♥ No Full Moon sighting---But a nice dinner

(G/F meal at 'Olde Bryan Inn' restaurant here in town........Very old place......Ambiance lighting is quite dark......So pic is dark)
I know not all Dear Bloggers, have difficulty with a run of dark, rainy, gloomy days.  I know.  But are there Dear Readers who do?   Who have some SAD?  Or have it, a lot?  ...........  I ask because I'm a *wee-bit-skeeeered* that I'm developing some SAD.  -sigh-   Perhaps a bit like, I never had allergy issues, until I got older...

(More dark ambiance......Very COOL, when there......Not good for pics......Sorry)
I know the usual...   Get a special kind of light and sit in it, a couple of hours a day.  I expect they are expensive.  Do any Dear Readers use one, and like it?  Or don't see a difference, with the use of it?

My husband has a tendency toward SAD and has had, for a while.  He tries to fight-it-off, of course. Wondering about what others do, if/when they have    Seasonal Affective Disorder?

I suppose it's not exactly *helping*, that I am into a spooky book.  "The Seance" by John Harwood.  -grin-  Oh but it is sooooooo interesting.  Can't put it down!!!  :-)

"September fattens on vines.
Roses flake from the wall.
The smoke of harmless fires drifts to my eyes.
This is plenty.  This is more than enough."
~Geoffrey Hill, 'September Song'

I've used Google to do Net Searches, for years and years.  Now this Bing is trying to get us, to use it.  What do you use consistently, for Net Searches?  Have  you tried Bing?  I just tried it, and it is quick...

(Page in "Autumn" book, by Susan Branch......Any Dear Readers heard geese flying overhead yet?)
(sigh)  No viewing of the Full Harvest Moon last night.  -pout-  This doesn't happen very often...  A Full Moon, when the skies are covered with clouds.

A sign outside "The Olde Bryan Inn" restaurant.   This place is tops, on authentic atmosphere.  It even *comes* with stories of a resident ghost.  "A Lady In Green."  Who at times shows herself, upstairs in the really old part, near/in the Ladies Room.  I have tried more than once, to see her.  -pout-  No luck.  YET!  :-)))).............Mmmmmm, betcha' Halloween would be a good time, to try again!!!............But one has to stay home, for 'Trick Or Treat-ers.'  ,-)))

i have tried bing and yahoo and another search engine that i can't remember the name of, but prefer google, not the quickness of it, but it seems to bring up more choices. of course it might be that i haven't used bing enough to make a decision. i love google maps and now i am wondering if bing has them.
this place is beautiful and your pics are great, i love places that look like this.
about the butter flies.
holly said the girl picks her mate, then the other males come and try to get her to come with them, like a dog in heat draws more than one. I was totally amazed.

I try them all and manage to stay with Google. It depends on which browser I'm using which search engine I go with. If I'm on IE, I use Bing; if on Google Chrome, I use Google.

That restaurant looks fabulous. I'd love it there and whoever's meal that is looks great, too.

Yes, I do think I can get bogged down with SAD. When that happens, I must remember to get out and get some sun even if it's a drive in the car. I also take Vitamin D in the winter as I have a deficit all year long, but especially in winter. I guess most of us northern clime folks do have a deficit.

I mainly use Google for searching.

Love the look of the restaurant where you dined and the meal looks yummy. It would be fun to catch a glimpse of the Lady in Green!

I read what Vee said about Vit. D.
I don't know if it would make a difference in SAD, but I take Vitamin D year around as my doctor says many are deficient and don't know it. Even if it's sunny, most of us aren't exposed to it often enough to get enough of the "sunshine" vitamin, sez she with the MD. My hubby's heart doc told him to take Vitamin D and he's out in the sun every day.

I absolutely love these pics, Auntie!!! This place is gorgeous!!!

I don't have "sad" at all...I adore rainy, gloomy days!!! I guess that I have always loved them, even as a little girl. We are all different. In my case it's to many sunny days in a row that get me down...go figure :)

Google is my choice. I've not tried the others because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it.":)

We haven't seen any geese flying overhead yet. Clouds blocked part of the Harvest Moon here last night, too.

No SAD here. In fact, I sometimes enjoy a cloudy day.

Dinner looks very good!

I love your mood lighting!!! While I love cold, damp, dark days - my Amber does NOT!!! She is a Beach Babe and loves the summertime and heat and sunshine! The year she lived in Scotland was very hard on her because of the lack of sunshine. I gave her a gift certificate to a tanning salon. Not to tan so much as to get the benefits of the 'fake' sun! She gets sad and droopy without it!

I use google most times.

I like a day or two of rain but after that I need to see the sunshine. I usually just turn on a lot of lights in the house and pretend its sun. Seems to work for me. : )

Hi Auntie

I don't know anyone with SAD. Sorry can't help with that one. Your supper looks yummy! I use Google to search unless I have a question then I use ASk.com.

Hope that you had a great weekend!

I like Google. As for SAD, in the past, I believe that I was more affected by long stretches of rain and cloudiness, and dark days of winter. The doctor discovered that I had low vitamin D levels and prescribed some high dose pills for me. I really believe they helped. Even for people who work outside in the sun, unless they are a life guard, they are covered up by clothes and possibly don't absorb enough Vitamin D.

Your blog background is really pretty.

Hello Auntie dear! I'm still here! Now, I'm loving that Inn and if anyone is going to meet up with the Lady in Green, it should be YOU. I'm sure if she needs setting straight, you're the one to do it!

I have self-diagnosed me with SAD, but mine generally doesn't start til after the first of the year. There's alot going on right now with fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, but when those dark, gloomy days of January and February set in, it hits me. I expect it's even worse up there where you live. I try to find busy things to do, try to get out more, see friends, go on little short trips, have a project or projects to work on. The other thing I do, is, on sunny days, I park myself in front of a sunny window and just close my eyes and bask in the warmth. If it's not too cold outside, and you have an area out of the wind, wrap up in a blanket and go sit in the sun. That's what you and Uncle A need - sunshine.

There's a direct correlation between getting enough vitamin D and SAD. (or so I read somewhere) Usually the sun perks me right up. I used to have a bean bag chair of my kids that I would put in front of the sliding glass door and actually nap in the sunshine. Other than that, they do have simulated sunlight box lights that you can buy to do the same thing.

My last tip - go get a membership at a tanning facility - that'll do it, too, AND you'll wind up looking like you've spent the winter months in the Caribbean!

I stick with the tried and true till forced to use something else. Google has worked for me as it is...seems like when I switch to something to improve, it will improve, but mess something else up. A lot of people have SAD and do not know it. I think sunshine and rest and less stress will help.
