'Uncle A.' made another one of those little wooden toys, which he made for the silent auction, for the Rotary Scholarship Foundation Brunch... A lady who works with our son, wanted the one at the silent auction, for her son. But was out-bid.
She told our son, this. He told his Dad and his Dad said he'd make one for her, to give to her son. She can contribute to the Rotary Scholarship Foundation, just like she would have, at the Brunch. She was so happppppppppy. And he put her little boy's name on it too. :-)
A nice little story, in the Christmas Time happenings... :-)
Thurs. evening I began reading "A Killer's Christmas in Wales." -chuckle- I got a kick out of the name, because it's soooooooooo difffffferent from "A Child's Christmas In Wales." ... Which is so very, very sweet.
And the cover! Look at that cover art! A quaint English Village, with snow falling and a bit of a moon overhead! Mmmmmm... Delicious.... :-)
But! I was half way through, before anyone *bit the dust*. Imagine that! That's taking a kind of a long time, to get into the *nitty-gritty* of a mystery. But with all the lead-up... The character who did end up dead, was a surprise. Guess that's a good plot, of course.
Village life in the UK, at Christmas, cozy, cozy, cozy... :-) I love the descriptions of homes and streets and etc.
Do you Dear Reader, like Cozy Mysteries? And if so, do you have a favorite type of Cozy Mystery?
As my Subject Line sezzzzzz... 'Tis a gray, rainy, dull, kinda' warm day dawning, in my neck of the woods. I can't make all those Christmas Cookies, in the calendar page. Because we don't eat them. (I won't let either of us eat them, is more to the point. ,-) ) But it feels like a day, when there should be some sort of a sweet, warm aroma wafting from the kitchen...... S-O-M-T-H-I-N-G... :-)

'Mornin' Auntie! Just makin' my rounds and seein' what everybody's doin' today... (my that's alot of dropped "g's") But that's how we roll down here in Texas. :) I think "they" just oughta say LEAVE 'EM OFF, cuz it looks weird to read somethin' with "g's" on the ends of words - cuz that's not how we talk down here. And we use more syllables to speak a one-syllable word, too, like...
4 - the number four - we say "fower" with a long "o". Two syllables. And for door, we say "dower" with a long "o".
How in tarnation did you get me on that subject? :)
Well, in answer to your question, I don't read many mysteries, altho the "cozy" descriptions DO sound "cozy"!
It's warmish and grey and a bit foggy here, too. We've been havin' mid-70's temps and 'spose to have a front come through Sunday. I've had the AC back on as well as sandals. Should be in the 20's & 30's a coupla nights before warmin' up again.
Now, today if you wanna be cozy, go bake somethin' sweet with Splenda and gluten-free and enjoy!
It's freezing rain here...rather a nasty wintry mix. We are just back from a cozy breakfast with both kids, a daughter-in-law, and the grands. What fun! Sam and I planned it last week. I asked him if he remembered when we made this plan and now it was happening. He got a foggy look on his face and grinned. It was so cute. I'm glad that he is learning that plans can be made and appointments kept. And, the best news is that he ate all his breakfast — a first! And Jake ate a great breakfast, too.
As to baking...I should and then freeze it because it turns out that the far family will be home for a few days just before Christmas and something must be planned.
I truly feel as if this is a reading day before the tree with a cozy fire. Trouble is...no cozy fire. I finished my Christmas mystery...an Anne Perry one...and now am moving on to more description with a Jan Karon book. I don't really know why the little book I read was even advertised as a "Christmas" mystery as there were precious few descriptions. The only one I remember was the discussion of a bowl of onions and some nuts and some greens being arranged.
So there you have it from your terribly chatty friend.
Cozy's are my Favorite reads! I like MC Beaton!
LOVE the photos in here!!
hughugs
i gain weight on wafting sweet smelling smells. LOL
I thought I was the only one that had to have a calendar that is just right in size, the place i hang it in the kitchen will not hold those big beautiful ones, and a tiny one looks odd and beside i can see to write on it. so it has to be just right
Gray here today too...
No time for reading around here...and not for awhile, I think.:)
Chilly here but sun is shining.
Ck to see if Susan Branch has a mini calendar that might fit your spot.
The two large ones I ordered from her came and she included a third..free of charge. She is such a sweet woman.
It's gray here today too. And a Killer Christmas??? Not sure about that. sandie
same damn weather here. where is our winter??? i made some cookie dough to bake tomorrow and i am making spaghetti and meatballs for the gang. i sure hate this mild december weather.
That was so nice of UncleA. : ) I love the toys that he makes.
I like reading British mysteries best, but enjoy most mysteries.
