We were down-town, mid day. Must get down-town to take pictures, later in the day. When it's getting darker and the lights are turned on, and really show up. "Geewilikers" is the name of this children toys store, and their display windows always make anyone what to say; ""Geewilikers"! :-)
Yesterday (obviously) we went down-street. We decided to not try-to-drive-at-night to the Rotary Christmas Cocktail Party, this year. So we got some "bubbly," and individual "desserts," (mine a decadent Gluten/Free), and watched an old Christmas-time movie. (Which I own) It's a delightful, old-time gem, and it stars Monty Woolley, who lived/died in our city. Along with Bette Davis, Billie Burke, Mary Wickes, Richard Travis, Ann Sheridan, Jimmy Durante, etc.
"The Man Who Came To Dinner" 1942
It's very important to note the date of 1942, because a copy was made later. We only watch the original. :-) If you don't already count this *old chestnut* among your favorite Holiday movies, please try to see it. Betcha' you'll be won over. :-)
And those who love "The Bishop's Wife," Monty Woolley played the old Professor, "Professor Wutheridge". Remember?

(I put my too-bright Faerie Lights, around the doorway from Den to Front Room... Along with the old Red Bells. We don't even remember HOW old those bells are!!! :-)
.
Oh my! Did you see Vee's comment yesterday? Saying that we had three weeks and a day until it's illegal to sell a regular light bulb. Thank you for keeping us updated, because I didn't know the cut-off date. *-:~*-:~* Will I get *drummed out* of Pretty Blog Land, if I admit that we have been switching to the *dreaded* LED lights??? -looking *sheepish*- They aren't all as *bad* as they were, at first. But no, they still do not give ambiance-like-looking-light. -pout-.
I'm wondering about all our smaller ambiance lighting... Like: The little lamp I keep on my Kitchen Counter? The little lamp on my mantle? The little lamp on-the-wall in the Den? THOSE are meant to be soft, soft, soft and not bright, bright, bright. What about them?????????????Yesterday (obviously) we went down-street. Let the breadth of fir and bay /

Listen, I have not baked and John is remorseful and I could live happily just looking at those photos, but he can not and feels that a man should have some treats two weeks out from Christmas. He went and bought his own...Chewy Chocolate Chips and they stink. In a word. So I must take pity on him and bake today. Besides it's cold. I love your photos of store fronts and bakery shops. We have nothing like that here.
May I just say that Ann Sheridan is one of the most beautiful Hollywood actresses ever? (I've never heard of the first film you mentioned and now would like to see it. I'm sure that I would love it.)
The red velvet cupcakes look divine. Love the background!
Oh that bakery - I want one of everything! : )
I want that bakery shop in my town. Oh, on second thought you better keep it there. Too much temptation for us. Every thing looks so scrumptious.
Oh, my. I saw your lovely poem on OctoberFarm's blog and had to come pay you a visit! Okay, now I'm sorry because after the Goatmother saw all the pictures from the bakery there's been no living with her. Oy. How she wishes we had a bakery like this in our neck of the woods, but alas, we are just too small I suppose. Your Christmas decorations are lovely, by the way. All we have in the barn is some damaged greenery and a red bow, but at least we have something. :)
Golly....I gained [and will have to drink my morning breakfast] just perusing all the luscious and decadent goodies here today. Wow. Be still my heart. Love the name of the shop "Geewilikers".
And those bells in your doorway. Ahhhh, the good ol' days of yore. That's what it reminds me of ---Christmases past...like in the early 50s. Love it.

Hi, Auntie! (You don't have to publish this comment). Just wanted to say that I was getting hit with a ton of 'Robot' spam. Once I turned on the verification, the 'Robots' no longer appeared, so that's why it's on. Sorry to make readers have to do it, but thanks to a few bad apples - well, you know the rest. :)
I want to come live in your town !! It looks like a great place to be. Love your blog, so awesome (o:
