Some-a-this and some-a-that... :-)

Yes, another "Because I Can" pic!  -grin-

(Source)

Tonight is the Dark Moon or the New Moon...  The Full Moon is always beautiful, and I love it.  But I am becoming more and more interested in, and drawn to, the Dark Moon...  The New Moon...

Read half of "The Bouncing Grandma" last night.   -sigh-  Half was all I could get through.  Not my kind of Cozy Mystery with a Grandmother in it.  Too slow.  The Grandma is too young.  Did I say, too slow?  People were not that intriguing.  Oh well, there are plenty more Cozy Mysteries out there.  With plenty more older ladies, whom I'd enjoy more.

Plus, I guess I've gotten quite "spoiled."  I can't enjoy any small town now, unless it's set in the rural UK .  :-)
But, while I may like my "Grandmas In Books," to be older.......
I want my music (and musicians) to be younger...  In their 30's and from the USA.  "Band Of Horses" latest CD "Mirage Rock"...

There's *my man* Ryan, laughing and rockin' out and having a great time, while making this CD.

Believe-you-me!  Dance and move to this CD, and get over a half hour of GREAT exercise!  Fun!  Fun!  Fun!  ,-)  MY Kind of EXERCISE!!!  ,-)))))))

And the best part is (to me, anyway...), for this latest CD, they just went into the studio and played!  So it's much more like a live performance, than CD's which have been totally over-laid and mixed.

"Some censuring Readers will scornfully say, why
hath this lady writ her own life?  Since none cares to
know whose daughter she was or whose wife she is,
or how she was bred, or what fortunes she had,
or how she lived or what humor or disposition she was of?
I answer that it is true, that 'tis to no purpose to the readers,
but it is to the authoress, because I write
it for my own sake, not theirs."
~~Margaret Cavendish in 1655

Isn't this, a rather neat description, of our blogging...  tooooo?

"It takes 6 months to get into shape and 2 weeks
to get out of shape.  Once you know
this you can stop being angry about other
things in life and only be angry about this."
~~Rita Rudner

I own all of Gladys Taber's books.   (Except the ones about pets) When we were looking for the recipe for her "Cranberry Island Stew," I had the thought;  "I ought to look in her recipe book."  But typically, I forgot to look.

A Dear Reader let me know, that this recipe is right in Glady's Cookbook.  Which is right on my shelf.    Thank you Dear Reader!  From now on, I should get back to paying attention to my "Maybe-you-ought-to-Thoughts"!!!  Duhhhhhhhhhhh me!

♥ This and that... And a "Report" :-)))))

Misty morn here, on Thursday.  This is looking to the south...

And misty morn, looking to the west, also...

And look who is up and looking at me, this morning!  "BK"  :-)  Last week, she had her nails removed, and wasn't so perky.  But she certainly looks perky today.  Right up there, in old "Lucky's" (older cat) perch, again.   Tsk, tsk, tsk...

Well, at least now, they can duke-it-out, on an even-playing-field.  She had nails before, and he does not.  Now they are both fully in-door kitties.

Another pretty house...    A BIG one this time, Babe!!!  -grin-

And another old house.....   Love the *gingerbread* trim.   And the colors...  Gray, pink, white...  Yummmmmmmmm...  :-)

This one, is very different.  It opens right out onto an Alley.  Because it's an old carriage house, which has been made over, to be a home...  The big old homes are in the front of the lot.  And the carriage houses are in the back of the lot.

Such carriages houses are prized, in town!  To be purchased and made over into a dwelling place.  Keeping as much of the original decor, as possible.  I doubt if there are any left, which have not been purchased and redone.

Isn't that charming?  Kind of like "Old Town" in places like Marblehead Mass.  Where the doors/windows of the very old homes, open right onto the street/road.   :-)

I didn't finish the book.   I'm just not-that-into 'Domestic Diva' books.  But the cover is so, so, so, so, so, so cool for Halloween!!!!  ,-)  Btw, don't know what the main color of the book cover looks like, on your computer, but on the real book, it is ORANGE!!!  :-)

And in case you are wondering,  YES, the first part(s) of getting-a-hearing-aid went well.   The Ear Doc did a thorough examination!  All fine.   The very-nice Audiologist, in his office, did her noises/sounds/etc. testing, with me in the little booth.  -gigggles-

She explained her findings...  Will send them, to the Hearing Aid place of our choice.  Which will then contact me, to set up an appointment, for me to come in.  And for them to fill the Audiologist's Rx, etc., etc., etc.  Just like with the "Chuck It" Cleaning Out, it was sooooooooooooo wonderful, to have done that!!!!!!  I am officially on-my-way.  Again...

"Again" because about 30 years ago, I had aids.  With luck, they have improved, in 30 years.  Of course they have!

But I fully know that hearing aids are not purrrrrrrfect.  They are NOT like putting on glasses, which have been made to your  Rx, for your eyes.  So that you can see wonderfully again!!!  NOT SO with putting in hearing aids.  They are not purrrrrrfect and one must KNOW / ACCEPT this reality.  :-)  I do.

(Evening...Looking west...From our front yard...)

Racing Season begins soon, and so...  All of the city is sprucing up and getting ready.  The big *summer cottages* of the summer people, are being readied and grass is constantly being automatically watered and cut and edged and etc., etc., etc.
*♡
If you remember, we live across the street to our East, from the whole block, which is one of these big homes/carriage houses.  "Secretariat's" owner lived there, years ago.  It's a different owner now of course, some horse trainer, and the yard people are constantly working on the grounds.  Using those ding-dang loud motorized machines and cutters and blowers etc.  NOISE POLLUTION!
*♡
I have a few of those "Sounds Of Nature" CD's, which I play, a lot.   Sound-of-waves is playing now.  I have a couple of bird song ones, etc.
*♡
We do have a regional classical music station on the radio, but most of the time, the selection they play is very weird sounding to us.  So we can't just use the radio.  But the birds and the waves, help...  ,-)

(Just a pretty little porch, around town...)

I'm still on my *Greek Isles* kick.  ,-)  Watched a couple of travel videos, from the library....   On the Greek Isles.  And put a request in to library, for "Shirley Valentine" dvd.  Remember that one?  Delightful...  Shot on the island of Mykonos in Greece.  :-)))))

(Wave Petunias, in pots, on back patio...)

Late yesterday afternoon, we went out on the front patio ("the stoop") for our before-dinner glass of wine.  (l'heure aperitif).   It had rained all day Sun., but we thought the chair pads had dried out.  But...  When we got up, to come back inside...  My cotton dress and panties were wet.  LOL.  I had to *change before dinner.*  -grin-  But not into something fancy.  Just an old cotton dress.  And a dry pair of panties.  ,-)
*♡
Those chair pads have to be put in the sun today!  And in the garage, before the expected thunder storms of today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wet *bottom*!  Ugh!!!!  It really doesn't *go with* the lovely French saying, of  "l'heure aperitif".   "The Hour Of A Drink Before Dinner."     :-)

Ryan Monroe...
*♡
My favorite member of the "Band Of Horses" band.
*♡
I have an old "walk-man" set, with nice, big, soft, old fashioned ear phones.   So much more comfortable than the tiny "ear buds" which everyone uses today.  But the operative-word is OLD.  The music keeps cutting out.  :-(((((   -sigh-  I've yet to check all the length of wires, running to the player and the ear phones and to the plug, etc.  Bahhh-humbug...
*♡
I enjoyed listening to it, myself.  Sitting in my comfy chair.   Not having to make "Uncle A." listen to it, cranked up, on the regular CD player.  ,-)  Thus avoiding "indoor noise pollution" for him!!!  ,-)
*♡
Soooo, that's another thing on the List Of Stuff To Do...  Check out the old wires, on the old walk-man...  Go do errands...  Make a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie for my middle son...   Etc.  Etc.  Etc.   :-)
