"Sprinkle liberally with Powdered Sugar..." :-) ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Yesterday began with almost spring-like conditions. But temps fell during the day, and lots and lots of winds came along, too.
♥
This is a pretty good size chunk of slate, which was blown onto the ice on the top of the pool cover.
♥
But the sun shone through the prism, on one of the Den windows...
♥
Not so nice, was wind damage. Our power kept going out and coming back and going out and coming back. Since it was random, I simply left my computer off... No need to risk damage, with "Brown Outs." :-( ♥♥♥♥♥♥ So that made for an interesting rest of the day. I kept at my laundry, which has *magically* "grown-like-Topsie" again. Hehhhhhhh........ And I read and read and read in "Women Who Run With The Wolves." Not easy reading. Not like a cute little cozy mystery. It's kind of WORK. And I've tried to read it before. But this time, I'm getting through the whole thing!!! :-)
♥
And now, we are in February. The Wheel Of The Year is turning. And thoughts go to Valentine's Day. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Not to Celebrating it. Since I can't have Chocolates. And real flowers, though lovely, cause me to sneeze and fill up. -Blahhhhhhh- ♥♥♥♥♥♥ But I do put up some Valentine decorations. Why not? I love, love, love, love, love any excuse for RED and for SPARKLES. :-)))

Wow that must have been some powerful wind to move that slate like that. I think the entire continent has been windswept of late!!
Ain't that the truth?! John is off paying the bills and it is his usual habit to "bring something good" home for lunch. Not today. We're being good. Just goop for us. Ugh.
Good thing that no one was outside when that slate went flying. Because the day was so temperate I really wanted to take a walk, but just looking at the lawn littered with branches made me reconsider.
So, can you tell us a little more about that labor intensive book you're reading? What's the essence of it? What's the author trying to say? Why is it so like work? So much to think about?
Your photos are so good; I especially love the outside shots.
Windy day for you (and for us)...and it's getting a bit cooler, isn't it?
Hugs and love,
Jackie
wow, nasty weather!!!! I think my body made friends with my fat a long time ago!!!!!
that had to be powerful winds to move that slate.. glad you are safe and sound. a day without internet and i would be crazy...like that kitty on the mantle, beautiful. and i have my glass tree like yours out sitting in the nook. i have always packed it with the ornaments but decided to let it stay out with the other glass. beautiful snow scene
VEE... I left the following comment, on your blog comments. And thought I'd copy it here, in my comments. In case someone else might be wondering... :-)
----------------------------
In my blog comments, you asked about the book I am presently reading ("Women Who Run With The Wolves"). So I went to "Good Reads" reviews, and found the following.
Review of "WWRWtW"..... .....
I hope you will read the review at the top, and many of the reader reviews, below.
And please remember, my LOVE of Joseph Campbell, whose life work, was very much myth related.
"Auntie"
Hmm...that sounds like some book! Our winds brought cold air back to us - no power outages though.
Loved the last quote:)
Auntie, We have to tie, nail, or weigh things down out here too. So I have to keep an eye on the welcome mat. I hate when my laundry gets to be a ton.LOL Have you ever read Ann Tyler..omg...it's almost too wordy to read. I want to get to a point where I can't put a book down or not want to, anyways. Stay warm and safe. xoxo,Susie
So happy that no one was hurt by that slate, Auntie.
Love your new blog look and that lovely header photo! I have fallen in love with that cat :)
Sometimes a book looks good enough to devour and I am always hungry for a "good read" :)
Your photos are great once again! You sure are handy with that camera, you little sharp-shooter :)
The wind was hectic yesterday indeed, and pfft to valentines day haha great shots too, as always at you zoo.
Hard to believe that January's already past. Have a blessed weekend.
Mary
Love the outside snowy picture. Lots of wind here too.
These are amazing pictures!

It's been windy here too, but no ice thankfully and the power supply has been fine. I think I'd be most discombulated if I had to do laundry when I would have been blogging!
Sweet Valentines Pics, Auntie - Like that prism there, too. I'm curious about your book, now, Women with Wolves? Tell us more!
I think I'll skip right over the Valentines candy - I'm jumping clean over to C*dbury's chocolate Easter eggs. OMGoodness - my weakness - and they're already in the stores!!!!! I have to buy several and save them.
Since they don't sell them year round. GRRRR...
Love your hearts ....my favorite part of Valentines all the hearts
love the blog background - where did you find that? so cool. perfect for the holidays. always a fan of <3 day. ( :
Reminds me of march winds.
