I was signing my comments with; "Auntie", From The Land That Winter Forgot"... Well, looking at that ice, I guess I can't say that anymore. So perhaps I'll switch my sign-off, to ; "Auntie," From The Land That Snow Forgot"... -sigh-
I was born many years ago, in The Land Which Had 4 Real Seasons. But I know. All earth's weather changes, and has cycles, etc. But I am really "getting my panties in a knot," with this no-snow-business. We saw a "local preview of winter" piece on tv, and they said it would be more normal a Winter, than our last one. (NO SNOW, that one was!) And I am still, still, still, still, still waiting for the Normal-With-Snow Part.
We finally got our Angel on top of our little tree. And found the tree skirt. Plus having the Little Train installed around the tree table... So it's looking like a "real" Christmas Time, INSIDE anyway. :-) ~~~~~~~~~ As to the lack-of-snow-part, I suppose I could go into my past blog entries, and find some jolly snow ones! Perhaps that would make me feel a little *better.* ,-)
At the library, "Uncle A." parked while I went in to return/pick up. Came out and proceeded right to the car you see in my pic.... Opened the door and saw a RED COAT. ?????? The lady in the Red Coat said; "I think you want to get into the car, next to this one." OMGOSH! Luckily, she was an 'Olden Lady' too, so we got a big laugh out of it, but...... Stillllllll.... Good Grief!!!! ,-)
~~~~~~~~
But, her car was red, and a Honda too. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. -grin-
This is a very old Elf, and rather the-worse-for-wear. But we always hang him up. We got him, when our Daughter was 2 months old, at her first Christmas (53 years ago). We hung him on the same light fixture. She would sit in one of those reclining seats for very small babies (on the table), and she would *look* at him. He was probably just a RED BLOB to a 2 month old, but it's become a tradition.
~~~~~~~~~
We were in our first little house then, but the same beautiful red light fixture moved with us, when we built this one. :-)
~~~~~~~~
Mmmm, I've probably told this following story before, but I do have new Readers so.... :-)))) When we were ready to move into this house... The builder said; "We'll take the lamp down, but you (us) drive it across town, to the new house. And we'll put it up there. But WE are NOT going to be responsible for transporting it, across town!" -grin- So, we did!
~~~~~~~~
John loved Red, and he wasn't going to break that lamp!!! :-) Rest in peace, John... -sigh-

And this is just a STOP we had to make for a couple of minutes, on our way to another errand. Certainly a "Just Because I Can" pic! Guess I'm getting desperate for Photo Ops, hu?!?!?!?

It has been the land that winter forgot here as well - for a couple of years! The last couple of days we finally got some cold weather but today it's going to be almost 60 again. So non-Christmasy!
I love love love the because i can of the man through the windshield. and your angel is so beautiful.. like the ice pics but am not interested in seeing it myself. mother had an elf a lot like this one and she hung it on the dining room fixture. her fixture was not beautiful like yours though.
Love all the photos...red, red, red...my favorite color.
I see you in the mirror taking a photo of the red Honda. Waving to you now as I type!
Also...I think my favorite is the red elf. Such wonderful memories, and I'm glad that he still brings smiles to your heart (and mine.)
Love,
Jackie
LOL at your story about getting in the wrong car - so funny and the sort of thing I would do.
Last week I went to the cinema with my friend - we were early so went to sit in the bar area which wasn't yet open but we were told we could use it. We sat down in these sort of bucket leather seats and as I sat down my chair made a rather unseemly noise. This made us laugh, a bit racously and so I decided to go one step further and repeat my little prank three or four times. 30 seconds later I was rather embarrassed to find that there was another group of people sat in the bar which I'd thought was empty. Ah, comedy chairs. You've got to love them.
We also have no snow and none forecast for now.
Lynn :D
What a beautiful angel! When I first saw those pictures, I thought it was water. Ice!!! Yikes!!!! With all that ice you'd best believe I would call into work.

What a fun post this was. You had me and Ken both laughing!!
You'd better not complain too loudly about not having any snow - you just might get a whole lot more than you want! : )
Wrong car story too funny... My grandmother got into the wrong car tried to start it but her keys wouldn't work..she looked around and noticed her car on the next row over
It's turned out to be an awful day; still, I need to get away from the tragedy awhile and read a few posts that were written before it happened.
Thanks for the smile.
