♥ *Dumb-de-dumbing along* in Pretty Blog Land... -sigh-

(Still trying to remain bright........)

As is our weather...  We seem to be in the middle of a lovely, long stretch of cool nights and sunny, beautiful days.  It's lovely to have windows open.  Especially to have bedroom windows open at night, to the coolness.

(Flag flying...)

On Thursday, I made 'Uncle A.' his Apple Pie.  I took pics, during the making of it.  Yes me!  Me, who never takes pics of her cooking/baking.  Never!!!

And now, I wonder about making a post, containing them...........   I know I make a delicious home made Crust.  From a recipe I've been using for half  a century.  And I know that a lot of bloggers say, that making a home made pie crust, is daunting for them.    If you Dear Reader, are one who can't make a home made pie crust....   You are probably saying;  "Yes, yes, yes!  Show us!  Tell us!"

But when one (me) never, never, never feels secure enough, to give instructions, in her blog.......  Well, I don't know.    .  ♥  .    I still have the pics.  But it's kind of a long process.  And some of it, is *by look*  or *by feel* or *etc.*    If I was trying to learn something, I'd be very aggravated by those kinds of instructions.  -sigh-

(More Old Roses, which will not quit.  :-)))))

Sooooooooooooo, I will have to wait and see...   If  I have the courage, to try to instruct anyone in Pretty Blog Land, in how to make a home made pie crust......

Obviously, the best way  is to have the *learner*, be present.   And they can feel what I mean, when I say "It should feeeeel like this."   And they can see what I mean, when I say it should "Look like this."  Can't do that, in blogging....

(Spider web...)

Purrrrrrrrfect decoration for Halloween!!!  ,-)

(Spider web...)

Halloween...  Ya' gotta' love a holiday, whose approach sezzzzzz, that spider webs in the house, are cool.   Spider webs are actually part of the decorations.  ,-)))))))))))))

But sighhhhhhhhh, my son doesn't "get-with-the-program."  He was complaining about my hanging spider webs!   Imagine that!?!  Young people....   Just don't understand...   -Heh, heh, heh-

(Old Roses, still blossoming...)

Btw, I do know that "all Hell is breaking lose," around the world.  Oh yes I do!  And I have my views, as to WHY it is breaking lose.    (Signs of Weakness, breed Disaster)

And it's hard for me to just keep chugging along in Pretty Blog Land....  Talking about baking, and flowers still blooming, and lovely weather, and decorating for holidays, etc....   -sigh-

But on the other hand, I have no ability to influence, what is happening in the world, at large.

Yesterday, we voted in a local Primary ElectionTHAT we could do.

Other than that, to listen/read/discuss the 'World Horrors', does no good to alleviate the 'Horrors'.  And it certainly does no good, to/for me, myself.    No good, to/for me.

And I believe in self care...

Do you refrigerate your pie dough before working with it?

Let's face it Auntie, if I can do recipes etc...in Pretty Blog Land anyone can, and you are one smart cookie.

Now have Uncle A give you a big hug for that apple pie, you deserve the care!

I hear you...

As for pie making. Yes! You are the expert having done it for years. Please share. (I still have recipes that do not taste the way my mother made them because she had her secrets and took them with her.) If you do it, I'll link to you on my apple pie recipe, too. =D

It'll be a stretch for you perhaps, but it will certainly occupy your mind and keep you from thinking about too many horrors. (You do have influence you know. Yes, yes, you do.)

I loooove making pie crusts, and I do it super easy! (My mom did the loooong, hard way, but not me.) I do it all in the food processor! Extremely cold flour, salt, and sugar mixed with almost frozen little squares of butter until it's all coarse. Then drizzle ice water through the hole until the dough sticks together. Wrap it in plastic and stick it in the fridge until I'm ready to roll it. Couldn't be easier -- and it's so flaky! Just writing that makes me want to go make pies, but I'll hold off!
Peace,
Muff

The first time I tried making dough after rolling it out I couldn't get it off the counter and ended up gathering the dough up with my hands and throwing it against the wall. : )
My mom was not pleased.
After that my gramma taught me how to make dough. It is just one of many happy memories I have of her. : )

I've not baked a pie in ages. Looking forward, though, to trying some new recipes this weekend. I just love when it gets cooler.

Right at this very moment, I'm watching the special report on TV of the four Americans arriving home at Andrews Airforce Base.

Pies crusts are good. Spider webs are good. Joy is necessary and important.

However, thank God that we live in the United States of America where we can express and work for our beliefs. Let your patriotic voice be heard whenever and wherever you choose.

Politics come and go (and politicians with them). I'd rather hear about Pie - and pie crust making - any time.

Beautiful, beautiful mums.

P.S. I decorate with spider webs year-round (though not intentionally).

Would you believe I have never made a pie...it may be fun for you to try to give us pie cooking lessons and fun for someone like me to try to make it. :) Like you I feel odd at times living a carefree and enjoyable life when so much pain and misery is going on in this world but I can only help those about me and pray.
