on 'ind a Grave' placing flowers on all the vets in my family, going back to the Revolutionary War. That site is such a wonderful place.

Yes, ma'am - first thank the Mister for me. Whenever I meet those serving in the military now and those who've served in the past. Grossly underpaid and seriously under-honored (don't know if that's a word, but you understand).

I like the rocks and leaves picture, Auntie. Well, they're all pretty - you know I used to always rake the leaves and clean out flowerbeds during the fall, but I decided that they DO make a great blanket for the plants and shrubs. So now I leave them til spring! and usually mulch on top of them. They eventually break down anyway, and it's good for the soil.

Have a good 'un!

Auntie, We love our vets too. Thank you for visiting my blog. I love to go to Nellie's to see what she's cooking up. I think her oven must be on all the time :):):) Love your photos. Smiles, Susie

Oh please do thank your hubby for me! My hubby is a Vietnam veteran and I've thanked him. We must never forget our brave warriors!

Love your photos today. I must put my roses to bed for the winter, but the Knockouts have still been blooming. I think they may have gotten too cold last night, tho.

Got to thank a lot of past and present veterans last weekend while in San Antonio. Thanks to your Hubby too.
The marines were out in full force since Nov 10th was their birthday.
They sure looked good in those dress blues.
