The forest, is a swamp...!!! :-(

I know this is nothing, compared to the flooding, in many places.

But the college land, across from us, overflowed last evening.  See it flowing????

What aggravates us is...  That the college has promised the home owners, who live near this lovely, old, wooded area...  That it would remain untouched.  But it has not.

It is becoming more and more of a swamp, because of college cutting trees, building buildings, and making parking lots.  And they are *supposed* to be SO  GREEN.....

OK, I got that rant out!

I hope all my fellow Citizens, are ready to Celebrate the 4th of July...

Fog... And stuff....

Well, I finally changed my Background.  And changed the general Look of My Blog.  Finally!!!  I admit, I did lve my old Red And White Checked (tablecloth) Look.  I did.  But I can always go back to it again.  :-)

Course, if I *had-my-druthers*,  I'd be able to make a PURRRRFECT all-time-Background Look.    Like *You-Know-Who* has...   -sigh-  Yes, if I *had-my-druthers.*  But, I don't.

We are living in a Fogggggy World, in my neck of the woods.  Often times, we'll have fog in the morning, or at night.  But it doesn't usually stay around, for days and days...  And nights and nights...

I don't like it, for driving.  But it does make beautiful Photo Ops....   This is the little woods, across the street.  And the always-interesting-looking old dead pine tree.

Don't you just love the philosophy, behind that Robt. Frost quote????

{What is it, with little boys and dinosaurs?  :-)}

{And how come, we love illustrations of little hands, so...?  :-)}

{An example of teaching...  "Pop" puts a yellow block into the loader thing...
And Gabe "gets-it"...  You can see it, on his little face...  :-)}

Concerning the issue of wearing a surgical mask, to prevent getting or spreading "IT,"  I wish our country was more like Japan...  Where they ALL wear masks, in times-of-widespread-sickness, when out of their homes!  I think it's wise!

Ellen, you wear your mask proudly!  You especially need the protection, right now.  Why not SAY that, when someone wonders, why you are wearing a surgical mask?  You know "Auntie"...!!   I'd say;  "I am wearing a mask, to protect myself from your germs!!!!"
~~~~~~
Perhaps we should all start to wear a surgical mask, when out in public!!!!!!!!   Yes!!!!   Why are we so bashful???  Why do we worry about what anyone else, will think/say????  Why????
Bloggers Unite.
Get our surgical masks, and wear them!!!
Some Sat. this and that...
The photo above, is one of those purrrrrrfect Photo Op moments.  Golden late afternoon sun playing on the tops of trees, across from our house.  Breathtakingly lovely...  That exquisite late-light...
Early morning light and late light, are marvelous.  "Painter's Light"...  Mmmmm....
My reading is being lovely, right now.  I continue to have so much fun with this series of books, by Madelyn Alt.  Each book has a mystery to be solved, of course.  Otherwise it wouldn't be a Cozy Mystery.  But the continuing background story of the people, living in her small town with her, etc. is even more fun.  This author seems to know just where I'd like her to take the evolving background.  I'd like something to happen, with the heroine, and it does!  Love that kind of a book.  :-)
And "Alice I Have Been" is turning out to be a page turner!!!  I didn't want to put it down, at midnight last night!  Me, who is ready for bed at 9PM.  I'm loving it.  :-))))))))
A shadow...   Yes, I noticed the late afternoon light in the house, one day...  And went around taking shadow pics.  "Just because I can" pics, for sure.
(Stuck!!!)
A "Just Because I Happened To Notice It" pic.  Somehow the wind pinned this leaf, in the pool fence.  Perfectly randomly threaded, between metal parts.  And then, through the chain link itself.  Quite the well-done-job, I would say!    Wonder how long it will stay there?
Another photo capture, of a perfect moment, in time....
Of course, the ding-dang wires certainly spoil the composition.  :-((((  And if I could Photo-shop my pics, I could remove them.  Which, on one hand, would be very nice.  But on the other hand, if I removed the wires, it would no longer be a depiction of what-I-saw.
And I'm 'Olden' and 'Stubborn' and prefer my photos to show mostly What-I-Saw.  ,-)
"When shrieked
The bleak November winds, and smote the woods,
And the brown fields were herbless, and the shades
That met above the merry rivulet
Were spoiled, I sought, I loved them still;  they seemed
Like old companions in adversity."
~  William Cullen Bryant, A Winter Piece
♥ "Warm summer sun, shine kindly here..."
-giggles-
Tuesday, he was being publicly honored.
Wednesday, he was diggin' and laying rocks...  :-)
Just a beautiful view, from our front door.
The Cone Flowers cometh...
Stella Doro Lilies...
The flowers out front in the pot, seem to have perked back up...  After being battered by the heavy rain, of a couple of days ago.
A chewed up little 'Old Rose'...
Little yellow Primrose...  Kind of a wild flower, but very pretty...  And welcome in the garden...
Warm southern wind blow softly here."
♥ SUMMER-is-HERE...
(View, from our front door...  End of Spring...)
The weather here was marvelous, for the Holiday weekend, and we made use of it.  He always does, but even I did.  3 days in a row...  Various yard work...  Oh moan!  Oh groan!  Oh pain!  Oh stiffness!  Oh hardly being able to get up and move, after sitting for a while!  -grin-
(First of my husband's Old Roses, to bloom...)
But then, you gotta' do it again, the next day.  And the next.  And the next.  ,-)
(Our back yard Chippy...  Taken through the screen door...  So as not to spook him...)
We are really enjoying watching this little Chip monk this year!  He scampers all around and on the pool cover.  And on the back patio.  And in and out of all the rocks/greenery, around the pool and the pond.  No neighbor's cat this year, to "worry" him!!!!!!!!!!  And I am so happy!!!!!!
(Clematis and Poppies..)
Severe thunder storms are forecast for today (Tues.).  -sigh-  Should take more pics of flowers in bloom, because such storms could beat them down and kind of make a mess of them.
He got lots of flowers planted.  I timed edge by pond, and lay river stones.   After this picture was taken, 'Grand' J. cut the lawn.
All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl, though...  Not to fear, I got lots and lots of delightful reading done!!!!!!!!!!  Oh my yes!!!!  But I'll save the book-info, for tomorrow.
And left the flushed print in a poppy there."
♡Glowing leaves, and trip to an old cemetery...
♡*♡*♡*♡
Love these Autumn leaves, out our bedroom window!!!
A kind of pinky-gold-ness...  -Happy sigh-  They glowwwwwwwwwwwwwww...
But rain today/Thurs.  Possible dusting of snow later.  Wheeeee...  BUT!  -happy dance-  Nights are supposed to be COLD for-a-bit.  Frost.  Frost.  Frost.  Hooray!  Hooray!  Hooray!
And anyway, we can't have true Indian Summer, until after a killing frost.   :-)
(View from Front Door, in Oct.)
Read about 160 pages more (on Wed. night), in "The Little Stranger."  Following the 100 pages I read, on Tues. night.  It's very interesting, but I still don't *know* exactly what is going on.  :-)
(An old Hydrangea, turned a lovely *Old Pink* color)
Mmmmmmm, guess what I did, yesterday afternoon?  I joined "Fly Lady"!  -grin-  Finally!  I've been hearing about her, for years and never took the plunge.  Guess I thought she was kind of a cranky gal, who whipped us into shape, as to keeping house.  And I really don't like anyone to try to whip-me-into-shape!  I rebelllllllllllllllllllllllll...
But she's sweet!!!   Not pushy sounding.  :-))))))))  Now to see if she can "help even me."  -grin-
♡
A recent nice day, we went to the very old Cady Family Cemetery.  It's kind of hidden away and you have to know where-you-are-going.  :-)  That sign, was a mess and fallen over.  "Uncle A." held it up, so I could take a picture.  ~~~~~~  Getting into the gated cemetery, and traversing it, was quite the *adventure.*  Especially for me, who is quite unsure-of-her-footing, these days.  :-)  But I made it!  Holding on to "Uncle A." lots of the time.  :-)
Somehow, I can't get the pictures I took, to post well.  ?????   *Interesting*, hu?  Doesn't this family want them, to be posted in a blog????  Whoooooo-hooooooo...
We took lovely photos and were not disrespectful.  -sigh-  Oh well, I'll try a couple of more times, and then give up on getting them to post properly.
"Nothing beats a haunted moonlit night on All Hallows Eve.... And on this fatal night, at this witching time, the starless sky laments black and unmoving.  The somber hues of an ominous, dark forest are suddenly illuminated under the emerging face of the full moon."
